My father used 2 do stuff like this as a promotional piece. It was called Keep Banging n theyd do this as a performance and it was kinda like a circus act. I vaguely remember this kinda stuff in my early childhood. But it was quite impressive

It sounds like this because the sound is distorted. Too high volume for the mic, makes it sound like this.

So just try to record a bit louder, and you will get this natural distortion :)

or alternatively, use a distortion pedal / rack.
