not realli a retelling, it often has a different storyline but uses the characters there were developed in the original animation. but some others, like kyou no go no ni doesn't hav original animation, but its an OVA cuz it tells of separate stories between each 'episode'

it's finished airing! hav yet to watch a single episode of it yet, looking forward to it ^_^

i know its bad to respond to a month-old note, but seriously, original anime video. it's just that, an independent anime, usually 4-8 "episodes" made as a retelling or a reproduction. the art, plot, animation, and even "essential" bits can be changed
