I'm proud to say I was the first dude in Canada to get a Yellow-colored 3.8 Genesis back in February of 2009, and I still love it. Yes, it was a bit pricey, a bit more than it should have been, but the overall feel is worth the extra dough.Having driven two 911s and a Boxster S, I can say without a doubt that the Genesis has nearly-identical handling and feel, which has been mirrored by a few other reviewers who noticed it as well. This comparison was muscle cars, which the Hyundai doesn't count as, so it wasn't really a fair comparison. If this was a sport car comparo, than cars like the the Audi S5 should have been included.
How is this comparison fair? the Genesis is a coupe and more expensive then the others plus the others are considered Pony cars less expensive. Pit the Genesis against RX-8, 340Z the imports not domestics.

I don't think you can get the gen. 3.8 for that price. I am not hating at all, just feel based on numbers and ownership the mustang is better car. If New v6 gen. Coupe comes out with 350 hp with better numbers than by all means hats off to it. But by saying a car is better because it feels better is total subjective. Numbers aren't.

@testy462 Im not saying a mustang is a bad purchase seeing as I bought one :) I'm just saying it's a pretty fair match up since the point of the comparison is about sports cars with similar engines and performance, not performance per dollar. Also the r-spec has the same performance as the track and is only 26k which is definitely comparable to the v6 mustangs 24k. And yes mustangs probably have the largest aftermarket selection out of any car but there is still plenty of mods for the genesis.
@testy462 The reason why it is so much more expensive is because it comes with SOOO much more. Think about it... The 3.8 track comes standard with navigation, 19 inch alloy wheels, brembo brakes, HID xenon headlights, Infinity 10 speaker audio system, leather seats, a rear spoiler, and more. It has so many extra features that the other cars dont have. Plus, the genesis coupe is the most unique (and in my opinion the nicest) care here.
I don't get how hyundia won! Mustang had better numbers than them all. I thought that was the point here. I always buy American especially if it is a better car. Just bought new 2012 mustang and couldn't be happier. I am getting 26 mpg over all and with 6 speed stick and performance pack this car is too much fun!

@grant6730 Yes there is a market for V6 pony cars and it is quite a big one, but Hyundai has something going with the Genesis and the Hyundai is the best one in this bunch. For all you kiddys who live in dream la la land. Motor Trend track tested a shit load of the leading hot cars from around the world. The Chevy Z06 was one of the fastest at 1:34.43 lap time,sells for only little more than 102k.The Boss stang was 7 sec slower at 1:41.06 price little more than 47k. They never tested a V6 performance pakg stang. It would'nt look good to see a car that sells for under 25k come within 10 secounds of cars that sell for 4 times the price.
All cars are pretty close in price, Perform pkg stang about 26. Camaro 26 Hyundai Gen 27 dodge 26. All are leaps and bounds above cars made less then three years ago. For everyday driving Dodge even coming in last, is the one people would have most comfort. The Gen is sporty, but lets be real, not something I'd feel confident pushing to hard on trans motor. The stang is best money you can put down,Camaro is cool, but lame with heavy 20" wheels,its a V6 lighter wheels would be better

I love my Genesis Coupe. So many people come up to me and ask, What is this car? Hyundai, I tell them and they all say, oh wow, Hyundai is making nice looking cars now. I've driven my cousins Honda Coupe and there is no comparison. Performance, Style, Handling, Rear wheel drive, Navigation, Premium Audio. Hyundai is on the right track.
I test drove both the Mustang as well as the Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track. I had a difficult time deciding but ultimately bought the Genesis. It just felt sharper, more nimble to me and I liked the styling more. Having said that, I certainly could not have gone wrong if I chose the mustang !
@Deviklovecraft i have a friend that bought a 2010 genesis raced with it a few times and the engine blew in less than a year and because he paid his car cash and owed nothing hyundai said it was his fault the engine blew up and he had to pay to put a new one in (20 000$) and sell it good luck with your car ifyou are into racing
@Luis6K exactly, they made their decisions based on subjective stuff like "feel" but ignored the fact that for the price of a v6 coupe you are almost at GT price. 370z's are cool, but the American ponies here are just the cheap, base models of there v8 counters. These v6's can almost keep up with the 370z, but the V8 counterparts will absolutely annihilate the 370z

