  • not saying im an expert or anything but it looked as if you were a little hunched over in the half seat. and if you kept a steadier half seat it might help. beautiful horse!! keep up the amazing riding!

  • but horses know how to gallop already? they all learn it as young horses, no offense meant to you , but i dont see what your trying to do?

  • horses need their heads to actualy go all out.. no wonder she wont go any faster, you keep her head down so low she cant look where shes going

  • Read the information box, moron. Then hang your head in shame at your stupidity. THINK before you open your big mouth.

  • I watched your first video on introducing Netta to the water and she looks great in this video!! I think you are doinf a great job with her, she looks so calm! She is gorgeous!! I lease a horse whom I am/want to buy and when I do I would love to introduce him to the beach as well!

  • how can you teach a horse to gallop when all horses are born with the knowlege of how to gallop?

  • they also know how to collect, extend, piaffe, passage, piroutte, flying change etc. You're right, they're born with this knowledge. But put a rider on their back and they have problems. Physical: balance and strength problems....try doing all the above with a sack of sand that is 10% of your body weight on your shoulders. And technical problems...the horse has to learn the meaning of the signals you give to perform any given movement.

  • oh, okay! i just never actually understood that. thanks for clarifying!

  • And somewhere along the line this mare had learned that a signal to gallop meant she had to rip and tear, head up, 110mph....bolt. So we have to teach her that gallop DOESN'T mean all that...it means go faster by breaking into a 4 beat stride, and to lengthen stride, but to KEEP TO THE RHYTHM THAT THE RIDER WANTS. And the way to do that is to take things slowly and get the horse to RELAX, and to ROUND UP and LIFT her back. PS watched your video...good riding and good instructor!

  • okay, tht makes sense..i just got a younger thoroughbred and we are going to have to work our way up alot to be able to gallop without running away! lol!

haha, thank you!! which video was it?

  • Kobie edited

  • Okay, sweet! That is the new guy! Wish us luck!

  • Had to teach my horse to Gallop! I know strange! He wouldn't stretch out and basically just did a big canter. Beach was the pefect solution to that and alot of work in a raceyad Gallops. Hes got the idea now.

  • well its good to know you dont rush your horse to do anything good luck with your gallop ;)

  • Very nice mare. Well done with keeping her calm about it all.

  • bloody hell just let her gallop

  • I completely agree!!

  • yer lol just stop with all the other stuff and give her her head and then you will see true gallop works for me

if there on a lazy day then give the a little whoooooooooooo and then your flying

horses are ment to be for fun

we ll am 18 and still gallop all over the beach on my 2 cobs

  • sigh.....

  • sorry that comment from djdeck was realy from me but i 4got to get off his account

  • beautifully done

  • nimrodty, its never taught that with any of my horses.

  • then you need a good health/accident insurance policy

  • netta is beautiful! Good try!

  • i wood of sed it was more a canter to a fast canter good try though

  • Read "About This Video". (click on "more"0

  • oh sorry, i didnt read it. xx

  • you have got much more patience than I. I couldent help it the first time I took my boy out on the beach, I just let him fly. Now every time i go to the beach he is high as a kite. I like your method better.

  • i agree this is called training holding a horse back so it gets stressed out enough to go really fast isnt really teaching anything....

  • Maybe if you gave her more of her head.

  • Actually, That easily teaches a horse to bolt if another horse took off out in open spaces.

  • Nice to see a calm and collected way to refine galloping for a change instead of the usual kick - whip - hang on routine, well done

  • dido

  • This is beautiful work. Lovely mare. Put this to music!

  • Nice mover!

  • AWW! You're so LUCKY!! I wish I lived by the beach so I could ride on it.. I wish I had my horse back too! I MISS HER SO MUCH!

  • Thats a really gawjuz horse you got! I like the last clip, looks really awsome. Your lucky you can go to the beach :) I like all your videos, they are great!

  • This is the stuff dreams are made off, its what all the hard work is about and providing there are no pot holes its a fab way to let off steam! Everyone loves to see a horse gallop on the beach :-) Fab vid.

  • Thanks. We're very lucky to have this horse and lucky to live in an area where we can do this.

  • Well, not sure what you mean by a "discipline". Once the horses get used to the beach they love it especially ploughing through the waves. And if you can find a loooonng stretch of isolated beach you can gallop for miles which they also enjoy so long as you don't push them to go too fast or far. We go for about 1/2 hour at a big trot and a hand (slow) gallop, then turn around and come back doing the same &/or playing in the water.

  • So you gallop your horses on the beach? is that a disipline, im just curious.

  • And it's a great way to get them fit!

  • Very good.

  • We're now riding her at a good gallop on the beach in a bridle without a bit. She's totally controllable and relaxed. Actually she's much more relaxed without a lump of metal in her mouth.

  • Awesome video; fun to watch! Netta is a great-looking horse!! Also, the background (the waves and stuff) is perfect!

  • Beautiful, I love especially how you're taking it slow. So many people rush the training of their horses.

  • No choice but to take it slow! :-)) Very hot/hyper mare, bucket loads of talent but very anxious type, when she gets het up all she wants to do is go go go, i.e. flight/panic response. Everything we do with her is to say chill out, relax, be lazy, don't worry about a damned thing.

  • the horse i ride is very strong in a canter and sometinmes VERY uncontrollable - could you give me a few tips on how to help her - i hate the whole whips, and beating method its only her trying to tell me she has energy and wants to go shes not naughty...

thanks - amazing video its so nice to see calm methods etc. VERY NICEEE :D

    xx
