After all the years have gone by, this is the first time I saw this. I was doing photos of the event and didn't know someone what doing the video of it. As I was looking I saw my self in the video. I sang at the first 2 Memorials for John. I do miss him and the music he has given to us all.
I have a geocache there in PG and have had a lot of people that didn't know this was the spot. I am hoping to hear sometime when the plaque will be put there.
I just returned from California last week and from Monterey/Pacific Grove, where John lost his life so early. His spirit is there and it is a peaceful yet sad place. Thanks for posting this!
I was in Pacific Grove in March 2008 & could NOT find John's plaque. I went again for vacation Aug 2008 & I located the rock where the plaque was attached but NO PLAQUE. I reported it as stolen to the P.G. police department but they called me back later & said the plaque has been removed for "cleaning" & would be replaced. Is this true??? Given the resistence by residents of P.G. to John's plaque I do not trust anything they say. Will someone please tell me what REALLY happened here???

It will get done and put back where it should be. We need to be patient a bit longer but trust me, it is really a work of art, very beautiful-- Sue D. is the same person who did the "Spirit" statue of John that is in Snowmass at Windstar.

@chavah5760 The plaque is there now - it was NOT beling cleaned - you do not need to take the plaque away - just to clean it!!! There were a few mistakes on the plaque!!! Just small things like they called his airplane a "LONG EASY" - and it actually was a LONG EZ!!! The errors were fixed and the plaque was replaced.
This is so great to see! I went to this beach in July 2001 with my penpal from Denmark that I met in 1986 through a JD fan club. We met up with Judy Therrin there and visited the beach together. It's nice to see that they have placed a placque there in his honor. Thanks for posting the video for those of us to see.
I was very saddened to learn that Cynthia Poe, who along with the California Friends of John Denver planned and coordinated this dedication, passed away on January, 8, 2008. I met her at the dedication and she was an absolutely charming lady. I know that some of the dedication expenses have not been paid yet and perhaps the good people here can send a donation to help defray the costs. I will check with her husband and see if this is alright with him.

No, the woman in blue top and black pants is Terri Deutschendorf, Ron's wife. The Pastor from Erma's church who spoke at John's memorial in Aurora, CO was also in attendance, as was Robert Fuller from the Hunger Project.
I don't think AD has been to any CA events. She started the Wheeler Concert benefits in Aspen with his band brothers for charity but read in recent years it is hard for her to go to those because she is not left alone by some of the fans who attend and I still think too tough for her to sit through listening to a concert of his songs.

The plaque itself is a bit of an embarrassment if you ask me though. John's name should include a "Jr.", the lyrics are a bit off and the plane is not called a "Long Easy". It is a Long-EZ. This part realy grates on me. Who was in charge of details? This part sucks. The image of John looks more like one of the Snap, Crackle and Pop characters more than John. So sad. But thanks anyway!!! Sorry, I didn't know this had actually posted, it took a LONG time for me to download. Yes, that is Ron Deutschendorf, John's brother. This event took place on Sun. Sept. 23, 2007. The plaque has some incorrect information on it which I hope they will fix before they mount it to one of the stones.
Ron is John's brother and this took place last Sunday, September 23rd. The plaque he is referring to is absolutely beautiful and it will be mounted on a rock overlooking the ocean where John's airplane crashed.
Ron is John's younger brother by 5 years. He was born in Japan while his father was serving in the military there. He is suffering from significant back problems but still keeps chugging along. He is also the President of Windstar but that may change if his health fails more so. Who will be next?

Apparently the Boonah Shire Council replaced the plaque,almost immediately after it was stolen.
Google 'COUNCIL TO REPLACE STEVE IRWIN MEMORIAL PLAQUE 31/05/2007' on the Boonah Shire Council web site.
