Utah football came back in the 90's but even then they split the decade with BYU5-5. And this decade they split the decade with BYU 5-5. Most recently BYU has won 3 out of the last 4 games. You guys lose 8 of 11 starters on defense next year. Furthermore, in recent weeks you have lost 4 top recruits who decided to go to other schools. Hardly. In the 70's and 80's you guys won only 2 out of the 20 games. Utah football made it's comeback in the 90's but you still have yet to win more games in the last two decades than BYU has, both teams having split each 5-5. The overall win margin for Utah is due to them winning most of the games waaaaaay back in the days of leather helmets when most of the games were on their field.

BYU didn't have a choice who they would play in that game. Just like Utah didn't have a choice to play a mediocre Pittsburgh in the 2004 Fiesta Bowl. Since Pitt simply got there because they were they were the Big East Champ, should we throw Utah's Fiesta Bowl trophy out the window? Bottom line, BYU was voted the National Champs that year just like other teams were before and after. But I don't see you Utes complaining about that. That 04 Pitt team was better than that 84 Michigan team that finished the season 6-6 after byu beat them. Also, The difference is that Utah killed mediocre Pitt 35-7. BYU barely beat mediocre Michigan by 1 touchdown, 24-17. 84 Michigan was not ranked when their season was over.

We crushed alabama, who was ranked #1 for around half of the season, they were beating UF into the 4th quarter. Utah DOMINATED bama the WHOLE FREAKING GAME!
