Madness and The Specials may have sold more records but The Beat were always my favourite of all the "ska revival" acts. Wha'ppen is an impossibly underrated album.
Bought this eagrely as soon as it was released ; a 'double A' side coupled with 'Drowning' on the flip.I was disappointed by its relatively low chart success ; it might not even have cracked the top 20, but i remember it coming in at 22 ; may have gone to 18 or something.Their new second album 'WHA'PPEN ?' , released shortly after was great and contained both this and a slightly extended version of Drowning than what was on the single release
