grunge never died...we all stay away from the mainstream industry...kurdt cobain was whacked, after trying to leave the scene...and for you skeptics...fuck off!!!...the dead can't wipe fingerprints off guns!
I think "grunge" lyrics are not just of a specific kind, but I love the cynical-pessimist point of view that, say, Kurt Cobain had and Mark Arm still has to this day. I think it is great what happened to grunge, it was replaced on the mainstream by shitty post-grunge bands. Grunge belongs to the underground scene. Take Mudhoney, pure grunge, and they never made it big like PJ. Nevermind was just a small episode of Nirvana's life. Nirvana should not have been mainstream, too honest for that.
I agree. I am working on some stuff that would take early Tool, Nirvana, Alice in Chains and some influence from Black Sabbath, Disturbed mixed with some punk bass riffs to put together a metal/grunge rock sound. If this meshes with anyone else's ideas hit me up and we can try to work something out. I play guitar and drums BTW and I'm really looking forward to jamming with some people to make this happen. Thank you for posting this video! Grunge forever.
It's already 2011 and the Music industry are getting worse. Old Glam bands are supporting the whole Screamo, Post-hardcore, and Emo Scene shit now. And everyone is getting more scene and more brainwashed. Sure their are more underground Thrash and Death Metal bands now at the same time. But their are still no Garage, Punk, or Grunge bands being created as well!
The Music Industry dont want Alternative music in the business ever again. Ever since the Grunge scene. And it's SAD
Don't worry, I'm trying. Actually grunge never died, it's just back to being in the underground like it was for a decade before Nevermind came out, except this time it's spread out all over the world instead of just in Seattle. If it comes back, it should be the same as it was before, no 2000s changes to make it stupid and not grunge. None of the new bands would sound exactly like the old ones anyway because they were all so diverse in the first place, so don't call them copycats unless they are
That's one of my new phrases. But go to unsigned(dot)com and there are some grunge bands. There are some bands on YouTube, too, like Last Dime and Exovox. So I think my phrase is correct. Perhaps it's best that it's underground, though.
I would definitely want to see Grunge make a comeback. I just hope that when it does, the bands do it right, even make a few new things to the sound.
But I am getting tired of hearing the mainstream modern music (one of the reasons I don't listen to radio anymore and stick with my ipod). If Grunge does make a comeback, I definitely think it would be a cool moment in music for people who enjoyed the music. I know I did and still want to see it comeback one day.
Im trying to fight the mainstream pop with my music :D iv only just started songwritting and i aint got a band but my songs are up on my profile. FIGHT THE MAINSTREAM POP
look up Violent Soho, i think there pretty much opening the way for grunge bands in the industry right now, just realeased there first album this year and are signed with a record label owned by sonic youths Thurston Moore, look for there song Mucle Junkie, its there best one, i you realy want to start a grunge band i would do it NOW! or in the next 2 years, i know i intend to, i was thinking of combining grunge with shoegazing, thought it might sound cool.
Grunge will come back sometime maybe in 5 or 10 years. But it will just be like Post Grunge and Puddle of mudd again.Grunge was great in the 90's becuase it was dark and gritty and there was a movement for Alternative music back then. And our record lable's think were all too smart and tough for that music now.But I would rather see more band's like The Stone Roses,Oasis and The Verve or Spiritulized come back. And I agree there need's too be more rock music in the charts and people buying it.
me and my band r trying it out we r pretty much ratm nirvana and alice in chains mixed we use fast addictive bass and guitar riffs snarly vocals political and drug related lyrics and dual vocals but we r only 16 but some time soon we r making a demo and sending it 2 some labels we will c what will happen haha

