There was another actress named Carole Bishop in Equity & this Carole was forced to change her name right after the show moved to Broadway...if my memory holds up I think she was nominated for the Tony as Carole but was Kelly by the time the Tony Awards were handed out.

I just read that, except for her birthday and name, this is exactly what Kelly Bishop said when she introduced herself at the first workshop for A Chorus Line. Love it!

Maybe that explains some of the "Carole/Kelly mystery" that no one has ever been able to explain!

Maybe she said she was Kelly Bishop...really Carole _______ Bishop which she really hated.

Thank you. I've finally been able to see the whole show and it just reconfirms that this is one of the best pieces of musical theatre ever produced and Ms. Bishop, Ms. McKechnie and Mr. Williams all richly deserved their trophies.
