All trucks have their problems an the reason seagraves isnt gunna b fdny ladder trucks is because ferrar is cheeper an kme is the best built fire truck
Just so we are clear hear it was not a manufacturer malfuntion it was operator error. KME is one of the worlds best build trucks it is a proven fact that they have the strongest ladder its the only manufacturer the profloads all YES ALL its ladders no other manufaturer in the industry does it. For you seagrave fans If they make such a great piece Why are they boarderline shut down NEW YORK is starting to chance its fleet to I believe crimson I work For pierce and they are no better..
Hey Vito, You're correct about all makers having problems but I can give you MANY examples of KME's poor workmanship/lack of thought that goes into the design. I'm talking about the nickel-and-dime stuff. Leaky compartments, improper wiring. I could go on listing problems with a truck that is less than a year old. Also, I couldn't tell you what type of truck FDNY has nor do I care what you see on TV. I speak from first hand experience and I'm telling you KME has NOT been the least bit impressive
Rather than stand there with their thumbs up their asses, perhaps they could have run a couple of HOSES up the ladder and saved a little more of that building. There was a lot of opportunity at that angle. If shit break you don't just stand around looking at the pretty flames. The ladder is a tool to make our job easier NOT the definition of our job, if it should stop mid air...duuhhhh.... grab me a hose, looks like I squirt water from here. Bunch a funzanoons.
Why don't you kiddies GROW UP. These issues have popped up with ALL manufacturers equipment. Some of you clowns with your kiddie mentalities. Ohh if it's not Pierce or Seagrave it's not a real firetruck. Or if New York has it I must have one too, while you strum your puds watching re runs of Rescue Me or Ladder 49. Jesus Christ. Many major cities have had huge issues with Pierce, Seagrave, Ferrara, Smeal, etc. They are machines susceptible to mechanical issues. And THEY ALL HAVE THEM.
I could give 2 Shatz who made the truck. They all have issues. I just wanted to know if it broke down or is it operator error. What was the issue? What broke? Is this going to be a problem with other aerials? What was done to fix it on scene? Okay, back to strum'n my pud.

Gotta love that KME workmanship. Nice move by the city...find out what truck has the most problems then buy a whole fleet of the same.
