Being prepared for some kind of extended natural disaster is not a bad idea, but being prepared for the SHTF scenario in the classic definition is a whole different ball game. Stocking food, weapons, water and what-not, and having a "fortified" home is a very very flawed strategy when it comes to survival. You might fend off the odd invader, but if a competent group makes a concerted effort to take you down, you are either going to run, or you are going to die in that house.
I have one of the "Stack On" gun safes and it is very good for what it was designed for and that is to keep children, curious adolescents and un-informed adults out of harms way when it comes to picking up a firearm. If you're worried about fire or theft add your guns to your homeowners insurance policy... which isn't a bad idea no matter what safe you may have.
Have you ever watched videos about how if you keep your magazines loaded while in storage it hurts them, the springs in the mags bend into the compact form
@rodlpz actually its not a myth, im not talking a few months or so,im talking about, if you leave the ags fully loaded for a year and a half, you will loose about half a pound of force from the spring, leave it for 10 years ad its dost likely to be dead. its important to see how long they test it for too, 8 months, you wont notice u, but afew years you will. If your saying that this does not happen, you are also saying that metal will not bend when under force. Of course it will bend over time.
That thing is better than nothing it will at least hold a thief off for 30 seconds. Twenty-five seconds to run to the kitchen and get a butter knife and five to open.
What are the dimensions? how big is the shelve? possible to add more shelves? by watching your video looks like it'll work for me. Just want to keep a couple rifles and 4 pistols locked up that's all.
Stack-on cabinets are not really a safe. Better than nothing, but really consider getting an actual safe with thick door and locking bolts on all four sides of it. Then put it in a place where someone couldnt get any leverage to move/push/pull on it, bolt it down.
i would buy fill it something heavy not secure it to the ground ...thelf walks in safe is not bolted down hauls it away ....then hide the firearms in some extra venting next to the water heater
with a 3 foot crowbar you can get into a stack-on safe in roughly 15-30 seconds if you know where to put the crowbar. that is why i am saving up for a fire proof safe
I got some stick-on LED button lights(pack of three) to place in different parts of the case as they're so damn dark in there, has come in handy tons of time!

@440charger2 this is actually a myth. America Handgunner magazine did an extensive article on this.

@mropinion1000 LoL. I think it's more of a tamper-resistant thing for curious kids or unauthorized housemates.

If that's his battle rifle, then it's a battle rifle.
