I use to download music from limewire... and i created a whole entire library of music [On my sisters computer] lol then backed all my music up to files on CDs (about 100 each CD) and when i got on my computer i imported them directly to itunes (so it looks like its music from CDs rather than from limewire)
Limewire ended about a year ago [Sued by a VERY long list of music studios] but i still have all my music... I never got arrested, so how did someone get arrested for downloading six songs.

There are already laws against Copyright Infringement. They can use those laws! They don't need SOPA written with broad and vague strokes that can be used beyond it's mandate. Remember the Crack House Law to stop those pesky Crack Houses but ended up being used to prosecute Nightclub and Rave promoters among other non-crack-dealing entities. Copyright Infringement is already illegal and they have the power and have used it to stop sites like Napster already. SOPA is about something much more...

Before watching this video, I didn't even know what SOPA was about. Then, I started looking at other videos on this subject and realised they were all freaking out. You mentioned the anti-SOPA/PIPA movements as a giant fire that everyone is throwing gas on. We have two options here, kill SOPA/PIPA with fire, or kill it with... cuddles? I choose fire. I don't understand the point of this video. Obviously any movement will have the calm and collected, the factual and objective, and the passionate and determined. It's what makes a movement successful. The reality is that we need any and every kind of person to stop any form of censorship of the web. ANY form.

I use to download music from limewire... and i created a whole entire library of music [On my sisters computer] lol then backed all my music up to files on CDs (about 100 each CD) and when i got on my computer i imported them directly to itunes (so it looks like its music from CDs rather than from limewire)
Limewire ended about a year ago [Sued by a VERY long list of music studios] but i still have all my music... I never got arrested, so how did someone get arrested for downloading six songs.

@kingseho You wouldn't be stealing the car from the owner, but you're stealing from the company that makes that car because there is now an extra copy of their product out there that they didn't get their money for. Which technically isn't stealing I guess, so people should stop calling piracy stealing, but the company is still losing money that it rightfully deserves.

It seems to me like people are so caught up in "fighting the power" lately, that they are beginning to find problems where there are none. As you said Gunns, it's not like the gaming industry is going to come down on YouTube channels which are actually advertising for them and helping their sales, such as Machinima. I always hated this privacy crap. You buy a song and download it, then you think it is yours. But it's really not. You can listen to it. But if you upload that song that is "yours" for a youtube video you can get in trouble, whether copyright and crediting is present. Doesn't matter. Pirating will happen.

However, I hope that all these commenters realise that in by trying to enforce SOPA and get us worried about that, they will get PIPA enforced instead. We really should stop targeting SOPA all the time, and try and focus on PIPA a bit more, as we know that they are just trying to slip this under the door

There are already laws against Copyright Infringement. They can use those laws! They don't need SOPA written with broad and vague strokes that can be used beyond it's mandate. Remember the Crack House Law to stop those pesky Crack Houses but ended up being used to prosecute Nightclub and Rave promoters among other non-crack-dealing entities. Copyright Infringement is already illegal and they have the power and have used it to stop sites like Napster already. SOPA is about something much more...

Don't quote logic if you don't use it. Method of delivery of the fact doesn't negate its message. Fact stays fact event if it is delivered by emotionally charged individual or a calm person. Could it be that you just didn't like the person and your feeling of dislike is affecting your judgement?

I'm not taking sides on whether or not SOPA is good, but a lot of the people who support SOPA are also the major providers of the stuff you search for on the internet. If you want to see their stuff, you've got to play by their rules. The internet is not public, it is the very apex of private. Every website or file is located somewhere on a server owned by somebody, and when you access it, you're playing ball in their court. If you break their rules they have every right to stop you.
