  • It's time to listen? Okay I'll listen to myself, because my voice has more reason than yours, Autism Speaks.

    Quote, the Autie "Nevermore."

  • Adam is a good film, but I do wish it wouldn't get associated with this hate group.

  • first of all.. why do you think these guys are bullies? and second.. maybe the interviewer is autistic?? be nice

  • That person isn't talking about this particular video, but about the organization the interviewer works for. Autism Speaks talks about autism in a very negative way that focuses on how other people are inconvenienced by autism. They give too much money to research (including genetic engineering) and not enough to support & education to ASD people and their families. They don't give ASD people positions in their organizations and they focus on what certain parents want, not what ASD people want.

  • autism speaks wants to wipe autistic people off the face of the earth.

Copy and paste if you agree and autism speaks is a big bully to autistic people!

  • Some people want to wipe cancer off the face of the earth no one would argue with that. They are both illnesses hat deserve to be healed.

  • wow hugh is being very intellectual in this interview but that interviewer guy is so thick, he covers up his boredom and short attention span by frequently saying sure and yeah to pretend hes listenting

  • Wouldn't you agree that each individual experiences Asperger's differently? Not everyone exhibits the same symptoms to the same intensity! This movie is about an individual named Adam who happens to have Asperger's. Please judge the movie with what it claims to stand for in mind.

    Thank you. :)

  • Asperger's has become the latest cultural fetish. When a disorder reaches that kind of status, it gets misrepresented. That is my problem with Adam. I am surprised at AS.

  • what exactly do you mean by dealing with autism?

  • I haven't seen the movie but I think Adam is portrayed as having a lot of trouble having a relationship, looking after himself, getting a job, and managing his emotions--hardly fuzzy stuff. How would you prefer Asperger's be portrayed?

  • I would prefer the truth be told. Asperger's is a serious neurological disprder. It is desirable and it is not a different way to be. It is an disorder that requires help.

  • Yeah, and I think that's how the movie portrays it--a disorder that requires help. So it's accurate.

Most people who have a disability (and this goes for any disability, from Asperger's to being severely physically disabled) are used to having a disability. They don't spend all their time being sad about being disabled. So I don't think it's bad if the movie has an upbeat tone, because it's realistic. Can you explain what you would want the movie to be like for it to be "truthful?"

  • Asperger's is not a horrible disease. It has many good sides, and many people in history where believed to have had it. Do some research.

  • I have done all the research I need to do. I cannot imagine that an organization like AS would claim to diaganose dead people. Everyone who ever invented something did not have Asperger's. If you don't have a disability you don't need a diagnosis.

  • I have Asperger's so I don't think you get to tell me how I should feel about it. In fact I don't think Asperger's, or any disability, is "horrible," but I'm just trying to engage with this person about why they don't like the movie Adam.

  • No, it's not.

  • FynFlyte - it's not a "serious neurological disorder that requires help" at all. Though everyone is affected differently be each different trait, I have Asperger's as do many of my friends and it's not that bad at all, IMO the good outweighs the bad. I'd hate to be normal because I like being the autistic person I am.

  • I am happy that you like yourself, I would not have it any other way. But am intrigued by the context of your use of the word 'normal.'

  • By normal, I'm talking about neurological (someone without Asperger's or autism).

  • not to sound rude, but that are the good things about having aspergers? I don't mean that in an offensive way, I'm just wondering how it changes your perspective.

  • @AutismSpeaksV1ds You speak in the same manner I do, the logical and the analytical thought views, far outweigh the "social" problems. we don't have a disorder, we have a condition that leaves us more true to ourselves, than the majority of humanity, based on experience

  • I have Aspergers. I was diagnosed in October '06 when I was 20. Since then I have grown and developed more than I can say and finding out you have Aspergers is not the end of the world, its just the opposite, you just perceive the world you live in, in a different way to most people. If others have a problem with you, its their problem. Not yours.

Fantastic effort, can't wait to see this movie. Everyone out there on the Autistic Spectrum: you are not alone. Message me if you want to chat.

  • Hey I am 20 and I have Asperger's Syndrone. It's been hard to cope with college, and yes, some people perceive the world differently. :)

  • It would be interesting to play someone with autism. When I live with it everyday : )

  • I was diagnosed when I was 18.

Thank you for making these videos.

You get FIVE stars for the blue puzzle piece.
