to that idiot that said that BB is a "fat dude" GFY stupid asshole. Go and see britney and respect a man that has been playing blues for more than 70 years... and ask ourself if you would be able to even hold lucille.... not to mention the best performance I´ve seen in years..... at your 84 years.... And I´m 28.
If you really want to experience this.... turn tje volume to 11.... then and only then you will know why BB is the one and only king.... and I´m a HUGE clapton-beck-buddy-SRV-bonammasa- fan.... and I love the music of muddy, howlin wolf and the bluesmans of the generation of BB.... but, this is amazing. No one comes close even.
god damn it.... it really leave me shaking.... lon live the king of the blues.... After have seen this I am very sure no one, not a single person comes close to BB. Still and forever the king.
Even when it´s basicallly a gibson es 335, and without a doubt the es series are the best hollowbody guitars in the world.... in this case I think 20% accounts for Lucile.... the rest is BB´s technique and vibrato.
AWESOME! I love BB King. But is it me or did he "maybe" try something a bit different between 2:58 - 3:07, that didn't really sound what he wanted. Kinda like running a scale, not his style... Almost Clapton'ish, but it didnlt work. I love the sustained notes too, mabe he's been hanging wiht Buddy Guy a bit too...... Just an opinion & a thought, I love the guy & all the other blues players..... & I am big time Clapton fan, & Clapton is big time BB fan. LOL God Bless You All..
@cmann47647 Hey there, I see what you mean but don't agree with your take on it. I see a man in his eighties still trying new things and taking his music to new places. I find that inspiring as I am just a kid of fifty myself with much left to learn.
@cmann47647 He often 'runs scale' in 'The Thrill Is Gone'. If you listen to enough of his performances of the song you will recognise the clichés. Typically, he'll play that B on the nineteenth fret (e string; Louis Jordan derived) then come back down to the D on the 10th before pulling off (not always, but to affect a similar sound) on the B at seven. That sequence almost invariably precedes the usual run of scale which you refer to.
pff lol i know this mother fucker sold his soul to the devil for blues a long ass time ago. Lol virbatoing like that? Lol you have had to sell your soul.
Everyone has a guitarist that influences them in their style.. Some say Stevie Ray, some say satriani..could be anyone, but no matter what you say, BB king will always be your influence whether you like it or not <3
Don't get me wrong BB is the man! One of my all time favorites. But I must say... his very first note... might have been a half pitch higher than what he wanted! LOL...
not a big deal guys don't freak out, everyone has done it. just because he's rich and famous and makes front covers doesn't mean you have to idolize him to the point where you delude yourselves thinking "FACT: BB never hits a wrong note!"
@NapalmFerret BB King's trademark is attacking the octave-root, but here he attacks the octave-b9 which is the ugliest possible note that can be played apart from a tritone.
listen to it like 5 times and you'll notice its not the correct note. I'm a big fan (in fact I'm seeing him this fall) so I'm not bangin, but I just find it really funny
@amnesia271 You're right. there's no such thing as a wrong note, but there's definitely such a thing as a wrong resolution.
at 1:30 BB 'King' hits a b9 and clearly doesn't mean to (he meant to hit the octave). unfortunatley BB King doesn't have the musical knowledge to resolve his unintentional note
@blah148 A wise man once said: Better to keep your mouth shut and seem like a fool, than to open it and leave no doubt. You (and I, a lot) haven't learned that lesson. In my opinion, (not worth much) you just sounded REALLY foolish insulting THE KING of blues. B.B. is the 'Chuck Norris' of Blues; if he hits a note, it BECOMES the right note, cause he said so. (Please don't take this comment too seriously, just laugh, as this is the intended response.)
@blah148 "BB King doesn't have the musical knowledge to resolve his unintentional note"
Every artist(No matter how good) will fluff up every now and then)
He has plenty knowledge of music.
Also...keep in mind...that when BB plays...he plays true, old school, blues...He improvises EVERY TIME...Even if its the same song as before, he changes the solo to fit how he feels.
Now...Go practice sir. Youre knowledge of music does not impress me. :)
this is a incrediable man.. just from the look of him when he plays music. he doenst play for money. he loves the sound that he produces and loves music himself. when ur that old u dont play for money he plays to share his passion with music and show that everyone needs a love in there life. his is blues... truely unbelievable the way he is moved by that guitar
I met bb king in february when he played in detroit and he's a very wise, smart, man. Behind all of the talent that he has in his body is an amazing personality.
