  • ugly motherfucker

  • I've noticed you've had Nancy Drew books, are you a reader of detective books? Cause I have one that you may be interested in.

  • i have said it befor but i will say it again. i FUCKING love your reviews

  • @georgeson4 Thank you.

  • 1.how comes you assume that everything that is weird is deep?

2.film brain does a better review that U though it isn't as funny IT AT LEAST ENDS THE REVIEW WHERE THE FILM ENDS!

  • Plus let's not forget the City itself is a character....but not as written good as Gotham City is written as a Character in the DCU Reboot.

  • And you forgot this one: Miller ruined Robocop 2 and 3....

  • @Fritic87 I cut him some slack there. Cause there was no way anyone was going to top the original.

  • @Fritic87 Miller is not entirelly responsible of robocop 3 (2 was okay and 3 is a guilty pleasure for me), in fact this one have praticly nothing to do with Miller except an Idea. It's more the producers hungry for money who ruined it and make it more kidly friendly and... just stupid.

  • Excessive violence, boobs and a sexually obsessive, insecure and needy male lead character...Yep. Pretty much sums up The Spirit.

  • bust sucker punch it's just as bad if not worst than this movie

  • the movie was not THAT BAD

  • 3:53 Erod no! Don't give into the movie!

  • ACTION SEQUENCE!!! LOLOLOL!!!

  • "Duh, I want to direct a movie too" Is pretty much, what Miller thought about the production of Robocop 3, he said that "If you want to make movie be a director not a writer, since director can change the script as he pleazes"

  • What's that music you play sometimes before you wake up? That real soft music?

  • @dekead Oh, it's called Morning Mood by Peter Grieg (I might have misspelled his name)

  • Theu NEED to make a Lobo movie

  • @mina319 No, because they'd screw that up too.

  • @DemonicRemption You never know, btw im not saying the director of the spirit should do a lobo movie I mean a good director like possibly zack synder or the director of Iron man etc

  • They shouldve just made this about the girls!

  • I can see someone enjoying it if they have no knowledge of the comic its based on...but even in those shoes I can't find myself enjoying what I saw in the review :/

So, yeah, great review though! :D

  • @rraazze Thanks.

  • I have to say this- In the opening, you should make that shot where you're about to bash the movie somewhat tighter since we can see that you pulling the blow at the last second.

  • I never read the comic, but I went to see this with a group of friends and we loved it BECAUSE it was so over the top and tried not to make sense.

  • @ERod2010-first you criticize for not following comicbook material, then you criticize for following the comicbook frame for frame(sin city) wtf? its hard to take a reviewer seriously when they trash everything for sport.....is there a movie you totally love? and if there is,that must be one perfect movie.

  • @dignerds This movie doesn't follow the comic at all, out side of having some of the characters.

  • hahaha apologies. Didnt mean to sound like I was ranting, I really did like this review.

  • @sandmanzcommin08 There, you go. Short, simple, to the point. Throw in a joke and I'll make you the understudy for my BFF.

  • @ERod2010 Awesome! Thank you. Oh, and by the way...*punch* I grew up with Batman Forever, you jack-wagon! :P lol.

  • Frank Miller does what Frank Miller does best....for better or worse. :P lol. When I heard Frank Miller was gonna do this movie I already knew what I was gonna expect, I already knew it was gonna be around the same lines as Sin City. I'm not saying Miller is God, but he's Frank fucking Miller! He should've showed a little more effort. Their should've been no reason why The Spirit made less money than fucking Twilight. Good review nonetheless, keep it up.

  • Sure this movie had some bad moments....okay, it had alot of bad moments but i think I'm one of the 5 people in the world that actually enjoyed this movie. That doesn't make me an idiot or naive or anything, I just happen to find enjoyment despite everything else. The same goes for Batman Forever, Ghost Rider and Snakes On A Plane. SLJ was awesome as always, the action scenes were silly but satisfying, the imagery just screams "Noir", and...........

  • @sandmanzcommin08 Look, Sandman. No one is saying your dumb for liking these movies. I respect and value your opinion. All I ask in return is not to send me a long ass essay explaining it. In the future I encourage you to disagree with me using 2 to 3 sentences which preferably end with a joke (FYI it's okay if this joke is made at my expense)

  • @sandmanzcommin08 Well, I found it amusing at the very least, but it was just really weird and off the wall.

