  • I commend You 2nd harpist :P I feel like my 4th finger is about to fall off when i play that part.

    Excellent!

  • I'm trying to listen for it in my recording of Symphonie Fantastique....but it's just not audible!!!

  • very difficult harp part........when you master it, you've become a HARPIST !!

  • omg

  • Fantastique :)

  • i love this symphonie played with a harp it's different.

secondly you feel the rithme and it's very important that.

Finally you play harp with relax and it's the most important thing in music but there much people that can't do the same.

    congratilations.

  • ......:O

  • omg i'm trying to learn this piece! its so hard! but i love the piece

  • Cool:)

  • Holy frig! thats amazing the harp is a brilliant instrument just love the sound of it

  • oh yeah...harp is awesome! i wish i had found time just to take a few lessons on it...oh well!

  • magic fingers

  • brilliant

  • good job! I had to learn this for an youth orchestra audition and it really is extremely difficult!

  • I was trying to determine if the players were students of the Salzedo method or of the Grandjany method. I studied the harp years ago, and there was intense rivalry between the two schools of harp playing, which was a shame because good harpists resulted from both schools.

  • It looks like they're resting their right arms on the soundboard, so I would say traditional French technique. They sound fantastic either way. The rivalry is kind of dying out, especially among harpists of my generation. I study Salzedo technique myself, and it has its benefits.

  • @flootloops : actually seeing the fingering the harpists are using it looks like Mrs Chalifoux markings. I played this with Salzedo markings and the 2nd harpists is using the markings I have from Mrs Chalifoux.

Not all Salzedo student play with Military elbows, Not even Salzedo.

  • @amiharp: I was referring to wrists on the soundboard and the hand position and shape. I don't play with 'military' elbows either. I wouldn't know based on the fingerings, but fingerings and overall technique aren't the same thing. Point is, they are playing a very difficult piece very well, regardless of what method they use. I was just responding to someone else's post based on what I observed.
