Keith is cool. Truth is Brian was difficult to begin with, and then wasted himself cause he couldn't handle fame. Mick Taylor quit, was not forced out. He had a lot of issues going on. Keith let him play on his solo LP Talk Is Cheap. I love the whole Stones family/history/music.
@bacardibum I'm sorry, but a band belongs to the musician/musicians writing the bulk of the material along with directing the sound. If you just cover songs all day long (Brian Jones), or if all you do is play really awesome leads, but write generic riffs (Taylor), then you must recognize your spot in the band. They couldn't deal with where they had to take a seat, and they either quit or died. Without Jagger/Richards, there's no stones. No Brian and Taylor = STONES LIVE ON!
I think George was hopping for a shot with the Stones. The rumor was that Woody was getting so fucked up that Jagger was ready to kick him out, too much money at stake for him to be fucking about. Keith said he'll look after him, Keith's loyalty is legendary, but still, Mick wasn't taking any chances, he was going to have a back up just in case. He'd never be a Rolling Stone though because he's not English. This is just stuff I heard, thought I'd share...
0:56 LOL thats freddie sessler.. keiths pal and the cocaine supplier to the stones on tour. if you saw keith on tour you knew freddie was around someware
Very interesting historical audio/visual item here....thought I recognized the Delaware Destroyer hanging there....Keith looks positively healthy. Great stuff!
great document, so good to hear that megahits didn't all come together without work. I like how Mick gives Keef some Gatorade to sober him up and how he poors it in a glass for him to avoid Keef's evil koodies...
start me up was originally a down tempo reggae number that had been kicking around for awhile...I think....was worried there for a moment 'dont stop' was morphing into start me up lol....what is George Thorogood up to these days...back in those days it was rumoured he could 'replace' Ron so all of you who missed it have a look at this again and see what you think....def something going on there...we all love you Ronnie..you sure the one we need lol...get it together Chief !!