  • Miller presents

    Eye Candy: the movie

  • It also ruined my Christmas! FUCK THIS MOVIE!!!

  • @inuyashavsnaruto This Damn Movie is worst than The Grinch.

  • @ERod2010 THAT ruined my childhood. Could you bust it around Christmas please?

  • @inuyashavsnaruto The one with Jim Carrey? Sorry No, the only thing wrong with it is that they added extra crap that the story didn't need.

  • @ERod2010 I understand. By the way what program do you use to put all your reviews together and for special effect, because I'm thinking of being a critic as well. Mostly films and games.

  • @inuyashavsnaruto Final Cut.

  • Man, everytime I watch your opening I suddenly want to watch the first Star Wars movie again... AAAAH!! GET OUT OF MY BRAIN, LUCAS!!

  • @Jradgex That was NOT my intent at all... sorry.

  • @ERod2010 Damn... Lucas must be stopped, he's even able to advertise himself inside funny Internet critic videos without the funny Internet critic knowing... the perfect, very confusing, crime.

  • The comic is fun, original, and very entertaining. The movie is just a bunch of cliches trying to be a movie.

  • youcalledit! yer all right, edster!

  • i liked The spirit. so STFU

  • @BRm2008 Your acronyms no effect on me.

  • @BRm2008 The Spirit made no fuckin sense and no explanations were given at all and everytime everyone talked my ears bled from just trying to understand what they were saying.

  • @orichalcossaiyan well lord of the rings made no sence to me.

  • What made no sense about it a young hobbit must return the one ring to the place it was created in order to destroy it what's not to get? This film just put seemingly random assed shit in your face and I felt like I was secretly put on drugs while watching it.

  • "he kicked octopus in the face because of a cat" so a cats life means nothing to you, oh hang on, i would congratulate octopus if he killed you rather than kick him.

  • @eliasz0002 He killed millions of people including the Spirit... but the cat was the last straw? A little silly don't you think?

  • @ERod2010

you did not mention that in your review. if someone killed my cat i would have gone mental on them. sorry about that little comment i've made, but sometimes i get angry at people who only think about their own species.

  • @eliasz0002 No reason to be alarmed, it's just a make-believe movie and a make-believe review. Technically the cat's still alive.

  • @ERod2010

    lol, i know :D

  • you hate anime

  • @thelooneytunesman No, it just doesn't appeal to me, but I'll watch an anime show every now and then.

  • I could never understand what the hell went on in this movie. It was like a mindfuck but without any sense to it whatsoever this whole movie was like acid, pot, and Exctasy given life.

  • Frank Miller used to be my favorite comic book writer til this movie

And this movie is a "Cult Movie"?! Cult Movie is Fight Club, Princess Bride, and this movie is Cult because of "it's unique CGI".....that was done BEAUTIFULLY not gross like in Sin City?

  • @Conspirator19 Geez the cults can keep this movie.

  • @Conspirator19 bullshit. this movie is good. its malarky but its fun

  • Well, as Linkara has said, Frank Miller has gone crazy after Sin City (the comic) lol

  • @EmoKidRH Geez, you can say that again.

  • who is the woman that gave you the drink near the end?

  • @allthingssuper My producer.

  • ••• Erod and Lucile Against The Spirit•••

Erod - Darmok on the ocean.

The Spirit - The beast at Tanagra.

Erod - Zinda, his face black, his eyes red. Uzani, his army with fists open.

The Spirit - Kiteo, his eyes closed.

Lucile - Uzani, his army with fists closed.

The Spirit - Shaka, when the walls fell.

Erod - Mirab, with sails unfurled. "Thousands more to go."

  • @RandomLee731 Random Lee & ERod - Darmok & Gelad at Tenagra

  • when i first rented this, i was horrified that it was so fukin awful, basically all (random/weird/tasteless) show and no (maybe buried deep under piles upon piles of shit) substance. I literally couldn't believe frank miller had been behind such a project. This one of those movies you go from "how can they (miller) fuk this up?" to "You fuked it up on purpose didn't you, u prick.".....damn i could go on forever about this one...

  • @MrJoshy77 Yup that was pretty much my reaction.

  • Comment removed

  • Is Will Eisner, the original artist of this comic, related to the Disney mogul?

