Though it is common for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder to have repetitive movements, just because someone does have repetitive movements does NOT mean they have an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
description of the video: "i am pretty sure that's what his problem is."
first of all, even if it WAS asperger's syndrome, would you really refer to it as his "problem"? he's a boy probably no older than five and he's playing with someone, he's guaranteed to be hyped up. he's having fun. every time someone rocks, you can't just assume they have asperger's. he gives you fantastic eye contact while smiling, and you don't seem like you were smiling, so he read your expression and imitated it.
Parents are such fucking retards these days. "My child is active and happy, but isn't doing so in exactly the way my parenting book describes? He must have something wrong with him! Let me drug him up on Ritalin and take him all over town in search of meaningless structure."
Fuck you for making this video, you dumb cunt. You don't deserve children.
@UltimaterializerX I could not have put it better than you just did. There also needs to be some kind of license for people to earn, before being allowed to have children...
@UltimaterializerX To all you haters and stone throwers, Ignorance speaks loudly. U don't know if there is a landslide of symptoms she is noticing. Obviously something is going on enough for mom to raise questions. All U see is this little video here and think its sufficient to bash mom. Thank GOD she is not one to just turn a blind eye on her kid, most likely because she loves this child much much more than you ever will. So go masturbate urself, grow a hart, stop hating, and stone throwing.
@VanessaCArthur I'm not "hating" anything. The modern parent assumes something is always wrong with their kid when they aren't sitting still 24/7. There is NOTHING wrong with this child at all.
@UltimatrializerX The truth is kids are coming out different, is it the pesticides we gobble up, vaccines, or 2012 'nuts' talking about new souls rejecting the human bodies. Either all that or we are just paying closer attention to our kids. Back in the days they'd probably just beat a kid and call them stupid if the couldn't talk or pick up social ques. The kids today are different, we'd be in denial to not be able to admit that. Don't hate on mom, she probably doesn't deserve your disrespect.
i think everybody must have all medical knowledge other than the nurses, doctors, etc. if they want to go search google for their symptoms & self-diagnose themselves. I'm glad I graduated nursing. At least I know what I'm doing when I go to the internet & I still need my doctor's final decision.
I think he is just having fun..relax. Kids this generation are not autistic, they are liked the way they used to be back then before they had day cares. A quiet kid was standard 50 years ago
It takes more than rocking to determine Aspergers. If you suspect that something is really different about your kid, ask to have them evaluated. The earlier the better.
busted mom!!! he looked scared when he realized you were taping him and not the performing child... Many kids of repetitive movements they due as a form of personal comfort. Just love and nurture your child without trying to find something wrong with him.... if his day to day function is extremely difficult and interupting the lives of thoe around him, get him evaluated by a professional instead of assuming u already know
He's a normal kid that's laughing while rocking back and forth while getting a reaction. If anything will screw him up in life, it will be his over-protective, paranoid mother.
no, it might be autism, If he cannot speak, no eye contact, not babbling, or arm flapping it will probably be autism. Or, it will be a mild case of asperger's
A child can have sensory issues without having an autism spectrum disorder--maybe he is just seeking vestibular, proprioceptive, or tactile stimulation in this video?
A lot of kids who were born premature have sensory abnormalities later in childhood and even through adulthood, and they can affect any of the seven senses (vision, touch, taste, smell, hearing, plus vestibular (where your head is in space--stimulated by swinging or rocking) and proprioceptive (how much pressure is on your body)).
Banging like that does not mean Aspergers. Looks like he is just being a normal kid. Unless your child has issues with getting along with other children, making friends, or understanding things others would normally understand.
I don't think it is appropriate to post a vid on you tube to try and diagnose your kid. find a place that specializes in this sort of thing, like a mental health clinic. Being paranoid or suspicious about small things like this is not a healthy way to raise a kid.
