  • This is what I telll my 10 years old daughters :

If You didn't fall... You haven't being skiing!

  • You are lucky to make it down.

  • Bode Miller is the legend!!

  • 0:14 HE BE SHITTIN

  • I am and therefore I ski

  • Where can i find this film?!

  • 2 words. Bode Miller.

  • @roadrunnerblink Downhill is almost 80% about the line you take. If your a stronger/technically better skier you can ski a faster more aggressive line.

  • I SKI THEREFORE I AM THANKFUL I STILL AM

  • maybe a silly question but as a non-skier i gotta ask, why is there seperate events for men and women downhill? surely gravity is the same for everyone? again apologies for the potential stupidity of this question.

  • @roadrunnerblink Plenty of reasons - weight and strength mostly. These two have a huge impact on the outcome.

  • @roadrunnerblink In skiing, women are naturally better technical skiers because not many have the strength that the men do, and men make up for their technical disadvantage by their brute strength, that is why there is a mens and a womens DH. 'Surely gravity is the same for everyone' DH, is not all about gravity, its about how you flex and the ski in the turn, the more you flex the ski during the turn, the more it pushes back, and the more speed you get at the end of the turn = YOU WIN :)

  • This is why is sky slalom >.>

  • This is some of the worst skiing ive ever seen

  • Downhill=Forever

    Shane McConkey and CR Johnson=Legend

  • Could Bode sound less excited when he says exciting? :P

  • The video is awesome; the interviews gayish.

  • If nordic was easy, they'd call it alpine.

  • @nerdmeistergeneral Check out Nordic Ski Jumping > it GETS after it in a big way!

  • @ Alos21, this is as real and extreme as it gets, fighting and running is nothing compared to downhill or super-g, it requires strenght, endurance, the power to anticipate at 90mph. that for real man!

  • 1:45 oh god!!

  • Who are the skiers at 1:13, 1:31, 1:42 and 1:46? I recognize only Picabo Street and Bode Miller in this video. Thanks :)

  • I hate elitistic sports !! Fighting and running are for real man !

  • This is insane

  • who is the one at 1.28?

  • skiing is fantastic .. skiing fast is addictive ;-)

  • I'm a freeskier and I normally hate gapers but I respect these guys alot. Going that fast would be insane

  • @Duenskie22 Dude, racers aren't gapers, gapers are shoobs, tourists broheam, these are real skiers. on the real.

  • @CHRONBOMBSINURBUTT69 To me sir, they are gapers.

  • @Duenskie22 Then you sir, are a wanna be douche munching ass hole.

  • @CHRONBOMBSINURBUTT69 Go into the terrain park and tuck faggot

  • @Duenskie22 No tucking bro, I'll just after bang the shit out of that clit after i flat spin nine and stomp the shit out of it, then suit up and go 90 mph. Turd muncher.

  • What is the name of the racer at 1:28? Oh also I have skied the valdesaire dowhill and the Kandahar Chamonix.

  • @mcbainyourway

    It is Gernot Reinstadler...Wengen 1991

  • The DH...I have gone down the old DH in Snowbasin on my board. The time, about 3 minutes. Despite the fact that the good times were 1:30's, 2:30-3:00 is scary. Doing it at racing speed must be a real thrill. Yes, you feel compressed hard on some areas. The top of the Grizzly DH is dangerous because people stop right before the turn and right under the crest to look down.....

    Awesome.

  • @cmdmd haha i raced at snowbasin today and did grizzly in my free time

  • downhill is too scary. I prefer slalom

  • CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!!!!! This video would be an interesting doc on this event except it shamelessly sensationalizes the danger aspect of downhill. Caters to the crowd that gets off on watching others' pain. If you're not into that, it's not worth buying.

  • its fun! i've broke my femure ski racing and im still at it baby!!!

  • I've broken the 100Km/h marker before, scary as hell! The second you think about messing up you do, you've got to have insane mental control as well as physical control to pull this off.

  • lol 0:15

  • You guys need to change to X-Country skiing!

  • Hell yeah! Proud racer right here!!

  • every part of this exept for the 90mph jumping looks like a blast to me

  • @phil656565 wat about the crashes, those look fun 2?

  • @skigrrl13 ive crashed at 50 before why not up the ante, even if they break legs arms or whatever else it would still be worth it

  • I found it in amazon-de but the dvd is region1..any idea on how i can watch it in europe?

  • @askourtop plenty of dvd players can be made region-free just by entering special code on a remote controller. it definitely works for yamahas, onkyos, pioneers and philipses and pbly for many others

  • Very interesting, insightful doc. Personally, the editing is a bit jumpy. I would have let the clips run longer, especially the slo mo shots. And you have to like crashing, as there's a LOT of it here. A third of the DVD is about crashes and injuries. Not that that's not a reality here, but...watching a brutal crash 5 times in a row? Stupid. Would exchange all that for more shots of these amazing athletes ripping down the mountain. Cool extras DVD. Available on Amazon. Worth getting.

