A "step by step guide" if you will is your own desire to love all mankind and to know the truth with all your heart and soul. Mind is the principle of the universe, including man. Become a student of Life and study the scriptures and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures with an open mind. Jesus said "You shall know the Truth..." and that it alone will save you.
Sine GOD is Principle, an not a person, a person's life can be changed through a deep spiritual understanding because life is Mind not matter. Try using this perspective and see if it works.
Get yourselves some clip on mikes one for each fellow.
The off camera person is mumbling. and so is the fellow on the left of sofa.

@MarulanChristianDior , thanks (I think) for your feedback. It's clear you are expecting a lot more than we were in terms of production quality. The two of us are both tightarses when it comes to money and time, so we really weren't inclined to buy clip-on mics or spend time producing this video properly, it was just a sunday afternoon hobby.
James mumbles because he's too lazy to open his mouth fully, and we didn't actually rehearse any of it, we just got back from the church and hit record.
I like this so much because you have a sincere interest in reporting and learning. I will say, I used to find the service very dull and avoided them altogether. I actually appreciate them now because I find it refreshing to have the consistency around the world and time to think and ponder ideas.
People claim that CS is Christian. My question is this: How is it determined whether a person or a religion is Christian? Is there some criteria or is it just agreed that if you call your Churc Christian its okay? How about making money and tax exemptions, can anybody call their group a religion in order to charge for teaching and prayer, and get tax exemptions too? And now the government can add CS practitioners to the health care options. Hmmm. Makes me wonder, what next?
Children have NO choice in their health. Their parents decide for them. My husband suffered for years from neglect of medical treatment. Now that his mother is old and has health problems, guess who goes to the DRs? Today she is in intensive care recovering from a stroke. Where is her CS religion now? If you can't walk the walk, don't talk the talk. Where children are concerned, it is called medical neglect and that is a criminal offense as well as a sin.
no way jose. the church has no position on medicine. It leaves everything up to the individual. btw, how many cases can we bring up about people dying even with medical intervention. There's way too much to say in response. We are all at different places along the road with our opinions and thinking, and whatever I say will probably not help you to understand right now. Have a good journey.
Well, the individual is dead now, so she can answer to God, not Mary Baker Eddy, who was just as much a sinner as anyone else. Funny my Mother in laws choices for herself were the opposite of what she chose for her child IWho had NO say in the matter). Medical neglect is a crime and a sin like I said, regardless. Hypocrite is a work that comes to mind.
Mary Baker Eddy was married 3 times, and a morphine addict. I worked for the 1st church of christ scientist for 3 years as an organist. Did you see any members with glasses? Odd eh? Love is reflected in love! A quote fro M.B.E. herself. B T W, wht can't christian science heal amputees? Peace.
dont judge CS by some members. And by the way, CS is documented by several independent sources to have healed eyesight and amputees. MBE was married 3 times, her first husband died, her second repeatedly cheated on her, and her third died. But that was all before she discovered CS. She was NOT a morphine addict.
You act like CS is the healer not God. What a crock. Another case of "My religion is better than your religion". Who do you think you have to answer to in the end, Mary Barker Eddy or God Almighty? They are not even on the same plane.
@gilbertranch1906...how does a person determine what someone is "ACTING" like by a few comments?....CS teaches GOD is NOT sin, sickness and death...which by the way....happens to be all the things that Jesus healed.
@gilbertranch1906...cont'd.... .in the bible (Habakkuk 1:13) says God is of two pure eyes to behold evil and CS teaches in ways that "helps" one to walk in the SPIRIT as the bible instructs us to do and also CS "helps" to understand the bible SPIRITUALLY which frees us from being slaves to the body and going broke from med's, surgery and doctors! (^_^)
@ebascted It would be a service to humanity if you would publish this evidence "documented by several independent sources to have healed eyesight and amputees." Show us! Direct us to where we can have access to it! Doesn't that kind if documentation belong to all of mankind? Where is it? I am old 3rd generation CSer who left CS long ago because it was not an ethical institution; healings were never, ever, ever more than anecdotal/hear-say. The CS authentication PROCESSs totally flawed (fraud.)
@menderfire9 Random people are healed (miracle/fluke of cosmic confusion) all the time. Its not restricted to the belief of any one religion; plenty of doctors have witnessed 'miraculous recoveries' that are scientifically inexplicable. The problem with religion, is that they are all different but claim the same result with no consistency. CSers say it's proven but no one outside of CS accepts that. While I have seen healings myself, I don't believe there is one/any religion with a key.
A lot of this dispute is because so many "Christian Scientists" are not practicing Science any more, they are practicing faith-healing.
What's a healing? If you go to the doctor and get better, are you healed? Why is it the same medicine works in one case and not another? "Medicine:" what the majority of minds in the current theory say it does, (common consent) plus or minus what the individual believes. Mental practice in this pattern is simply a counterfeit of both, & worse than either.