@ihateschool778 Thrash is back. It is mostly in the underground. You have to look for local Thrash bands on Myspace and Facebook. My friend has a band called Insinnerator on Myspace. You should check them out. They play good raw thrash!
in one way id love for it to make a come back, but at the same time i think that fact that it came and went so quickly kinda makes it what it is, like you said rather than seeing another puddle of mudd... the only band i know that have a grunge tint (that dont mean they are exatcly grunge) but u can def see they got all their inspiration from grunge is dinosaur pile up check em ooot

music usually goes in a good direction and then a bad one...right now its bad but it will be good one day again and justin bieber, miley cyrus, the jonas brothers, lady gaga, and all the rappers will die in a plane crash and the world will be good once more.
@nirvanaftw92 There are some good bands in the mainstream right now. Not many though. I am sure things will change once people learn how to listen to intelligent bands. Bands these days barely have a message in their music. Most rock radio bands whine and moan about break ups slitting their wrists and etc. I like your theory on how these shit artists die.
I agree completely, I'm 14 but I really , truly agree.. that music today pretty much blows ass. I really hate all of this miley cyrus/hannah montana jonas brothers crap that every teenager is expected to listen to ... There will never be another Kurt Cobain, or Layne Staley, but there really needs to be another great band that could just come and save the world of music from going to the hell hole that is spiralling into curently. long live grunge, long live Kurt and Layne.
Hey, you want to check out some good new grunge, you'll want to check out "Navicula". This is an amazing grunge band, and believe it or not their from Indonesia. Also check out "Cupumanik". In fact there is quite a bit of good muisc here, in Indo, I think it could be the home of thext big music movement. Check out my channel for "Navicula", "Cupumanik", and many more great bands from Indonesia, (no, I'm not kidding). Oh and "Navicula", is planning a US tour for next year.
i absolutly agree im greatly influenced by alice in chains and nirvana and i think garage bands need a comeback instead of shitty pop kids like all the lil disney and nick kids we need hardcore distorded guitars with angry kids who wanna express themselves and one of those kids is me
this is for everyone thats making a grunge related band your songs dont have to be complicated to play all the song needs is a good rhythm,a good beat ,and let the song get stuck in people heads all day.and thats how songs are good
Fuck bringing back Grunge. It is my favorite genre but that would not be original at all. Make a new type of music. You can even base it on similar ideals and styles but dont make it Grunge. I do agree we need some good music now!
Theres a shitload of grunge bands here in aurora, colorado. we are all trying to make it live again, besides, the 90s and the 80s are returning dont you think???
3. Temple of the Dog: Chris Cornell joins Pearl Jam on stage for this recent rendition of Grunge classic Hunger Strike. I reckon a Soundgarden reunion might only be a few months away. Let's face it, his solo career isn't going anywhere...
4. Nirvana's Bleach is being reissued: On November 2, the 20th anniversary edition of Bleach is being reissued, with a remastered edition complete with a bonus live album and a 48-page booklet. I want vinyl.
2. Pearl Jam are touring: For the first time in, like, nine years, Pearl Jam are coming to New Zealand, playing Mt Smart Stadium on November 27. My first ever concert was Pearl Jam's show at the Mt Smart Supertop in 1996, when Tim Finn came on stage to sing Split Enz songs. So I can't wait.
Dont be much sure that grunge will come back this decade but the 20's oh it might come!
Well for this decade i know this:
1. The new Alice in Chains and Dinosaur Jr albums rule: Call me a bogan if you like, but over the past few months the albums I've played the most are Alice in Chains' Black Gives Way to Blue and Dinosaur Jr's Farm. Also Dirty Projectors, but they're not really grunge so I can't find a link there.
I completely agree. I'm growing up in the wrong time period man. I wish I was my age (16) in like 1992 when the grunge scene was still alive. Music was so much more real back then. I can't stand this autotuned shit that they call music now.
I play guitar, and those grunge bands are some of my biggest influnces. If I ever get a band together that wants to try to bring back grunge I will try my best.
It seems like a few new grunge band appeared, thanks for posting this man you rock, thanks a lot and lots of respect for you and grunge music i love aproximately all 90's grunge...rock on
The Jonas Brothers lol. People don't listen to them for their music, tween girls listen to them because of who they are not the music they make. They are the physical embodiment of everything that Kurt Cobain despised about media corporations.
lol, yeah Jonas Brothers blow. Guess I was frustrated. I made a myspace and put some vids on youtube and not much happened. I wouldn't comprimise my integrity and pander to Jonas Brothers type fans. Would rather be broke and fanless.
@tvdude11 My music is a grunge rock type and I feel the same way. I have many songs to be uploaded, but unless you have a million dollar budget for a cool vid, no one seem to even give you a single watch/listen.
There will never be another grunge movement as important and awesome as the early 90s.. I miss Nirvana and Soundgarden sooo much. Atleast Backspacer is awesome, and Alice in Chains is back and awesome!
I am just stating grunge needs to be in the limelight again. I know there will ever be another movement like the 90's one. Nirvana,Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone all have their place in grunge.
There are grunge bands in the underground. I am willing to be there are. Underground is where all the good rock, rap, metal, and other genres of music. Today society buys shit music, so that is what sells.
The reason music sucks now is cause people buy shit music. If it is making record companies money, then they don't give a rats. Most of the good music around today is underground.
Because grunge has a certain feel that comes from the 90's, this whole feel was mainly good in the 90's. Like peral jam. Their albums during the 90's to me were great, but then the 2000's came along, and it lost that feel. But this is just my opinion, I would give the band a listen if there was a new grunge band.
You have a good point there. Well I think that Pearl Jam's 90's albums were their best. Maybe their next album will sound close to their roots. If they blend their old sound with some new things they have learned as far as the music goes then the record will be successful. That is my opinon.
grunge never died...we all stay away from the mainstream industry...kurdt cobain was whacked, after trying to leave the scene...and for you skeptics...fuck off!!!...the dead can't wipe fingerprints off guns!

