LOL This was just one of many bloopers in DBZ. The creators of DBZ should've took their time and went over their footage before putting it out there for the world to see.
Anyone ever think that when the Kamehameha was done, Gohan flew in the air to get a better view of where Cell was standing to see if he was still there or not, and was also ready to fire another Kamehameha, but then sensed Cell was 100% dead, then fell from being tired and because he didn't have to fight anymore. This is pretty simple.
@andershly: So who says he didn't have the energy to float up to see if Cell was gone, then realized Cell was dead and let up, so he fell. This is pointless, it could be an animation error or he flew up there to see if Cell was gone then sensed he was so let up. End.
I think it's because he didn't want to destroy the world. If Vegeta's Galick Gun in the Saiyan Saga could destroy Earth, think of what the Kamehameha could do to it... I shudder to think about it...
@SonicTheHedgehog3220 im sure thats the reason why, but i wanna know 'how' he did it lol from what you see, i dont see anytime he had to jump up in the air lol
@XxAdrenaline27 The crater wasn't even that big! Not to mention he's floating like 20 feet ABOVE the crater, considering the fact that he was walking, he should have been floating above the crater by just a little.
2 Theroies. 1, His blast was so powerful he destroyed the very ground he was standing on and just floated while it gave way. Or 2, the animators got lazy and overlooked this part of the animation. How do you think it happened?
Either that the last Kamehameha wave was so intense and powerful, that it disintegrated the very ground he was on (but wouldn't the other Z warriors be destroyed in the process?).
My other theory is that they did that to make it more dramatic to make him fall.

its because when he shot the kamehameha it destroyed half the ground, thats why it looks torn up as well.
