**SPOILER ALERT** OK, FISRT OFF, the girl in the white dress is the little boys brother.the person she's dragging in the beginning is not a child, its the adult version of the boy. he beat her to death because he was actually the one was bullied and abused NOT satoko. and so she's been haunting him since by having him see his life threw satoko's eyes. watch the full thing. it'll make sense in the end.

what's creepy as hell is that this takes place during the day, albeit in a rainy downpour, about 3pm (the end of the school day as the kid is heading home) in an obviuosly urbanized, populated area, yet there is no one around, just this kid and the creepy ghoul girl. no one to call for help. no one to intervene. all alone in a claustrophobic apartment complex, a isolating theme running throughout much of japanese horror, even in the midst of stone and steel urbania, one can still be alone.

Hikiko? I think I heard it Okiko the story of the yurei who counts for her lost plates up to 9 then screams. The story of the ring was also based from this legnd whereign Okiku's Yurei comes out of the well where they put her corpse in.
