  • @masonlebourn The internet seems to be the only place I can find people with the same outlook as me on this type of music, it's the BEST kind of music, where I live, everyone seems to be into all this mainstream bullshit, THIS is real music, Suteki Da Ne, Eyes on Me, You're not Alone and countless others trigger very strong emotions in me, I'm glad others feel the same way, these games are full of heart and soul.

  • @Drpissed Exactly, Nobuo Uematsu is an absolute genius, honestly, I only started playing Final Fantasy maybe 2 years ago, starting with VII, I love the games, my question to myself was "where the hell have you been all my life?" the music in them is the best I have ever heard from anything, very inspiring, touching stuff, I've stayed up countless hours just listening and listening and I've stayed in a certain spot in every FF game I've played just to listen to the music, long live Final Fantasy.

  • @LokizarroX Indeed. It's about the same for me with games in general, the the gaming industry is like an old gem mine. All the great ones have already been found, and every now and then a good one will pop up nowadays, but nothing like back when it was fresh. All the best ones were from back in the PS1 days.

    People care too much about graphics now. Sure graphics are important, but they're the least important to me. Storyline, music, character development. All are more important.

I call it having good taste, I'll ALWAYS love this music above any other, Nobuo Uematsu is my inspiration, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be playing guitar, and Final Fantasy IX is easily one of my favourite games of all time, no other game has made me cry at the end, long live classic Final Fantasy I - X

  • the best part about this song in the game is how synced it is with the play/battle itself, you can not skip any messages to unsync it etc. its a shame they didnt create more scenes like this (even though im sure there are a few, sadly too few)

  • In my opinion, FF9 had the best soundtrack out of any Final Fantasy I've played. So many great memories of a great game =)

  • @PessimisticMonday Did you know that FFIX OST is Nobou Uematsu's favorite of all the series? How great is it that the acclaimed composer of the entire series's wonderful scores believes IX to be his best work? Clearly in my opinion it shows. FFIX is my favority entry in the series in general.

  • My personal favorite is Final Fantasy 8. I will always love Final Fantasy 8, but thats just my opinion.

  • Final Fantasy 7 is the best Final Fantasy. <-period (thats just how it is)

    I wont lie and say it sucks, ff7 was fuckin awesome but so is ALL the Final Fantasys. But each Final Fantasy has its own mark on the game ,that makes it unique. What I liked about ff9 was the storyline and the game play, it was fun with having to lvl with your weapons and armor so you can learn special powers, instead of having to spend gil every dam 15 minutes to buy the newest gear.

  • @kakiller3 FF7 to me was the worst one to me. I hated it, the whole game you're chasing around Sephiroth (who's actually Jenova) and the characters bored the hell out of me. I won't say it sucks but as an FF game it was a let to me. It was my first FF and after that I played IX then VI. Plus the music wasn't as good as in IX, you can't beat melodies of life, or Dark messenger.

    Yeah, you had Wait on. Magic stops the ATB only if you have Wait set instead of Active.

  • @Nesaru so wait, im still confused. For example, in ff9 i can open the magic menu and not select anything. The atb timer will stop and the enemies will not attak me until i pick something. Im pretty sure this doesnt happen in ff7 (since ive played it countless times), But i cant remember if that would happen after changing to the WAIT system, Would that change it?

    Oh, it happens in FFVII. I'm playing it now and I have Wait set. Nothing happens until you've picked your magic, item, summon and the ATB bar doesn't move during magic and summon animations.

  • I believe that 'Feel My Blade' is not the title of the song, rather it is referring to the statement most men would say to their significant other after hearing a song so epic such as this. In which case, most will find their 'Blade' to be quite stiff.

    FFXII got rid of them too. Although for some reason, i never really cared that much, becuase the game played like it was turn-based anyway once you really got into it. The fact there were no random battles was just an illusion.

    that game was wonderful. Anyone who doesn't call it Final Fantasy is just being an overcritical fanboy. The amount of artistic work they put into that game was outstanding.

    Thinking FF7 is the best isn't being overly critical, it's a matter of opinion. I myself think 7 was the best of the entire series, in both story and gameplay. Mainly because the game had tons of minigames to expand on the cutscenes, and did a great job of immersing you into the shoes of the characters themselves. Also, it had the best villians out of any of them. And when i say that im not even talking about Sephiroth, im talking about Rufus Shinra, who was just as fucked up.

  • @RemiusTheAwesome I think FF9 was the best in my opinion in story the 4 discs kept a good story throughout the entire time and you got to feel as if you got to know the characters more and the gameplay was basically a mix of old gameplay and newer gameplay(to that time) i also thought the musical score was great and added more feeling to the scenes, and villain wise i thought kuja was way more of a villain than sephiroth, beacuse kuja destroyed a whole world and sephiroth destroyed a town

    Since when were villains measured on how much they destroyed? The story of FF9 ALLOWED Kuja to be able to destroy an entire world. Such a thing was not possible in FF7.

    Sephiroth got alot of attention in that game, but as i said before one of the biggest antagonist of FF7's storyline, just as bad as Sephiroth, was the Shinra Company. They were literally killing the planet. Jenova/Sephiroth and Meteor simply adverted their attention.

    Play Final Fantasy 7 again. Every character in the game you obtain, EVERYONE has had something taken from them or destroyed by the Shinra Company. Tifa, Cloud, Barret, Cid, Vincent, Red XIII, Yuffie...pretty much everyone but Cait Sith (being an employee of Shinra) had their lives ruined in one way or another by Shinra.

    Sephiroth WAS the creepiest and most mysterious of the Villains though, despite Kuja or Kefka eventually obtaining more power.

    Hate to say it, but though FF9 was generally awesome, FF7 had a great story, and FF6 had the best characters... I think I can't choose my favorite! What would have been good is if FF6's characters, FF7's story, and FF9's everything else had been combined. Not that I don't love Zidane and friends, but Kuja was... gay. And somewhat easy to defeat, compared to certain other bosses.

Also vivi is my favorite character in the series (if i had to choose 6 FF4 would be in that list

  • FF needs to go back to the styles of 789 and 10. 12 was OK. 13 was just crap, nothing but walking in straight lines and the charachter development and NPC's were non existant.

    Not really you could always diert and find little things here and there and that was part of the fun, the exploration, wondering if there was something if you fought your way across the map. That was all taken away FF10.

    I only like the last few hours of FF10 everything else in that game could've been better. At the time people didnt question it before the graphics were gorgeous and that the direction the series have taken since then.

  • @GetterRay in all the final fantasy's not including 11, you are guided in a fairly straight course, but it was less obvious and you also had the freedom to explore and find hidden characters/secrets/weapons on the side.

    leading a gamer in a straight line is not always a bad thing, it just has to be entertaining. i think the reason most people are bitter about ff13 and find a need to pick it apart is because it is so different than any other FF game in that it lacks TOWNS and the OVERWORLD.

  • @oheyguyo The thing I think is funny is, Crisis Core was pretty much a strait too yet people don't complain about that. By Chapter 11 of FF13, you have more freedom than you do in FF7 Crisis Core.

    FF 12 is only one disc long because they could fit everything on one disc. Storage capacity of PS2 > Storage capacity of PS1 (disc-wise).

    If you haven't noticed, the PS1 used Compact Discs which typically held up to 800MB, sometimes higher. The PS2 used DVDs which can hold up to 4+ GB. Taking that into consideration, FFXII would be at least 3 discs on a PS1. Blu Ray discs, which are used by the PS3, can hold 25+ GB. That'd be an insane amount of PS1 discs for FFXIII. O_o
