The only thing that's changed from then until now is the intellect of the comsumer...thank God. At least now we when we're told it's rain, we know it's the wrong color....lol.
This is way before my time, My dad would have been ten or so when this commercial aired. But wow, I never heard of swiveling seats before. Try to find that in any of the common currently made cars today, Heh.
Who is the announcer? He sounds like the late John Facenda, who was a longtime Philadelphia anchor and the original voice of NFL Films (before Jeff Kaye took over in the mid-80s)...
It's a shame that the technology didn't exist in the day to place one of those sleds on the Moon's surface -- to send a strong message to future generations and outer planets that we are not a force to be reckoned with.
I’d sleep better at night knowing a Dodge was suspended in the heavens overlooking our welfare, and you would too.
I would ALMOST trade my 56' Mercury wagon for this one! But,nnaaa, I will keep the wagon! This is a gorgeous car, when American cars were made with quality! And accelerator pedals didn't stick like,uh, Prius's!
@56Mercgal actually, Ford had some problems during the late 50's with throttle wires getting stuck on some engines, causing the same effect as if the gaspedal was stuck. Chrysler had another problem on the DeSoto where the brake pedal lost all force, and gave no effect. ;)
Steel forged in the pits of hell! demon automotive engineering!
Thats what the car looks like from the front also imagine installing a fog machine on the underside of this car and have it run when the car is parked in a alley xD
actually im in the process of title transfer and that, diddnt recieve it yet. speedo/gauges are a little sketchy, but nice. and im in love with that damn pushbutton transmission and front grille. ill pose a video with revs and that when its all cleared
This is still a great country, but we could get the government out of the car business and go back to building strong cars. The '59 Virgil Exner styled Dodge is one of my favourite 50's cars!
darn, what a good time it was, all the things you needed were in those cars, it was the golden age of automobile, we can easily see that almost everything which concerns automobile came out this time, for example the swing-in swing-out seat, marvelous.
God what a gorgeous car ,, from a Time when More was More ,, Now its Less ,, a LOT Less , For a LOT MORE

Hi! I'm Troy McClure! You may remember me from such car advertisements as, "Nash Rambler - America's pedal car." and "Edsel! - Whoops!"

I LOVE the front end! The car just looks pissed off and angry because of the eyebrow trim over the headlights that furrow downward toward the center.

I love every angle of the car, but you are right - it looks very aggressive.
MoskvaMorten 1 year ago
@monaco74 Hey, have you ever seen a '61 Plymouth? Talk about an angry car!

Way meaner looking than the Plymouth. The Plymouth had a way meaner name though; Fury. Quite possibly the coolest name for a car ever.

I think this car would have been better in the movie "Christine". It looks meaner than the Plymouth.
Tennesseedolly 3 years ago
nah, christine was the car of a teenager. the sport fury was a sportscar. but I agree with you; the front looks very aggressive.
