Come to think of it, this song is one step away from perfectly spelling out the Joker's philosophy and mission. What the Joker wants is for people to adopt his personal brand of madness, which basically amounts to seeing life as a huge, terrible joke.

"When living gets a little rough, and you find it hard to cope." Essentially, it's him saying to go insane, because it makes life easier. We have some pretty subtle symbolism here. For a show aimed at kids, anyway.

@sindaras - i wasn't exactly a big fan either, but i grew up with Kevin Conroy. to go from that to this was almost unseemly... still, the Silver Age throw back is like a history lesson that i couldn't fall asleep in because it was Batman. and you're right, the creators did an outstanding job, and really had fun with the child-friendly setup.

@BabyDachi75 - i'm with you, but they're all different mediums, so it's unfair to judge them back to back. Jeff Bennett is based on the Silver Age comics, Heath Ledger was a different take on the whole franchise, and Mark Hamill was kind of in his own continuity.
