C: I've been playing guitar for 2 years. I can play nearly any Rise Against song as almost all of them are made of power chords. Punk is based around being fast and loud, not complex.

D: You have no idea what you're talking about. Rise Against uses way more editing than Disturbed. Rise Against also makes a point to not say anything about the RIAA, whereas Disturbed takes an active stand against it. How's that for Punk?

You've got to be kidding; go listen to the average solo off of a Disturbed album. It requires way more skill than anything by Rise Against. And actually, if you listen to the Ten Thousand fists album, the drumming does get pretty heavy.

Plus the two fastest songs I can think of by Rise Against are probably Injection or Bricks.

does speed determine the popularity of a song? does technical guitar riffs and fast solos effect the likeliness of a song being an instant hit? you can make a song with the most epic guitar solo and fast drums and no one will like to listen to it. I never said Rise Against is a bad band. I like Rise Against. But Punk rock is based around simplicity. Nearly every punk rock song is based around 2-5 chords (generally power chords).

@TheRealAngusturtle There is a difference between metal drumming and GOOD drumming. Brandon is a drummer I can listen to and enjoy. Sometimes metal drumming is mindless banging of the set. I love some metal drumming though, it's not all bad. I'm not hating on metal, I like metal, but I think Rise Against is better.
