@Christianprepper1 I initially got my info from FEMA as well, but there wasn't definitive answers about using pool shock and what you could expect from it's use. So I decided to do my own research and testing and share it with the community of preppers. If you'll visit my channel you'll see that I have been covering this topic of "Pool Shock" for a little over a year and the experiment over that time has yielded good solid usable information and answered many questions that we preppers had.
Great information. I have been wondering about pool shock. Most videos just say buy it...lol. I like the intro and the music in the background. Nice change...
@OutWestt1 Just buy it... I know what you mean, that's what spurred this whole video series. Glad I could be of help. Thanks for checking out the vid.
Okie, just got my 165 gallon tank from the Shawnee Norwesco plant. Saved a ton on shipping by going and picking it up. Gonna fill and treat this weekend with stock Chlorine. Thanks for all the vids on how to treat my water.
@okieprepper Hey I'm having trouble finding the calcium hypochlorite in a granular form. I've found it in a powder just about everywhere, but not sure if this will work or not.
@dspurlock23 It's probably just a terminology issue. I'm sure the powder you are finding will do just fine. Technically a powder should have a simular consistency to baby powder where as granular would have a consistency liken to pure cane sugar. Anyway regardless of what the package classifies, powder or granular it should work the same.
Point of fact, I use the terms "disinfect" or "decontaminate" when referring chlorinating drinking water, as "purification" can refer to the removal of chemicals and solids. Regardless, your water storage videos are very informative, and having spent 10 years in home water purification, I feel myself qualified to say. In a SHTF situation, we're drinking chlorinated stored water and treating gathered water with pool shock here on Indian Country Farms. This is BASIC preparation. Thanks again Scout
Thanks for the info, I have been keeping videos like this on my mac and ipad to keep for future ref. I appreciate you sharing this it is a good update. I was wondering about the water stored in my basement. It was city water from our hose in the yard and I figured I will just run it through the Berkey. However the rain barrel water off the roof, I thing I will use the pool shock for storing that. I try to go easy on the Berkey filters at $150 for 4 of em. lol
I store LOTS of pool shock. It's also the cheapest way to make stock chlorine for laundry purposes as well. Not need to pay $1 a gallon for liquid bleach. Thanks for the good video.
Great info ... Thanks!

I got my information from the EPA website about purifying water. I know it's the government but fema and the epa have some real good info.

@dspurlock23 Awesome, that's exactly what I did, paid the "Will Call Fee" and out the door with the tank.
