Very unfortunate they usually have the same basic setlist with the typical hits every time.

I mean, come on, why didn't they play one like 'Nomad', also an Eastern-styled track, on the basically "Live After Death 2008"-tour"?...

Or 'The Pilgrim' for that matter...

I can't believe people are trashing Janick Gers. Have you guys listened to any of their last three albums? The harmonizing of the songs sounds so incredibly awesome its not funny. You can only get that with three guitarists. Those songs sound great and it is partly why, once again, Maiden is one the most unique bands in history. I like Gers and I think he has a place in Maiden. The three guitar attack sounds awesome and I think all their old songs sound a little bit better now. UP THE IRONS!

He doesn't suck, he just has his own style.

But I agree that he doesn't always play the solos well.

Sometimes he just doesn't seem to feel it and dumbs down the solo almost completely.

Occasionally he has awesome live versions though.

But yeah, this wasn't one of them.

He just played his own "signature"-scales over the song, except for the last half.

There is a LOT of debate about Gers' place in Iron Maiden since the reunion almost 10 years ago now(wow!). While I appreciate their way of thinking, he's earned a spot and all that-and I'm sure he's a nice guy-, the reality is he does NOT fit up there with dave and Adrian. The hopping around, the silly poses, throwing his guitar cable around, the sloppy playing... it takes so much away from the overall performance. he's not even up in the live mix unless he's doing a solo.