He has asperger's because he rocks back and forth? Have you considered that he is just being a kid? People need to stop trying to put a medical spin on everything, let the kid be, your fucking desire to throw drugs down a child's throat is disgusting. Instead of filming him like some fucking object go be a mother.
it is my understanding that the rocking, banging head and other body gestures like spinning hand flapping is Autism not Aspergers, what is his vocabulary like? My two little ones are suspected to have AS. I see this was posted a long time ago did you ever find out ?
haha your the one with aspergers if you think there is something wrong... you need to use that camera to get film of the afro boy americas funniest videos
There are no meds to 'cure' aspergers, and I don't believe there is anything to 'cure' in someone that has aspies, when has it been such a crime to just be a little different!?
"For success in science and art a dash of autism is essential." Hans Asperger
My partner has aspergers, and i see the same look in this boys eyes as I see in my partners. he is a very intelligent boy, dont slosh him in with the rest of the kids. treat him well, and with kindness.
I have AS, and it takes more than rocking and banging your head to get a diagnosis. To top that all, it's normal for kids to do this, especially if they throw tantrums. And yes, I know he wasn't.
What is wrong with people these days??? There is NOTHING wrong with your child. Don't dope him up on some meds that he doesn't need. I am so sick of these parents with hyper children that think there's something wrong with them. Sometimes they need a good'ol fashion spanking, but this child is a normal little boy! Your going to dx him with aspergers because he rocks?? If that were the case case we would all probably be on meds!
What is wrong with you? Have you ever heard of a mothers intution? Stop assuming that the childs mother is basing her judgment soley on what you're seeing in this video. If you actually did your homework, you'd realize that children are medicated for a variety of reasons. Being hyper is not the single most important factor. You need to work on your judgmentalism and anger. Relax!
Whats wrong with me?? I'll tell u what's wrong with me,I'm sick of seeing all these kids doped up & walking around like zombies! I'm sure theres a few that needs meds, but most DONT! As 4 me doing my homework..lol...I've done more than my fair share thank U,if U would do some research of ur own U would find that 2 many kids R on meds that they don't need 2 B on. Pharmaceutical companies making meds 4 fictional ailments and the side effects R horrible! Next they will make 1 4 picking their noses!
There's a lot of attention being payed to autism/aspergers these days. Before u get yourself crazy based on a behavior, get a professional evaluation. Our daughter is an Aspie, determined after extensive testing and evaluation by professionals. She also has learning issues and OCD. Getting a professional opinion will relieve doubts and give you a plan for the future.
He wouldn't do that again if you would say to stop it.
I think he hasn't aspergers, his emotions tells me hes bored, but has a little fun by doing this. People with aspergers do this when they have problems.
Looks like aspergers to me. My brother has this i know the signs a mile off. its aspergers but untreated. or un diagnosed. if he gets diagnosed they'll proberbly give him some tablets to calm him down.
Most people here are not qualified to make a diagnosis, especially not with a video running just over a minute. He might just want to make noise, or he might just want to rock, etc....My grandmother runs a daycare, Ive seen this happen a lot. All kids are different and he stops when he realizes youre filming him. Unless theres other odd behaviors why worry about him? The other kid in the video seems to be demanding attention...you could over analyze that as well.
I have identified kids with autism within two seconds of seeing them. It isn't that hard, usually they are looking in the distance. This kid doesn't have it though.
My brother grew up doing this daily, worse than this. Its more of a 'childhood thing' than anything. By the way, my brother is now 26, owns his company and doing fine,,,,,,,there was never a prob. Ok, to relax :)
My brother has asperger's and he ALWAYS found some way to rock back and forth at that age...in a rocking chair or rocking from foot to foot in front of the tv for hours on end. He is 23 now and doesn't do it anymore but I'll never forget that he used to do that.
Aspergers, high functioning autism, sensory processing disorder, all possibilities. The repetitive physical movement, the self stimulating rocking. He also seems to laugh at an inapropriate moment? The constant movement and talking are also present in the video. He could also just be bored as some might suggest but in all honesty i would trust your instinct and reserch further as early intervention is important for parents, family and children.

But it COULD be stimming.
Stimming can be part of several autism spectrum diagnosis, Infantile/Kanner Autism, Aspergers, PPD-NOS.
I would contact your local pediatrician for help, evalutationa and possible referral to a psych professional.
May i commend you on brilliant alertness!?
Please post again.
