ABC Familly Channel HD actually showed Santa Claus The Movie last week, i was lucky enough to DVR it, in fact ABC Familly Channel has done a great job showing some old time christmas movies and specials this year, also DVRd Mickeys Christmas Carol and Mickeys Christmas Special (which has donalds snow fight) on ABC Familly Channel last week too

When I try to tell people about this movie, they always say "Yes, I have seen it. It had Tim Allen in it". I then have to tell them "No, that is a different movie entirely".

Loved this movie as a kid, but had not seen it for so many years, I bought it on DVD this year. That - and "A Mom For Christmas". (Wanted to show my younger sister and cousins some of the classic Christmas movies that I grew up with).

WHY did they stop showing this great movie on TV? It hasn't aired in years.

I remember this movie was promoted a bit more in the 1980s than A Christmas Story was, yet that is the movie that runs for 24 hrs on TNT rather than this one. Quite the shame indeed.

@1978angelgirl i picked up santa clause the movie on dvd in my local supermarket for £3! the best value dvd i think ive bought! ive watched this film every year for the last 20 or so years and it still ticks all the right boxes! well played out, good characters and and brilliant story! deffo be one to show the kids and say " i watched this when i was a kid" merry christmas!

I read on wikipedia that John Carpenter was originally chosen to direct this,but he listed too many demands for it. A pity really,it imo would've been an interesting movie for him to direct.
