Burkhalter is a lovable bufoon...Klink is just a dummy, Hochstetter plays the Nasty Gestapo man to a hilt but still vulnerable and Schultzie is a pooch... the Germans of LuftStalag 13 are a hoot but generally harmless.
Of course in real life, these actors are of Jewish descent and would play these roles to ensure the Nazis always lost.
You guys probably didn't know that one of the writers, "Laurence Marks", and one of the directors, "Gene Reynolds", both got their start with "Hogan's Heroes", before moving on to "M*A*S*H".
So there is that connection between "Hogan's Heroes" and "M*A*S*H".
Both of these military comedies contains all sorts of pranks and gags.
William Christopher (Father Mulcahy) appeared a total of four times on HH. Twice as POW Thomas/Foster, and once as an unnamed private in the infantry. And then of course as the British pilot.
How do you get such good audio and video? Hogan's Heroes is my favorite T.V. show

And the actor who played Father Mucaley (sp?) appeared on the show as a British pilot passing through Stalag 13.
