  • Yea baby Canes are the 1 in that 11-1, it's all about the U lol, we're the reason only 3 or 4 teams use this offense nowadays

  • Just think if Stoops would of had De'mond Parker his senior year.....

  • You chicken shit mother fuckers. Get that song back on here. Don't take it off just to be dicks. It went well with this video.

  • Stoops is a lost soul without his brother. And let's be honest. Kevin Wilson couldn't shine Mark Manginos shoes in a million years. And neither could Chuck Long. Don't be fooled by how many points we score in alot of our games. It's nothing more than great players making plays. Mangino never had as many weapons as Wilson, but he still knew how to call plays that would work in BIG games against GOOD opponents. Wilson has no imagination, and it shows in the bowl games. We'll go 12-2 again

  • Stoops is too god damn fuckin dumb to man up and do what's right. I'll tell you this much, Kevin Wilson is no genius either. You see how real defenses tear our asses up, it's becuz he has no imagination, no creativity, just like Chuck Long. Those guys couldn't call plays to save their lives against elite teams. The fact that we score so many points in the regular season and then get held to 14 against Florida just proves that he's not calling anything special. Basic shit. Venables sucks too.

  • Calm down holmes. Breath, stretch, shake it, and let it go...Breath, stretch, shake it, and let it go. I feel your frustration.

  • this was real OU football.....this shit now with bob stoops is a fuckin joke. he and his overrated coordinators couldn't coach in a big game to save their lives....we've got all the talent in the world, and yet, we can't win any big games, we simply go out and beat up on the weaker teams, nothing more, talent isn't the problem, it's coaching, OR LACK THEREOF...we need Mike Stoops back.

  • For some strange reason I thought ever since Mike Stoops left OU, the team hasn't been able to win the bowl games like they should. Starting with the title game against LSU (and you know the rest). Defense wins championships and Brent Venerbles(defensive coordinator) isn't getting the job done. I feel frusturated when OU goes to the big bowls games and lose. Maybe Stoops should step in and call more of the defensive plays. Well, thats my opinion...

  • I agree with you 100%!!! That is when OU lost its swagger!!! Also, OU needs a deep therat at receiver as well, a person who can beat press coverage!!

  • Deep threat receiver? Hmmmmm, perhaps you're right. They need an "X-factor"...someone who can change the course of the game (both offense & defense). Kinda like Torrance Marshall, Rocky Calmus, and or Roy Williams from Coach Stoops early years. They really needed DeMarco Murray for the past two bowl games. Only if he was healthy towards the end of those seasons...

  • i read that the 87 sooners were the only team ever to lead the nation in these categories-- total offense avg- 499 yds per game, total defense 207 yds per game, most points 43 per game, and fewest points allowed 7.5 per game.

  • BTW, CT has recanted and apologized for much of the material in his autobiography, which was pretty hard to believe to begin with. It was written by his lawyer while he was in jail.

  • CT was busted at the end of the 1988 season.

  • this program was so corrupt its ridiculous!! was this the year Charles thompson got sent to prison?

  • Hugo, OKC, Norman Stand Up!

  • I'm reading CT's autobiography. Helluva book, hellauva team. Lookin forwars to seeing the 2 best in the nation collide 4 the title in '09, the Sooners & Trojans. Boomer Sooner bitches!- "Dhamm818 the L.A. Okie"

  • lol, Anthony Stafford is my next door neighbor haha

  • I lived down the hall from one of Staffords high school teammates during my freshman year of college.

Two great running backs came out of St. Louis that year. Stafford from Sumner and Tony Van Zant from Hazelwood Central.

Stafford went to OU, had a pretty good career and played on some great teams.

Van Zant went to Mizzou, blew out his knee in a HS all-star game and never became the back he was supposed to be.

  • and then came MIAMI !!! LoL

  • That 1987 team was excellent.....So many great players..... Jamelle Holieway was the best option qb ever to play the game....OU didnt miss a beat when Charles Thompson took over for Holieway due to a knee injury... Keith Jackson at TE, Anthony Stafford, Patrick Collins at RB, Rotnei Anderson, Lydell Carr at FB.... Rickey Dixon best cover corner ever at OU...lets talk Oklahoma Football..... Anyone????

  • ricky dixon was a safety but still one of the best to play the position at OU, probably 2nd behind roy williams

  • Sorry meant cover db....doesnt he lead all time ints with 19????

  • i'd have to check a stat book but i thought i remember hearing something about daryl royal being one of our leaders in INTs. i also know derrick strait had a quite a few...

  • I think the ou nebraska game '87 was one of the best games i ever seen by ou. Great performance by Charles Thompson at such a young age. Was Jamelle Holieway's knee injury worth a seventh national title for the sooners?

  • Yes they did miss a beat!! When Jamelle Holieway got hurt..they kost the title. Charles Thompson was faster than Holieway, but nowhere as strong as Holieway. That is what OU was missing against the Canes in the 88 Orange Bowl. Holieway was also a better thrower and more experienced in the big game.

  • Nice video, '87 was a good season. After nearly 20 years, Miami's gonna get what's commin' to em' this year !

  • What's that? The shot at OU they deserved to get in 2000?

  • It would have been the same result as FSU.

  • I'm sorry, I just got back from Norman, now what were you saying...?

  • Good game, you guys dominated. The Sooners are a balanced team that I expect we'll see in the NC game this year. See you again in '09.

  • Yes it was. He was stronger, quicker and smarter than Charles Thompson and he was missed big time in the 88 Orange Bowl!!! That is why OU lost. Thompson was a 165 pound redshirt freshamn, Holieway was 185 and solid muscle! He had 3 years of experience playying and had a national title under his belt; also, Holieway had the experience of playing the Canes in 86. That experience would of served him well in a rematch!!
