The fact that Palin appeared on SNL solidified her being a caricature is garbage. McCain appeared, so did Obama and Clinton. The real problem is that McCain wanted to distance himself from Bush, but chose a running mate who would be the next Dubya, given the opportunity. She was unqualified, but all she knew about being VP was that she'd be boss of the Senate. Also, in attracting far-right voters, she alienated center-right voters with comments about community leaders, etc etc.