Thanks for the comment, klsd. Whilst I respect your opinion, here is mine; real wisdom is gained from studying a field that has some grounding in the material world rather than a vague fiction that is potentially drug/psychosis induced. Whilst Mrs Eddys assertions are abstract enough to escape criticism, the statistics relating to healing success rate and retention of followers should be a huge concern for any follower.
Many argue that CS has caused many to die because of medical neglect, but they fail to notice many of those people would have died even with or because of medical help. There is no ultimate cure, not CS and not medical science. People die. In the medical world, death and pain are prevented as much as possible. We do the same with CS practice. It's an individual decision how much you want to take on. Personally I don't think I'd be alive without CS. And I wouldn't have half my friends. :)
and it's not just about ignoring the problem, it's way more complicated. it's about realizing the Truth about who created you and who you are. As a reflection of God, you can't reflect something untrue about God. God never gets sick. How can His/Her reflection have a sickness?
Besides all that, CS is the most wonderful community I could ever ask for. I went to Principia College, the only CS college, not officially affiliated with the church, and i couldn't have been happier elsewhere.
check out alitozier's channel if you want to learn more.
i appreciate your time and effort on trying to learn more about this religion. while not everything in this video is true, it's a lot better than a lot of the other videos out there, such as those calling CS a cult. some people just really need to learn how to do research...
oh one other thing, if it weren't for CS I wouldn't have seen Australia when i did! I love it! Went to Sydney and Cairns. :D
Glad you liked Australia, and I appreciate your thought-out comment. I have another question though: why is sickness considered "untrue" of God's creation, yet gradual deterioration leading to death is just part of life? How can there be a distinction?
I was referring to death in the material sense, as most people see it. The problem with that argument that people have about people dying because of CS is that not only do they not consider the outcome of the person if they had received medical care, but they focus on death so much. In CS, our true identities are the spiritual ideas of God, not the material bodies. The spiritual ideas of God are eternal, and therefore never die. The material, the unreal, is temporary.
Mrs. Eddy defines death in Science and Health, p. 584:
"Death. An illusion, the lie of life in matter; the unreal and untrue; the opposite of Life.
Matter has no life, hence it has no real existence. Mind is immortal. The flesh, warring against Spirit; that which frets itself free from one belief only to be fettered by another, until every belief of life where Life is not yields to eternal Life. Any material evidence of death is false, for it contradicts the spiritual facts of being."
Thanks for your question. I'll try to answer best as I can, but keep in mind you'll get a slightly different answer from every CSer because CS is a very individual religion. Because of this, CSers define right and wrong their own way, using the tools they've been given, The Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. There are also guidelines for members, outlined in the Manual to the Mother Church. There are also of course, the Ten Commandments, and the Tenets, found in S&H.
"Manual to the Mother Church" Lol, "beam me up Scotty!"
"...the Ten Commandments" Don't forget Lev. 20:13, an important law. Do you think that rebellious sons, sabbath workers and non-virgin women should be stoned to death?
There's good which God created, which is the spiritual and eternal. Then there's the material and temporal, created by mortal mind. If your goal in life is to spread love and to glorify God, you will find that when you make decisions whether to do what is socially defined as "right" or "wrong", you will more than likely choose what's "right", because it's what will reflect the love of God and the teachings of Jesus. Also it's important to follow the Golden Rule.
Apparently YouTube doesn't like my final comment. There are a bunch of online resources as well as physical resources such as Science and Health and other books or periodicals you can check out at a Reading Room. If you want to learn more about CS, I suggest you try some of these resources so maybe you can understand why I love my religion, even if you don't understand CS. I don't expect people outside of CS to understand it, it's certainly not for everyone and takes years to understand.
Sadly, I'll have to say the same of you. One wouldn't say that the law of calculus is "complete nonsense" because in kindergarden, one doesn't understand it yet. Just like that, you cannot dismiss CS without studying its teachings.
@ebascted And you can't dismiss the fact that THOUSANDS OF FORMER CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS, INCLUDING READERS AND CLASS TAUGHT PRACTITIONERS have left the church & vocally renounce it's practice. The Church is dying! As in empty.
The problem with CS fanatics is the same as fanatics of any religion; they all insist that those who don't love and promote THEIR religion are lacking in "understanding", meaning less intelligent, less willing to try, less spiritual, less godly,
You stated that this isn't a good church if you want to stay awake. So True! It is also a very dangerous religion. Many have died or been disabled because they shun all medical care. There are more victims of this religion than there are members of their church. They won't even release figures on how many are in the religion. Too many secrets and lies in this cult.
Good point! We actually asked one of the members about whether they seek medical treatment, and she was a little uneasy in her answer. I suspect this was because she knew the truthful answer causes such a stir. She did cautiously admit that it was discouraged as an incorrect way of treating a problem. Also, as you were saying, I can imagine that for every member that will testify to a great healing there would be at least one ex-member out there who can testify against it's success.
I respectfully disagree. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, we christian scientists are instructed to seek medical care if we are not getting better or if it is required. Of course, fanatics (which are in every religion) cause misconceptions like these)