  • @CapyGuy I don't think so, and I'm not sure why he would always sign his name using the Disney font, but I'm really sure he use that font first. It might just all be a big coincidence.

  • I do know that i have watched this film but i can't for the life of me remember anything about it.

    Anyways.....ACTION SEQUENCE!!!

  • @finalsight oh yes, action sequence indeed.

  • @xboxlivegb Him not agreed, even if sin city is just the comics on movie, they've still interesting story and good character, and the image are really impressive, in the spirit, it's like someone wanted to copy sin city, but without effort of imagination, that a shame when it's the creator of sin city who does that. and the story is lame, the only character I'm kind of like is Jackson for is personality, but that it.

  • @xboxlivegb ... um... DUH!!!

  • @ERod2010 If only because Sin City was a story we got from Frank Miller back when he was capable of taking ANYTHING seriously!!!

  • @leaderstragg Ha! Agreed!

  • @ERod2010 You want to know what the sad part is? Some of Frank Miller's fans actually LIKE this movie! If only because it doesn't take itself to seriously! The only problem I have with that? This movie's ONLY redeeming quality is that it doesn't take itself too seriously!!! Honestly! I know he's done a lot of cool stuff over the years, but does even Frank Miller deserve that kind of loyalty?!

  • @leaderstragg While I believe that every successful creator should be aloud one bomb, Miller has had way too many bombs in a row, plus he had an enormous and rare opportunity to make a movie and he blew it, that's what really burns my ass.

  • @ERod2010 I once saw an behind the scenes interview with Frank Miller on this movie and (I shit you NOT) pretty much ALL he talked about was how good the women in it looked! (It was downright disconcerting how often he used the word "beautiful"!) Ummm, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't "The Spirit" comic about more than just good-looking ladies and how easily the Spirit can get them to throw themselves at him?!

  • @leaderstragg As much as like to look at the lovely ladies of The Spirit, I like a little bit more substance with my movies.

  • @ERod2010 Yup, that's what I'm talking about! It's literally as if when that person came to him at Will Eisner's funeral to tell him he was given the right to make "The Spirit" into a movie he said to himself: "Hmmm, I wonder how I'm going to pull this off? I mean it's not like I can just make this a parody of "Sin City" like I do with EVERYTHING I write now... Can I?... MUHUHAHAHAHAAAA!!!" And it ALL went downhill from there...

  • AAAhhahahaahahahhahaha! You actually watched it!

I tired twice but it hurt too much. I think Hollywood could not find anyone worse to present the Spirit on the big screen. Miller and all his writing is the exact opposite of the spirit genre non withstanding. This is one of the worst movies of all time especally when you consider all the resources that went into it.

  • @Trencher1375 Yeah laugh it up big boy, when you least expected it you're going to end up getting all excited about a movie that ends up being absolute crap and then you'll be all like"ERod please bust this movie, it sucks" and I'm going to laugh a hearty laugh... and then I'll probably bust it... But I'm still going to laugh really loud!!!

  • @Trencher1375 Well, maybe they can find someone worst, like Uwe boll, Brett Ratner, Tomy wiseau (ho my good, the image in my head, Slow lame action scene whith the spirit play By Wiseau screaming "YOU ARE TEARING ME APPART OCTOPUS", and there, we see a sex scene with a big shoot of Tommy Wiseau ass, HAAAAAAAAAAAA) Bruno matei or the two dumbass who's directed the wort movie of all time : DISASTER MOVIE.

  • @Trencher1375 It's worse than you might think, there are actually people out there who LIKE this movie! (Of course that's probably only because it doesn't take itself too seriously, but as far as I'm concerned, THAT'S ONE OF IT'S ONLY REDEEMING QUALITIES!!!)

  • I dig your OldBoy style get-up. Hammer and all!

  • @QuatermassMan Hell Yeah, I love that movie. I'm not dressed like him on purpose, but I'm proud to play tribute to him in a subconscious level.

  • After seeing Sherlock Holmes, I'd have been curious to see what Guy Ritichie might have done with The Spirit.

  • @nightowl685 ...Why?

