If their going to pass this crap at least switch over to the 2% tax the house bill wants to use rather than the mandated payment system the Senate in it's Idiocy decided to pass. How the hell do those dumb bastards expect single people over 18 working part time jobs going to school on grants to afford that shit, not to mention middle class families with lots of kids, or kids with preexisting conditions, idiots.
We need to take the profit motive out of healthcare, that is the only real solution so that we can become a civilized country that doesn't abandon its own sick citizens as if they were wounded animals in the woods.
Looks like the big guys are yanking Dean's chains. I can't believe the flip flopping going down on this whole affair. The payoffs must be big, corporations win, the people lose.
Tax exempt foundations for the elite? I can't believe how the almighty oligarchy has separated itself from the world, thinking they get to play while we get to pray for our food, our basic survival, just to get by each day. They don't extend their Easy Streets except to each other, they are an exclusive club that we must not emulate, idolize or worship. Instead, we should ignore and boycott them and leave their jobs and security.
I was talking about the elite who run most NPOs as a tax shelter. For example, AARP is headed by a filthy rich CEO who pushes insurance products and services. AARP and CEO Frank Novelli would lose billions of dollars if a public option were to pass. AARP gets royalties from all of the insurance companies that use its name on its labels.
They've turned the healthcare bill into a game of musical chairs whereby the public option is eliminated and the insurance czars win the cake. And now we're being asked to support a bill that is about as bad as soup contaminated with the Wash DC/Wall Street sewage that has already poisoned our economy. Health Care via Insurace Companies = DEATH CARE!

I think "non-profit hocus pocus" is my new favorite phrase.

Profitable non-profits defeat the whole purpose, huh?

I had this discussion with my husband the other night and I think people fail to understand what NPO really means.
