Those Wings of Fury are EPIC!! They look awesome, and I really want to paint my Space Marine's like them XD Also your tutorials are really good :) Thank you Alexandra!!
I just got assault on black reach and painted all the space marines like this new chapter. THEY LOOK AWESOME! Thank you for the tutorial and happy painting Alexandra.
alexandra, i normally don't comment on youtube but i've been watching your vids for the last 3 evenings (having started to paint myself) and i just have to drop a line of awe directed at you. YOU ARE SUCH A BOSS! your tutorials have really inspired me and carved a clear path to follow through the land of the noob that i am :)
@GirlPainting Just finished watching your space wolves tutorial, if I wanted to do a more blueish colour do I just add more shadowed grey to the mix for the base coat?
@Ydouneed2nomyname Depends on the color, some colors are opaque enough to cover black in just one coating, others take more, usually your best bet is to water down your paint slightly and put multiple thin coats, allowing each to dry completely in between coats. This will usually give you smoother and more consistant coverage. What color are you trying to paint that is giving you a hard time?
@Ydouneed2nomyname It's possible that you watered down you paints too much to cover in one coating, did you water down the skull white/ mordian blue mixture? Priming with white is an easy fix, just put a basecoat of slightly watered down chaos black. when you water down you paints you dont want to turn them into a wash, you want to use a very, very small amount of water, just enough to make the paint flow smoothly and evenly.
@pyromaster55 Yeah I realised now that it was mostly the thinning that I messed up on. People always say skim milk. But that doesn't workout for me/. I think I'll thin my paints down a little less now and see how that works out. I'll also try putting less paint on the brush and see if that gives me more control. thanks for the tip, I think my second set of SM's will look a better now. Paint dilution and multiple coats has been confusing me for weeks now! mainly because people do it differently.
@Ydouneed2nomyname Yup, it just takes time and patience, You'll keep developing techniques that work for you as your skills improve. I've always used water and it's worked great for me. Welcome to the hobby!
@Ydouneed2nomyname Also Alexandra is a MUCH better painter than I am, but to me it looks like she always over loads her brushes with paint, if you are having trouble controlling where the paint goes try loading your brush less. I know you didn't mention that but it was a problem I had when I first started and I wish someone had told me.
@FearGFX I talk alot. it's my thing. I can't help it. It's a bad habit. It's gotten me in trouble. But that's the way I am.
Anyway those comments were like 2 months ago. Now I'm at an intermediate-ish level(again, intermediate-ISH[not saying experienced at all.]). But anyway, I agree with you on the layers thing. But yeah I talk alot.
Very nice work, sehr schone!,you have inspired me to paint my Iron warriors from 2nd edit in a similar fashion...only problem,175 other chaos warriors will be jealous.Love your work!
I just couldn't wait any longer and painted Wings of Fury space marine yesterday. It looks great and the painting itself is very simple yet good looking! Great idea!
Thank you Alexandra for your Wings of Fury painting tutorial. You made a wish of mine come true. I was mend to ask you for a silver based space marines painting tutorial for the most efficient way to base, shade and highlight a silver “Metal” space marine armor. So You really made me a very happy man today! Thank you Alexandra :)
P.S. Any chance on seeing a Wings of Furry stile “Sisters of Battle” detached unit? :)
This scheme is very similar to one that I used to use. Never made any youtube videos about them however. I do like your take on the scheme a bit better, you actually have chapter symbols on them :)
thanks for the "how to" Alexranda,, but i think i missed a the bit on why you dont drill the barrel out ;). always enjoy your vids my friend cya in the next vid ;)
But have you ever considered using a smaller brush to paint details like eyes or the purity seal writing? I think it would making your painting EVEN better! [if that's possible :D]
@UltramarinesGuides i know that i can do things better with smaler brushes on some parts....but 90% of the time i am just to lazy to switch the brush ;-)
wow!!! such a simple technique, yet so effective. Especially on the knee pads, they look so smooth. I'm thinking of using this technique with my blood legion, but instead of blue, in red!!!

Does the hair dryer speed up the touch dry time or does it really speed the curing time?
Ydouneed2nomyname 7 months ago
how many coats do you normally put for each color? The GW guys didn't explain shit to me and I'm new to painting. Thanks!

pyromaster55 6 months ago
@pyromaster55 I was attempting to follow the steps in this vid but the paint wouldn't cover well. I think I did 2 things wrong:
1. I used white primer on some of the models because that's what I had.
2. I think I thinned my paints too much.
I mixed Skull White with Mordian Blue to get a lighter color for highlights. That's what wouldn't cover well.

@Ydouneed2nomyname for someone new to painting your quite a loudmouth :P
rule for painting is really simple... apply as many layers untill your satisfied with the result :)

@FearGFX Is that an insult or a joke?

@Ydouneed2nomyname well the loudmouth thing is a bit of both... but the rest is very much true

When you put the silver color on space marine, is it still drybrushing? I mean it looks too heavy to me. I though drybrushing uses very powdery paint
UnityCZ 1 year ago
@UnityCZ your right...its more like a heavy drybrush...or overbrushing

You use the same type of highlighting as me, only you're about 500 times better at it >_<.
It definately looks a lot more realistic than just a line around the edges in a lighter shade.

Hmm is it a lid from a can of instant Coffey you use as a pallet?
Rely nice scheme, fast to paint and not to lazy looking.
You do understand that you MUST show us a complete army now with them, if not baby's and kittens will cry, you don´t want that do you?

To make the iscriptions marks on the purity seals I normally use a fine tip black marker. I find it easier that way.
