The 3.0 is a horrible motor. It's got less power than a 4.0, and sucks more gas. Same story against the 3.8 in Windstars and shit; less power, more gas. Sad, really, considering that the Cologne V6 (the 4.0) and the Essex V6 (the 3.8) are both older designs dating back to the days of carburetors. Poor thing.

You´re right. These Rangers are made in Argentina (current ones have different grille and tailights but basically the same truck) and have been exported all over Latin America. The best option is a 3.0 liter Diesel powered Ranger with a Crew Cab (just my opinion)
@miguelmeore No joke. I don't understand why the US market can't build a crew cab Ranger. If they did Ford would have all their problems solved as far as noone being interested in Rangers for their small size. Though I guess that's a double edged sword because why buy a crewcab Ranger when you can buy a extended cab F-150 and get the same fuel economy

Too bad none of those Rangers were Diesel. I don´t know why most of the South American countries import Diesel Rangers from Argentina but Mexico import only the 2.3 liter gasoline models. They used to import Rangers from USA until 2002.

Ford gives no service, honors no warranty and lies about it. According to their customer services you have to: change tires every 12,000, change shocks every 6,000, align the car every 6,000 and change oil every 3,000. Yokohama gives 72,000 to their tires. Don;t buy Ford.
they dont mean change the tires every 12000 idiot, they mean switch them from front to back and back to front so they wear evenly and you get maximum tread life
@complimentsheck Thats exactly what they do! On my 02 ranger twhenever i take it in for tires they say "would you like us to switch around youre tires or would you like new ones?"
Really is a shame, same story in the states. However the Explorer Sporttrac is virtually the same, just smalle bed and bigger interior. Explorers and rangers share ALOT of design simularities. Same chassis, frame, they share the 4.0 V6, same interior, all that. The sport trac is a little big though.

i own one of this, and to those of you who love hemi...this baby has 163 hp at 3.800 rpm, stock, it reaches 170 kph +, but i'm not finding out how much faster it can go, specially in Guatemala, and i own the 2.8 liters, so you can imagine what a 3 liters can do!!!
Yea, the 4 door model isn't sold in USA, because the F-150 is the preferred model in Canada and the US, so it's sold in parts of the world where the Ranger is preferred. However the 4 door model would be a good alternative to an F-150, cause it's a bit bigger than the US Ranger I think, but a bit smaller than an F-150. But I'd still choose a US Ranger with extended Cab. Also I think the 4 door ranger is not available with long bed, not sure.