  • Sorry, still can't find it anywhere. Could you send me a link? Desperate to get my hands on it.

    Thanx

  • I agree with you. They showed too much pictures of crashes and i would see more of the whole spectrum in the starthouse and the nowadays generation of downhill skiers from Zwitserland to America. Not only Americans.

  • where can i get the full video???

  • There's nothing more exhilarating than the adrenaline from a downhill run. It's like a drug.

  • At speed (100+kph) and in a turn, you're fighting off over 3 G's.

In other words, for a 200lb skier, his downhill leg is carrying 600lbs of pressure to get the ski to turn. Every few seconds, for 2 minutes, in a crouch. The lactic acid buildup is obscene.

The worst turn: The Mausefalle in Kitzbuehl is a jump and a steep, rocketing you into a compression (a sudden steep to flat, compressing the skier and pushing them backwards off their edge) into a hard left turn. This turn is a crash machine

  • is that where herman maier had that insane crash?

  • No that was Nagano '98. It was a fast straight section followed by a hard right, into a fall-away drop, followed immediately by a hard left. He launched wrong and landed sideways trying to follow the course. A lot of people crashed at that turn that day, too

  • It was a hard left, at Nagano. But that was _not_ Maier's 'insane crash.' Fail !

  • @OuchCube75 Gee idk it was pretty insane to me. And it was initially a right on the flat into a left on the pitch with a delay gate. But whatever

  • I SKI THEREFORE I AM

  • if anybody has dowload links please message me

  • lol

  • i met bode in switzerland, really nice guy, one of the most raw talents out there in my opinion

i used to race and i fell once probably going 60 mph and that has to be the worst feeling on earth (loud as hell too). i cant imagine getting caught in the A fence or falling down a knoll like daniel albrecht did this year

ski racing is the best sport on earth. nice video!

  • Perfect sport. I love alpineski! Hermann Maier the best =)

  • No no no no no.... TOMBA! >;-)

  • :) you make me happy.

  • @9401699 hermann maier and bode miller are legends

  • anybody know if this DVD is still available for sale? google has not been able to help

  • nice railer. I used to ski fast (like 50 mph) when I was a kid, but now I seldom get over 35 mph. The downhillers are truly an elite group of racers.

  • is there anywhere available for download? if anybody knows let me know

  • i bought this dvd just this past year... its amazing

  • where can i find this documentary??

  • hahahah ok a lot of sports are dangerous but a lot of times in downhill if you fall you won't stund up gain..

Its very dangerous to run with 140 km/h without mechanical support, just on your own legs...

  • How many surfers died because of falling into the water? :)

  • I get a feeling that woman is a lesbian. and she likes to say superG a lot, for no reason, other than the fact to hear herself say it. she destroyed the trailer.

  • she's not,I know her. her name is Pekabo Street and she was in the olympics.

  • lol. its because she won gold in the super G in the japan olympics.

  • What a completely idiotic thing to say, and who the hell cares. If her saying Super G a few times ruined the trailer for you, then you need to get a life. You're talking about an awesome skier, but obviously you weren't aware of that.

  • Woah... boy its so exciting... i wanna try...

  • ian houser!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh my goodness, what a jump! he's 3 meters in the air!!!

  • 1:11 omg :o

  • ACOJONANTE

  • this is an awesome video. i think you can get it at amazon or on the jalbert film website

  • Yes! Go to jalbertfilm-com, a banner offering 2-disc DVD set "Thin Line" will pop-up.

I was not able to find the movie on Amazon though.

  • i love this video, it gives me shivers. the part about how u feel in the start gate is so true. its amazing.

  • WHERE DO U GET THIS ON DVD?

  • THIS IS SO BADASS

  • does anyone know how i can buy this film?

  • When near jump-parts (check 01:20, 02:16), during a DH race, someone quivers hearing the aerodynamic noise of skier's mass flying at 80mph

  • goshhh this video seems so bad ass I need to see it!!!!

and peek a boo street is so so bad ass she knows what she is talking about!

and BODE MILLER ahhh is my hero my future husband right thurrr

  • best video i've seen so far....everyone who experienced it will love this video...skiing is my life....and all the skiers in this video (including bode Miller are my idols!!!)

  • I FEEL THE NEED... THE NEED FOR SPEED!:)

I am hoping that they make this video available on DVD soon... And wonder like auto racers... if downhill racers, although they are going so fast, are completely aware of their surroundings as the go... Like noticing the guy in the orange parka have way down... ect... And I wonder how far ahead on the course do they mentally ski...?

    Thanks for posting this...

  • good question and the answer is no

  • Why would they not put it on DVD?