  • @ERod2010 i just thought the general tone of the movie was closer to eisners work than anything miller was able to come up with (albeit it was completely the wrong country and time frame, but it still had that sort of "dramatic, but mixed with tongue in cheek" feeling that Eisner always put into his stories). Professor Moriarty, even in his breif appearances, was far more like the Octopus of the comics, and he wasn't even trying to be, lol.

  • @nightowl685 I see were you're coming from. Personally I see the Spirit as a cross between Dick Tracy and Road To Perdition. Wacky comic book shenanigans with a dramatic back drop. But your angle is very interesting and a hell of allot more accurate than Frank Miller's.

  • @ERod2010 thank you, as is your's. such a shame about miller. this guy used to be a fine writer. what happen to him?

  • @nightowl685 What happen to Miller? People keep telling him he is a great righter, that's what's wrong with him. Adversity makes good writers extraordinary, all he needs is some one to walk by, tell him he sucks, knock him down a notch, and I guarantee you that he will write a story that will knock our socks off. But for as long as he thinks he's awesome, he's going to keep writing crap.

  • @ERod2010 I think that might be what happened to George Lucas, once he became successful enough, people just kept sucking up to him until one day he said "I'm going to shove a racially insensitive version of Bugs Bunny into the Star Wars universe for no reason at all!" And everyone just rolled with it!

  • @leaderstragg "Hey guys I have a great Idea, lets make a fun Star Wars Saturday morning cartoon, but forget about Luke, and Han. Lets use all the lamest and blandest characters in the series. THE KIDS WILL LOVE IT!!!!

  • @ERod2010 And what REALLY makes me sick is that it MIGHT not have been so bad if it took place in an alternate universe where Like's father may or may not become Darth Vader, but as far as I know it DOESN'T! So we pretty much know how the story ends and it all seems POINTLESS! ARGH!!!

  • Great review! Visually I thought the movie looked really good but the story was horrible

  • @SpaceOdyssey44 I 100% Agree.

  • The look on your face as you woke up on Christmas morning is how I felt, until I saw it. Oh, Frank Miller, why have you forsaken thee?

    Great review.

  • @CinemaInsane Thank you Orm. I'm glad somebody shares my pain.

  • Great review, horrible movie. Wow, you met Batman, Jeanie, and Patrick Swayze all in one epsiode.

  • @70alt1 Unfortunately The Swayze couldn't make it

  • You named the hammer Lucille? All right.

This movie is acid. I felt high after I left the theatre.

  • @Alkimodon I know it's not as epic as Mljoneir.

  • @ERod2010 It still breaks bad movies easily enough though, right?

  • I am so glad I didn't go see this movie.

  • @johnnyhorror92182 Buddy you have no idea how much I envy you.

  • LOL, pretty good review. You should try taking on Ghost Rider in the near future.

  • @Darthpsychonis Ghost Rider is definitely on my Hit List. I'm soooo exited to review it I feel like my skulls on fire...weird.

  • That intro was friggin hilarious xD

"You can take those Christmas presents and shove 'em up your ass! :D"

  • @Dukklord Sadly that's very close to what I said on the horrific Christmas when I saw This movie.

    The Horror....The Horror...

  • @ERod2010 ._. well gladly you saved me from this horrible movie with your review lol

  • @Dukklord Well THANK THE LORD!...I mean...thank you.

    ERod

  • @ERod2010 Wow xD lmao

  • @ERod2010 Why would you want presents when you can see the Spirit treat women like prostitutes, outsmart the Octopus through sheer dumb luck, and try to get Sam to change her ways by annoying her into shoving him out a window!... Hmm, coming back from the dead didn't up his I.Q. any did it?...

  • Awesome review like always. btw Good Burger made almost three times as much money as this movie... I actually liked it hehe... Like a good friend of mine once said, this movie is schizophrenic!

    btw: first?

  • @Archaeos It most be good if The Got freaking Abe Begoda to be in it!!!!

  • @ERod2010 According to the Nostalgia Critic, HE was the ONLY good thing in that movie! LOL

  • Samuel L. Jackson looks so stupid in this movie, i would rather see him getting eaten by a genetically enhanced sharks or fighting stupid looking cgi snakes on a plane

  • @The0men527 Genetically enhanced Sharks? CGI Snakes? I wish they made movies like that. I would watch those mother fucking movies in the mother fucking theater!

  • @ERod2010 lol have you ever seen Deep Blue Sea or Snakes On A Plane????