The Jonas Brothers lol. People don't listen to them for their music, tween girls listen to them because of who they are not the music they make. They are the physical embodiment of everything that Kurt Cobain despised about media corporations.
Zehydra106 2 years ago
Do not emulate that shit band. They suck. Only idiots buy their albums and see them live.

lol, yeah Jonas Brothers blow. Guess I was frustrated. I made a myspace and put some vids on youtube and not much happened. I wouldn't comprimise my integrity and pander to Jonas Brothers type fans. Would rather be broke and fanless.

@PearlJammer07 Were did you hear that Layne tought the singer of puddle of shit to sing.?
notavailableisnotava 7 months ago

I'd be happy with a SOundgarden reunion tour.. lol

There are grunge bands in the underground. I am willing to be there are. Underground is where all the good rock, rap, metal, and other genres of music. Today society buys shit music, so that is what sells.
PearlJammer07 2 years ago
YE! I mean.. Music today Sucks anyway!
Why not let youth get inspiration from the Grunge environment. You had like 4-5 extremely good talents in Seattle D7.
Ulrna 2 years ago
The reason music sucks now is cause people buy shit music. If it is making record companies money, then they don't give a rats. Most of the good music around today is underground.

Because grunge has a certain feel that comes from the 90's, this whole feel was mainly good in the 90's. Like peral jam. Their albums during the 90's to me were great, but then the 2000's came along, and it lost that feel. But this is just my opinion, I would give the band a listen if there was a new grunge band.
thehorrar1994 2 years ago
You have a good point there. Well I think that Pearl Jam's 90's albums were their best. Maybe their next album will sound close to their roots. If they blend their old sound with some new things they have learned as far as the music goes then the record will be successful. That is my opinon.

what about foo fighters
arrowinmeeye 2 years ago
I wouldn't call them grunge. And they are still together.
PearlJammer07 2 years ago
oh yeh i see what you mean and i total agree with you grunge is the best better than that jo bro shit anyway we need to get rid of that stuff
arrowinmeeye 2 years ago
Grunge is something that was great in the 90's... a modern grunge band will just ruin that whole feel.
thehorrar1994 2 years ago
That is your opinion. I think that grunge needs to be revived. How would they ruin the classic grunge feel lol?
PearlJammer07 2 years ago
Mother Love Bone wasn't really a depressive grunge band either, they were pretty happy=]
