Green Day changed their sound with 21st Century Breakdown. But if you notice Green Day's "Dookie" is a old album compare it to Insomniac then listen to Nimrod then Warning. Then American Idiot then 21st Century Breakdown you could also listen to Greatest Hits and Shannanigans. And listen to the songs listen to the lyrics. Green Day slowly changed their sound over time but does it really matter? Billie is Billie. Mike is Mike. Tre is Tre. They still have meaningful lyrics.

As for me, if I want really harsh punk songs, I listen their old stuff, if I want something pop punk or alt rock, I prefer newer ones. They're not bad because they make some kind of music.

This might be my favorite album of all time. Great tracks, great lyrics, great tone, raw emotion. This album, unlike almost any I've other heard; including albums like Pearl Jam - Ten, really captures the angst and frustration of what it's like to be a teenager. And that was a decade ago for me.

Some people call themselfs fans because the know 10 songs... i fucking hate that. I love old and new green day. But when everyone started liking them when they released Dookie, i'm sure the original green day fans, 1039/Kerplunk, were upset as well. So even the teenagers in 1994 who knew 10 songs off Dookie, and nothing else, are telling American Idiot fans to leave. It's not fair.

@arnolduzzz i agree with u. Real fans should know old songs as well as new. They have to take interest in band's career since its beginning. Of course, GD could be blamed for making some popular songs like 21 guns but I believe if they don't change any, there would be boredom to listen to them. As for me, if I want really harsh punk songs, I listen their old stuff, if I want something pop punk or alt rock, I prefer newer ones. They're not bad because they make some kind of music.

This might be my favorite album of all time. Great tracks, great lyrics, great tone, raw emotion. This album, unlike almost any I've other heard; including albums like Pearl Jam - Ten, really captures the angst and frustration of what it's like to be a teenager. And that was a decade ago for me.