I used to own an import (06 350z) and i had id modded up like crazy. Only cosmetic mods were lightweight wheels, larer brakes (yes i know theyre performance as well) larger exhaust (performance too) and thats it. It was kinda loud so people always talked shot bout my "ricer". They shut up real quick when i left em behind on the highway or on the road course. All mods had a purpose, therefore non ricer
Rice means that theres alot of unecessary cosmetic mods that dont do a damn thing but are all over the car. The Genesis coupe is anything but rice. Very fun to drive cars, amazing handling and an overall great machine. However, with the v6 mustang outperforming it and costing several thousand less, they are the better value and IMO the better car

@testy462 Im not saying a mustang is a bad purchase seeing as I bought one :) I'm just saying it's a pretty fair match up since the point of the comparison is about sports cars with similar engines and performance, not performance per dollar. Also the r-spec has the same performance as the track and is only 26k which is definitely comparable to the v6 mustangs 24k. And yes mustangs probably have the largest aftermarket selection out of any car but there is still plenty of mods for the genesis.

@testy462 The reason why it is so much more expensive is because it comes with SOOO much more. Think about it... The 3.8 track comes standard with navigation, 19 inch alloy wheels, brembo brakes, HID xenon headlights, Infinity 10 speaker audio system, leather seats, a rear spoiler, and more. It has so many extra features that the other cars dont have. Plus, the genesis coupe is the most unique (and in my opinion the nicest) care here.

I don't get how hyundia won! Mustang had better numbers than them all. I thought that was the point here. I always buy American especially if it is a better car. Just bought new 2012 mustang and couldn't be happier. I am getting 26 mpg over all and with 6 speed stick and performance pack this car is too much fun!

For all you kiddys who live in dream la la land. Motor Trend track tested a shit load of the leading hot cars from around the world. The Chevy Z06 was one of the fastest at 1:34.43 lap time,sells for only little more than 102k.The Boss stang was 7 sec slower at 1:41.06 price little more than 47k. They never tested a V6 performance pakg stang. It would'nt look good to see a car that sells for under 25k come within 10 secounds of cars that sell for 4 times the price.

All cars are pretty close in price, Perform pkg stang about 26. Camaro 26 Hyundai Gen 27 dodge 26. All are leaps and bounds above cars made less then three years ago. For everyday driving Dodge even coming in last, is the one people would have most comfort. The Gen is sporty, but lets be real, not something I'd feel confident pushing to hard on trans motor. I'm only stating that I think a GT, as the superior driver's car, is better value. A 14 horsepower bump in an engine built for a sedan that weighs 500 lbs more? 14 extra horsepower means absolutely nothing for that car. They should have put that engine in the Genesis Coupe for any of your reasoning to be... well reasonable.

The GT is a classic muscle car that is in a completely different ball park than any sedan. I love my Genesis Coupe. So many people come up to me and ask, What is this car? Hyundai, I tell them and they all say, oh wow, Hyundai is making nice looking cars now. I've driven my cousins Honda Coupe and there is no comparison. Performance, Style, Handling, Rear wheel drive, Navigation, Premium Audio. Hyundai is on the right track.

I test drove both the Mustang as well as the Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track. I had a difficult time deciding but ultimately bought the Genesis. It just felt sharper, more nimble to me and I liked the styling more. Having said that, I certainly could not have gone wrong if I chose the mustang !

I used to own an import (06 350z) and i had id modded up like crazy. Only cosmetic mods were lightweight wheels, larer brakes (yes i know theyre performance as well) larger exhaust (performance too) and thats it. It was kinda loud so people always talked shot bout my "ricer". They shut up real quick when i left em behind on the highway or on the road course. All mods had a purpose, therefore non ricer

Rice means that theres alot of unecessary cosmetic mods that dont do a damn thing but are all over the car. The Genesis coupe is anything but rice. Very fun to drive cars, amazing handling and an overall great machine. @7l2yan I'd say that the true "Ricer" of the group is most defiantly the Challenger SE. Don't get me wrong, I love Dodge Challengers R/T-SRT8s. But the V6 Challenger SE got ricer written all over it. Looks fast as hell and something you wouldn't want to test at the stop light, but then it turns out to be slow as all sin and turns you and your ride into a laughing stalk. So the only ricer I see in this group here is the Challenger.

Genesis Track = $30.7k MSRP
Mustang = $26.3k MSRP (Assuming that they tested the V6 Premium Coup).
Very similar horsepower but yet the Mustang handles better, it accelerates quicker, brakes shorter, gets better fuel economy, AND IT COSTS LESS.

Wow agreed this guy definitely has a genesis back home I have to say the mustang had a huge increase from last year but the bottom line is all mustang fans and all camaro haters don't u compare the new camaro to this mustang just face it camaro won in 2010 stop bitching and move on to 2011 I haven't seen one video of a comparison between the 2011 camaro and the 2011 mustang.
