  • Alison Moyet is a treasure.

  • Like a circle in a spiral

Like a wheel within a wheel

    Never ending or beginning,

    On an ever spinning wheel

    As the images unwind

Like the circle that you find

In the windmills of your mind...

  • Alison Moyet........................what a star, what can I say....im speachless. Ive been a fan since the 80's, she really is a diva. She could sing a sea shanti and make it sound like ....velvet Opera. What an amazing talent. Perfect every time.

    Marry me ..........

  • you must of listened to the wrong song this version is as good as stings if not better

  • she sings very well. I like it. although, no offence, but she sounded like a man in the beggning.

  • Alison Moyet.....fantastic, im speech less. Ive been a fan since the 80's, what a voice. She could sing a sea shanty and her voice would make it sound like.......velvet opera. A lady with a massive talent. Brian.

  • Alison is one of most understimated voices of our generation .she can sing a telephone book !

  • such intense and genius voices are rare today... just stunning

  • Wow

  • Nutsy concxept

    This English sounds French

    Tom in Utica NY

  • just beautiful

  • Like samsonpug I am usually allergic to cover versions but Alison Moyet wears this song like a glove woven with golden thread.

  • she sounds like a man at the beginning! but still very emotional!

  • quaility, beauty, and passion. This woman sings better than i can put into words. So sexy. I love The Thomas Crown Affair and to top it off i found these songs. (((druide106))) I agree totally about the music on the radio

  • Avec dusty springfield c'est l'une des meilleures interprétations de windmills , i think so !

  • masculine voice

  • I love the original of this song and have no time for cover versions. I have just listened to this version by Moyet --I was wrong. This is incredible.

  • Sam U r right

    May I call you Sam

  • where do i know her name from? what else has she done?

  • over 20 self-penned hit singles. where does one begin? Only you, Nobody's Diary, Situation, Don't Go (with Yazoo), Love Resurrection, All Cried Out, Is this love, This House...more recently Should I Feel That It's Over, One More Time, plus covers Weak in the presence of beauty, Love letters, That ole devil called love, Whispering your name, LOADS!!!

  • My goodness! How in the world have I never heard of this woman?? Totally amazing voice. Just beautiful.

  • Comes from a fantastic album......Pretty sure arrangement was by Anne Dudley who also did string arrangement for Will Young's Leave right now and wrote the theme for Fry and Lauries Jeeves and Wooster.

  • When you turn on the radio, you hear only this Mainstreamsh**t why the radio does not play such music? That is still real fantastic music with a magical melody, charm and a nice touch.

    cheers from germany

  • AWESOME...By far the best version of Windmills

  • Most underrated female vocalist of the 20th Century I reckon. Should be up there with Shirley Bassey, and the rest.

    Absolutely divine.

    xxxx

  • Ianclivewright - Absolutely right. Can't get enough of that voice. She is awesome and newer female vocalists must feel inadequate when they listen to her. It must be tough for them to know they can't get near her class.

  • Thank goodness, some one is as sane as me, Alison, vocally is one of the best I have ever listened to. why she has not been globally accepted is beyond me

  • true she is phenomenal

  • Dude. Shirley Bassey sucks.

  • Lovers walk along a shore

And leave their footprints in the sand

Was the sound of distant drumming

Just the fingers of your hand?

  • It's the best version this song I've ever heard!!!

  • Truely great, makes your hair stand on the back of your neck , wow !!!!!!!!!

  • I really liked the version that was on the two ronnie's show with a load of singers (a repeat of the show on UK Gold). Thats where I first heard this song, but I was surprised when my wife started to sing the lyrics when we were watching it.

I just can't believe I never heard of it before.

  • F A N T A S T I C version ! love it !

  • we are singing this in choir!!! I luv it!! the fast version!!

  • Fantastic - sends a chill every time I hear it ! Xx

  • I always love this song, and this version are much better.

  • She's perfect singing this song.

  • apart from the brilliant rendition of this classic track , hasnt Alison done well getting in to shape? She was always an icon for the larger lady, but looks a lot thinner now....just shows what determination can do. Great to see her again, & in such good form..& shape!

  • Alison really brings the haunting quality of this song to the fore - it's a fantastic version. And doesn't her voice just keeps getting better! Wow. Just like some of the other comments, I find myself listening to it over and over and over.

  • I absolutely adore her version. She brings a lot more emotion to the song then anyone I have heard so far. Simply fabulous.

  • trully haunting......kudos to alison moyet....awesome song....

  • what an awesome talent, I agree with "hancar" she just gets better, she should get the global recognition she deserves!

  • Best version!