  • i wasnt talking about that, i was answering his first question.

  • I admit that it is one of the most dangerous sports in the world but more than like likely your gonna live. It been a while since some one has died going dh skiing. But ya its pretty scary. In europe you have to be 16 to go dh skiing but I cant wait to go dh skiing.

  • The dipshit yapping BS here about the skills of the American skiers apparently knows nothing about skiing, probably wouldn't even know how to put on the gear, let alone ski.

Nothing gives a better rush than downhill skiing. It's (almost) better than sex :)

  • i love downhill skiing but try skydiving. not a bad rush there also! It's not one or the other. It's skiing and skydiving both!!!

  • Does anyone know if you can still see the whole movie?

  • Does anyone know where I can view Franz Klammers 76 Insbruck run in its entirety? Thanks for your help.

  • Good Luck! I think ABC TV has it in their archives. Maybe someday it will be released. I have searched all over for it and have had no luck.

  • ski racing is everything. its the best sport out there and thats why i race.

  • Cool video .Takes me back

  • im sorry but im pretty shure AMERICANS dominated the world cup this year.....and not people from where ever the hell your from

  • Thanks Tom!

  • i am not sorry

  • americans are idiots. clickity click. laughable morons.

  • did you really say that about picabo street? she could ski your ass into the ground!

  • yanks couldnt do shit. never have. and now it's perfectly obvious as their glass house of marketing hype bullshit fell on its dirty arse.

just wait a week or two and you won't afford a tank of petrol, you dumb stupid exceptionally pompous disgusting vulgar yank snout.

  • you are a joke.

  • ski racing is everything

  • My hearts pumping just watching, brings back memories 80+ mph at JayPeak, finishing top 15 n Vermont States DH Mt Snow... oh those were the days.. Love it!!! Thanks for the Rush

  • This movie is super. I am a skier and I know what is to be Downhill and Super G racer.

  • People die racing Downhill and Super G, nothing comical or laughable about it! Ski to Die!

  • hey who is the women in the video

  • Picabo Street. She won a Gold Medal in the Nagono Japan Olympics in the Super G. I think she won 12 World Cup Downhills. She now works at Park City Utah Ski Resort.

  • Even if some people think this is cheesy.. it's totally true

there's no other feeling like racing a downhill or in the starting gate of one. and it's either your 100% focused, or your soo screwed.

I lost focus for a split second at my last downhill race.. i packed it and got taken down in an ambulance..

    it's pretty serious.

  • eya happend to my olso i whas at the national team of belgium hehe :p

  • you comedian, get outta here

  • Are your initials LA? Good Luck and Godspeed with your future ski racing!

  • not true.. the feeling coming out of the starthouse going into a slopestyle or halfpipe event is just as exhilarating... i've done both freestyle and alpine racing comps, and i feel just as stoked in either of them.

you lose your focus in a slopestyle event, and overshoot a jump, or overrotate.. and goodbye knees.

  • yeah but u probably weren't competing in 75-80% steep hills and traveling down on around 100 m/ph..

  • Man if I could reach at least those 100kmph, not speaking about 100mph. 8) But I suppose it's leg-muscles what limits free-time skiers from going that fast.

  • yeah the size of their legs are about the size of my lil bro XD

  • Not really if you go in a straight line you can reach those speeds (assuming you tuck and that your skis are decent) its turning that those speed that takes leg muscle.

  • Ofcourse it is turning (and bumps) what creates pressure on muscles, but there is always something that forces you to turn where I use to ski - either curved track or slower skiers.

Maybe one day I will visit some extreme downhill slope, even free-time skiers reach much higher speeds there...

  • Wow!Can you tell me where i can find the complete documentary?

  • it will be released on DVD

  • Ok.Thank you so much

  • you're welcome, the information is directly from VOOM HD Networks

  • i remember my first speed race.. i was so scared

where was ther hermann maier nagano fall?

  • can't wait till my Super-G competition! :D

  • hehe i just had mine, but i was dq for swearing int he course... wtf LOL

  • idk about that, i think they bring it a bit to far

  • I love the woman who thinks she's such a badass - like she's explaining going into battle

"when you put your feet in the bindings"

    hahahha

  • Thats Picabo Street and she knows what she is talking about! She had a brutal crash and was almost killed.

  • yeah, click, click, and bindings are on, thats what that means, the second click.

what a dumb stupid yank bitch. laughable!

  • if you knew anything about ski racing, or what is good for you, you would know that the second click means that the bindings are set on about 24, and not to make fun of her because she knew more about ski racing out of the womb than you do now, so why don't you stay quiet about shit you know nothing about.

  • Well done...it's like that!!!Thank you,grazie.

  • soooo cheesy

  • Seeing this makes me so exited for my DHs & SGs

  • Now that's AWESOME !

  • fuckin the best

  • Awesome; upload more
