Perhaps this story line would have worked better if they weren't fighting over the role of Maria. I LOVE Mercedes but there is just no way she can challenge Rachel for the role as it doesn't fit her voice. There are 3456789 musicals and yet they picked the one where the storyline doesn't make any sesne.

Oh my goodness! Mercedes sang with real heart in this song,and so beautifully. I also think Rachel is good,in some songs like Pretending,Get it Right,Loser like me ect. No one is better because they both are amazing,beautiful,and talented. Thats all that matters.

They have very different voices; I'm not sure I can see Mercedes as Maria, but Rachel would be the generic choice. There are some songs that one of them can sing that the other would just not be able to do.

However this diva off goes to Mercedes, she has a richness in her tone that went well with the song out here on my own, while Rachael has more of a pure voice good for musicals and such.

Honestly, both are very talented but Rachel works harder and to me that means she deserves it more than someone who admits she doesn't practice. Also, Mercedes makes NO sense in the role of Maria. She could be Anita (though Santana would do that better too) but as Maria, she doen't have that in her.
Mercedes is an intensely soulful and excellent singer, but like Kurt, I'm not sure she's right for the part. Not because of any discriminating factor, she's just not hard working enough nor does she really seem like Maria to me in a way Rachel does. Just a thought.

I feel sad for Rachel, for what I saw on the promos, everyone is trying to make her give up the role... It's unfair, the best will win, and to me: Mercedes has a more powerful voice but acting is not her passion, she wants to be a star and stuff, but she is being really selfish...

Well, I agree that we hear Rachel A LOT but we also know how hard Rachel works for it, I mean come on guys.
Also, out of context, this video looks like Will and Rachel are together and Mercedes is jealous of their relationship. (At least the beginning of it xd)

As much as Mercedes smashed this, it's still all about Rachel! But i bet the show will do what it always does and make Rachel look the bad person and Mercedes to be the unappreciated talent when really Rachel is the one who deserves the role for firstly, looking the part, secondly, sounding the part and thirdly, busting her ass to get everything she gets, unlike mercedes who has already admitted before to not feeling the need to rehearse. Team Rachel all the way! :)

Though it is true that Mercedes is an AMAZING singer, this is Rachel's future on the line here (Mercedes will RULE that school next year). Rachel needs this role to help her get into school!! And she is totally TALENTED en0ough. but of course this is just my opionon and of course life isn't fair :P

Honestly, both are very talented but Rachel works harder and to me that means she deserves it more than someone who admits she doesn't practice. Also, Mercedes makes NO sense in the role of Maria. She could be Anita (though Santana would do that better too) but as Maria, she doen't have that in her.

Mercedes is an intensely soulful and excellent singer, but like Kurt, I'm not sure she's right for the part. Not because of any discriminating factor, she's just not hard working enough nor does she really seem like Maria to me in a way Rachel does. Just a thought.
