SEEN ANGEL Live 4 Times in Philadelphia . First w/ Blue Oyster Cult , Manfred Manns Earth Band ANGEL......... Then ANGEL Headline w/Big Wah Cu . Tower Theater Upper Darby PA. Then 1980 Kansas City MO. w/ Frank Marino Mahogany Rush,Humble Pie,Missouri,ANGEL
In the book And Party Every Day it says Casablanca planned on doing a concert film/movie called Angel at Midnight (I think thats the right title) in around 77 or so.It was going to have them play a show and have all the crowd dress in white like they were playing in heaven. But they canned the idea at the last minute. So there has got to be some live footage floating around somewhere. Some old reels in a warehouse somewhere?Anyway thanks for putting this up!!!
I heard Casablanca put all there eggs in one basket when it came to Angel,"And they could of had Van halen a year before Warner's got them,'I always liked Angel but Casablanca must have beat it self in the head everyday for years, thinking if weed just did the first album from van halen Angel would have been a bigger success in the later part 80's eighties..For those that don't know Angel was discovered by gene simmons of Kiss in 75 and he discovered Van halen also Casablanca bankrupt from Angel
Wow, I haven't heard this song in 25 years...can you put the studio version on here? And Big Boy, which was on the same record...thanks for the memories!
One of my all time Fav bands. I saw them a few times 1978-80 in Phila. I have old 8mm movies that I shot in the basement...but no projector. One of these days....
I digitize 8mm, video, audio for a living. If you need some help, let me know. I'll send you back your original recordings. Would love to help you out and see some old Angel recordings. They rock.
I loved Angel.I saw them at the Erie County Fieldhouse a long time ago.Maybe 1978? Im not sure. They were a normal metal band, but I think the singer set them apart.A unique voice.Awesome thanks
@jacques0711 Bad time is a great song..I always liked the sinful record all though chics wanted Rod stewart this was good after being tired of ole rod!!..Angel drove the bus when it came to the hard rock image i always thought,''And i swear they got some of it from, "Sweet "..The fucked up thing is people didn't know them,"And angels problem was the nerdy new wave hair cutt fucking early 80's Plus casablanca put there eggs in one basket and went bankrupt even though they knew Van halen before '
Angel- March 10t, 1978 Palladium NYC- Triple Bill: The Godz (1st LP), Judas Priest (Stained Class) and Angel (White Hot). Angel Headlined. 7 days later, March 17th The Tower Philly; The Godz, Hawkwind (they sucked sooo bad- booed off the stage) and Angel. Angel Rocks!
Greatest Entrance to a concert EVER would love to see a live concert in which they show the entire show beginning to end, I saw them when sinful came out at my high school in IL Molly Hatchet opened for them..
Good question. I know of only two interviews with Starz - one on a local NJ station I think, and one because CBS was doing a story on the high cost of records.
Ahhhh!.....Angel, the most glam rock band ever. way ahead of there time, in terms of Stage show . glam costumes and hair. PLus great catchy tunes, and excellent musicianship. they still sound great today 30 plus years later ,,, Amazing - - - - - - - A N G E L - - - - - - - ROCKS!!
I bet if anyone owns quality live performance footage of Angel, it would be Gene Simmons. He "discovered" them as he likes to claim, and he was notorious about filming everything back then. If he thought he had a chance of making money off it, he would release it....LOL!
You guys wanna know how we are going to spread the word of Angel to the masses?...Call and insist they play Angel music on the Rock stations of Sirius satellite radio. I sent a series of letters to them and I've noticed that they are playing "Can You Feel It" on Boneyard! Write to the stations and demand more Angel...let's make this the second coming of Angel, who were waaaaaaay ahead of their time!!
I remember Angel well. I saw them in May of 1978 at the Warnors Theatre. This band from Columbus Ohio "The Godz" opened up for them. They were great. God what i'd give to be 20 again
wow that would be cool. i would at least like to see all this 8mm footage just to see if they filmed the very start or the very end of the show. but this is a true peice of rock history any way. i saw then at the pallidium in NYC in march of 78. what a friggin night. i'll never forget.
I'm sorry but all the video I have is included here except for portions that were too jumpy or out of focus. Sadly, no video of the start or end of the shows.
Man oh man. I #$%@-ing LOVED this band then and still do now. PLEASE help me on my quest to get Sirius-XM radio to include Angel in their programming. All it takes is some airplay and I truly believe people will want to know more about the greatest, most under-rated band of the 70's! It's up to us real fans to make this happen for our boys in white!
For those of you that aren't aware, ProperGroupie (PG to us who know and love her) has some of the best videos on YouTube. You may even see yours truly bopping his head in a Starz video. Be sure to check all her videos out....NOW!!!!
Whoa! Thank God for Angel. Great sound and instrumentation. Listen to this through headphones so you can hear the full sounding drums and ripping bass lines of Felix Robinson. Anyone know of their live album "Angel, Live without a Net" ? I have it on viynl. Don't know if it's on CD somewhere.. Any help?
Damn.... 1977/1978 first in philly,pa w, Manfred mannss earth band and Blue oyster cult and the following year in philly , tower theatre w/ big wa ku... then in K.C. MO, w/ Frank Marino n mahogony rush and humble pie and mountain..... 1980..... I luv the song BAD TIME
1979!! Was 13 years back then and a huge Angel (and Kiss) fan. Unthinkable in those days that I (in Holland) would see this kind of footage. Nowerdays with internet it's so easy to see. Thank you very much. PowerGroupie!
Yes, the beginning footage is from the Nassau Coliseum. March 2, 1979 (see "More Info" top right"). Although the shot of the logo is from the 3rd piece of footage at the end. Thanks!

Great to see, just a shame they were never captured on tour professionally.
If ever there were any bands I'd love to see 70's complete concert footage of it would be Angel, Mott The Hoople, Slade and The Sweet.