  • exquisite !! love her voice so distinctive and quite different to someone like Whitney Houston

  • Her breathing is heavy. Overall, she gets the right passion of the song.

  • One of the best songs in music history with wonderful lyrics and an angelic voice, Alison Moyet has been a favourite of mine since the 80's and she's like good wine, she only gets better with age!

  • I can NEVER get enough of this song EVER, regardless of who performs it...it is simply an addictive classic.

  • Soooooooooo wonderful song!

  • AMAZING! Alison is one of the greatest singers who ever lived, and this version brings tears to my eyes!

  • wonderful song by beautiful voice

    i like it

  • i second that

  • I started viewing video's of this song with a version by the Muppets, and have watched about 4 other versions now-- I simply cannot decide who does it best! They are all so incredible. I thought, OK, Sting is really good, then I saw Jose, now this-- HOT!

  • Are people playing wine glasses?

  • f***** alf al over damn yeah she is good awesome version

    and so true ...

  • That is one beautiful voice. I love it.

  • Comment removed

  • who composed the melody ? Lagrand or Mancini?

  • I love this song, and it has been done amazing justice here.

  • Shes got a very unique style of singing; the constant ornamentations she puts in the melody sound very good, almost Middle-Eastern I'd be inclined to say. Any Thoughts?

  • damn that voice caught me off guard!

  • alf..stunning..as always..

  • I always loved the Jose Feliciano version of this song. Alison has the passion spot on though. Does anyone know who wrote it, thought it was Jose but now not so sure. Thanks for posting.

  • one of the best compositions ever with one of the best singers brilliant

  • This lady's voice combined with the song is the most beautiful and chilling combination. Sheer Perfection.

  • wow... her perfromance is so moving.. !

  • Adoro essa voz;

    Adoro essa canção;

    Adoro o q me faz lembrar;

    É perfeita

  • The lyrics are sheer poetry, so utterly beautiful! And Alison is a brilliant singer with a lot of charisma, I just sit and stare at her, mesmerized...

  • you read like a literature student!!!! nice language hancar.......

  • Fantastic.

  • I love to hear a great voice take a song from the past and bring it back to life. Wonderful.

  • Saw this on TV a few weeks ago, made me stop in my tracks and my hair stand up. There's a guy playing wine glasses filled with water! O.o

  • That guy is a lady!

  • You're right! I beg your pardon, when I watched it yesterday it was a bit fuzzy cos my connection was bad, for some reason all the internet in my location was pretty bad but its better today. My apologies.

  • LOL

  • When you knew that it was over

    In the autumn of goodbyes

    For a moment

You could not recall the color of his eyes.........

that part makes me cry :(

  • omg such a great version from Alison, she is so talented.

  • this one is so much better than the one in the thomas crown affair, the guys phrasing in that one is awful

  • I'm surprised you feel that way. I thought the TCA version is much better. The accompaniment on this is nice and Moyet hits the notes more clearly than Sting, but she sounds to forced/melodramatic for my tastes--especially when she tries to improvise for a moment. It sounds like someone singing in a church if you like that sort of thing. Sting has the right personality for the delivery of this song and the electric piano on that version is brilliant. To each their own though.

  • I agree with you 100 % !

    I still like Alison's version though !

Have you heard Dusty Springfield's version ?

    Liked that that too :-)

  • I think its a great rendition. Michel Legrand must do too as he has invited her to sing for him on his upcoming uk tour. I guess he thinks she is right for his songs.

  • agree

  • Haunting. Love Alison Moyet. always loved this (Dusty Springfield) song. 10 stars.

  • A true artist at work. Well done Alison M. Outstanding version of an outstanding song.

  • this is a gr8 song, i luv the lyrics nd emotion of it, she has a gd voice 2

  • Just saw this on the two ronnies, thank you so much for posting

  • Absolutely stopped me in my tracks, filled me with such emotion, so beautiful

  • The lyrics + melody + arrangement + the voice + emotion = perfection! This rendition put a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. I now have a favorite song!

  • God i so love this song...

  • beautiful. just beautiful.

  • easily on a par with Terry Hall's version, they would make an interesting duet with this song.

  • Round Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning On an ever-spinning reel Like a snowball down a mountain Or a carnival balloon Like a carousel that's turning Running rings around the moon Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes of its face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind
  • It's not only the beautiful warm voice - it's especially the way she sings that gives it the deepest meaning.

  • Palavras para que isso é simplesmente Alison Moyet!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song from a great singer !!!!

  • Beautiful - Great Post.

  • heard Yazoo are back together

  • Can't believe he started in a punk band. There's nothing like having talent. Really emotional.
