Government is a form of religion. It competes with religion. This is why the Soviets were anti-religion, and why the US founders tried to keep them separate via the first amendment.
The Libertarian Party platform has a phrase "to oppose the cult of the omnipotent state."
I'm an atheist and a minarchist, and am drawn towards anarcho-capitalism.
2)He doesn't want to get rid of the central bank.
3)He's for the voucher program instead of completely dismantling compulsory public schooling.
4)He gave advice to the Chile's government how to extract more money from the populace (ie give the people the benefit of the free market so they are more productive and make better tax livestock)
There is a huge misconception among organized churches. Most use Romans 13:1-7 as a basis for "obey government", which makes 0 sense at all. There is no government that has been "anointed" by God if you will.
Many people support big govt regardless of Christian or not. At this point it's either support conquest via wars or support growing government control domestically. Either way it promotes larger and more powerful government. Neither option appeals to me at all.
my problem with anti government people is what is there definition of government. A buisness is kind of a government. Churches have governments in a way. Even anarchist groups have structures that could be said to resemble government. I think most intelegent people can agree that our current government is costing more than its worth and is pretty much worthless. But It needs to be replaced with something. Governments are unavoidable, wether its christians or anarchists, or atheists.
What I oppose is in annotations two videos back. (And I'll PM it to you)
I do not believe those formations are inevitable. Call the structures I support "government" if you like. They do not conform to aforementioned definition, and therefore are distinct from anything we call "governments" today.
Well that's quite a fallacy. I am fairly certain blackacid could vouch for my statement having spoken to me extensively about both religion and government. I'll admit that "most" are quite misinformed about both their religious beliefs, as well as government. You should probably rephrase your statement as "most" Christians.
The problem isn't necessarily "God" related. The problem is the growing acceptance that "govt knows best" and obedience is "patriotism".
depends on the time period of christianity you're talking about. in roman and greek times the state and christianity were pretty much bedfellows and it was like that until the renaissance... so i dont see the fallacy, especially since in the bible it says to "love the government" my dad showed me when i told him i was an anarchist
christianity is dead and been proven fake. it's history. there is no longer a perceived christian majority--they are now on the margins (or will be in 10 yearsish)
Nice opinion. I don't really care if it's a majority or minority, so long as I'm not being hunted down because of what I choose to believe. Either way, your dad has a strange version of the bible.
So true mate, nice one.
