Hearing something metal hitting those rocks and clanging around is a sound most unwelcomed when jetty fishing. At least it wasn't your car keys. I've been witness to this before and it was heartbreaking!
From what DFG said you need Linc . To fish jettys..only piers in calif you do not need Linc.. So watch out for you know who... Later.. Great fishing , lots of crabs..
@23dvpolo I haven't fished the jetty enough to tell you when the best time is, but we always seem to catch something out there and it's always a good time to go fishing.
me and my friend are thinking about heading out there to the jetty since its been tough catching dungies over at pacifica. do you need a license? thanks.
@mlnhtrang All standard fishing regulations, gear restrictions, limits, and seasons apply, just like fishing anywhere else. Please consult your California Ocean Sport Fishing Regulations for details. The Department of Fish and Game has been out in full force lately and they are writing very expensive tickets for people who violate the rules.
@mlnhtrang....tough at pacifica? hmm.. i went from opening day till end of nov, if not limit, atleast 4 or 5 huge ones..2010 best crabbin ever done at pacifica..just gotta hit those tides brotha and get there early enough to get the corner or end of the L..but by dec. commercial boats will clean up...soo ya..keep that in mind for next year..
are there a lot dungeness ? I usually just go to the small pier behind the parking lot at the other side , mostly just rock crabs. I might go to this tomorrow .. by the rv park >, and just walk all the way out right ? I will also use pole and snares . I dun think using crab nets there is a good idea .. what do you think ? thanks for sharing
@barrylee888 This was the first time I went for Dungeness there, but we caught a few. I don't think a trap would work well there. Snares are probably your best bet. Also I have seen lots of people poke poling for (and catching) eels there. I also heard of a keeper Lingcod being caught from the jetty last season. You can park along the side of highway 1 or in the dirt lot on the other side of 1. This is supposed to be a great year for crabbing, so go for it and good luck!
@SilverSurfer3o They are homemade snares made by my buddy in the black sweathshirt. Hi's Tacklebox in South San Francisco has some high quality snares available, but they are expensive. Most stores in the bay area sell the square snares. I have not had good luck with that kind.
The end was soooo funny, I saw the crab getting ready to rip off your buddies figure but he saw it coming , that's when he droped the crab gauge in the rocks to be forever lost.hehehe. You got your catch Thumbs up.
