Most of the Arabs can't serve in the army, but they wouldn't want to even if they could. She and her 2 daughters have stayed in my home as have other Arab and Kashmiri friends. When my husband and I go to Syria we stay with Sunni and Alawi friends, ditto in Jordan, and Qatar. I have been in Egytian homes and Libyan homes as a guest for dinner. So don't make silly assumptions about me.

Just because Egypt owned Gaza doesn't mean that they pay for it in the same way that the Palestinians do. America owns Puerto Rico, but if Cuba were to take over Puerto Rico it would be the Puerto Ricans paying for it, not mainland Americans. We wouldn't be affected at all. Many of the difrences between the Israeli-Arabs and the rest of the Israeli citizens are because of the army service. Many extra rights are given only to those who served in the army. Most of the Arabs can't serve in the army, but they wouldn't want to even if they could. Many steps have been taken in the past few years by the Israeli supreme court to change this situation and give the Arabs equal rights, there is still a long way to go.

But here are some people that were involved and they blamed Arafat for the failure: Nabil Amr-a former minister in the PA, Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia, US Middle East envoy Dennis Ross, President Clinton. Its really simple. Israel has to respect Palestinians by EITHER - 1. Withdrawing all illegal settlements, settlers, military, police, tanks, air-raids, curfews checkpoints, wall, etc... - OR - 2.
