i finnished a lot of games in that time.

Shinoby 3 and strider were harder for me to finnish.

But i wass so obsessed about those games i kept on trying.

I also used to have an atari 2600 and those games on that console kept on getting more difficult round after round untill some of them became totaly impossible.

I think the Genesis version "Ghouls n Ghosts" was the arcade version (not to be confused with the arcade Ghost n Goblins which subsequently came out in the 80's) whereas Super Ghouls and Ghosts was a different version for the SNES. I agree the SNES version was the BEST!!

When sega reprogrammed this game for the genesis/megadrive they made Arthur faster which made the game alot more fun imo...the music instruments just sounded cooler too.. my fav genesis game.

Acutally, I did get past the cloud boss too. That's as high as I got though. Geez, this game brings back some memories. Winterswhere I grew up were bad, before we could drive we'd play game like this if it was too cold outside to play... I always hated that fire level the worst.

The first two levels of this game are almost too easy... But once you get passed those, you'll be dieing like crazy. I've played Super Ghouls and Ghosts on the SNES and that does not compare to the hell I've gone through to beat this game. I can only get to the first final boss of this game, yet I can beat Super Ghouls and Ghosts fully. The second jump makes room for error as this game is not forgiving one bit. Most of the times it's 1 hit you're dead (3-2, 4-2). Weird thing is the second level

No, I'' admit level 2 was harder in snes, but overall if you take time to learn both games thoroughly this game here is harder overall.

I think its because the level design in this game is a alot more tight in design which doesn't give much room for movement, the second game for snes is more open, plus the double jump opens up alot of strategy to proceed through levels.

@aztecmondobean The golden armor woukld give you a magic ability depending on what weapon you were using at the time. Could be lightning, or fire, or whatever the property of the weapon was. You use it by just holding down the attack button and it charges up, let go, and you release the magic. It was pretty strong, but your not seeing it here cause it takes a bit of time to do that., and this is a speed run

No, it wasn't you. This game was absurdly hard. (Frickin' endless respawns) Looks to me like part of his trick was to not look for new weapons (unless one comes his way). Sound strategy, I think...pick up one Giant Axe and you're screwed for the whole level. The speed run is pretty insane.

While this is indeed a very hard game, it's just awesome. Honestly, I am one of those people who got angry with it and threw my controller across the floor, but really, did any of you, despite throwing your controllers, did any of you out there actually stop playing the game? It's hard and causes the birth of a lot of naughty words, but like Ninja Gaiden, we never gave up. It's an awesome game, and very worth adding to your Mega Drive collection.

This game makes me think of the 80's when I was a little kid playing it at 7-11 while my mom was making me a burrito in the microwave. I remember the burrito being damn good and this game being damn hard. I was only seven years old. This shit is hard as all fuck. But I remember it being called Ghosts n Goblins. When the game reached consoles it's name was changed. My favorite by far is Super Ghouls n Ghosts.  Props to the dude or dudette kicking ass like Bruce Lee on this very hard game.
