whether MJ pushed of or not He did something that Kobe nor LeBron would have done, and that was make the STEAL from Malone. AND push off or not he still made the shot!
@T7866 It is true: but it was a good handling of pressure: which to some people doesn't exist: it's all lack of focus because people can't think straight on two things at once: so if you're focused you don't feel the "pressure" because you aren't thinking about anything but the shot: in a way you are not thinking but you are just doing and you're in the zone.
i never get why player take a three when it not need to win but never the less if he was 1 inch closer to the three point line, that shot prob woulda been all net
i remember when i was showing michael those types of shots on my nerf basketball net, oh how the times have passed, good thing i was such a great trainer...
It's so fucked up because you guys argue over kobe and jordan like their your relatives and family members. That's some fucked up shit, just watch basketball and respect both players for their talent. Because I honestly doubt the M.J and kobe jelly bean bryant actually gives a fuck about you.
@nixdaduda Quit hatin' bitch. 26 children? Are you jealous that my comment actually has likes you fucktard? Why don't you pull your head out of your ass and do a full split on your dad's dick. Idiots like you are slowing down mankind, so why don't you do us all a favor and kill yourself.
now im pretty sure that jerry reinsdorf regrets not signing phil jackson another year and not upgrading scottie's contract because im pretty sure that if the bulls of 99 like mj would of had a month's rest and playing time cut off in half every 3 games or more the bulls would of won a 7 th championship im not taking nothing from the pacers-lakers finals but but scottie/pippen/rodman were guys that were constistant not 16 ppergame hotshots doing freethrows all night
Kobe could get 7 or 8 rings. It doesnt matter. Michael Jordan changed the game of basketball. He dominated both ends of the floor and was incredibly competitive. Just remember..your favorite player's favorite player is Michael Jordan
@21ollej i hate people like you because people like you cant take jokes. Try to live a littte once in a while you retarded piece of shit and i would appreciated if you pull your head out of your moms pussy before you type on the computer.
@padard Hahahaha, you're the one crying like a faggot. And what are you talking about you know nothing of me. Please, go slit your wrists til you bleed out, do the world a favor.
@21ollej Great comeback dumbfuck. Do you have any other jokes besides suicide ones? Go ahead and fucking hang yourself so that people won't have to bother reading any of your retarded ass comments and jump up on your dad's dick and do a full split.
@padard COOL STORY BRO, I understand now that you're just an internet badass who has no future in the real world. Stop eating out your mom's pussy and open your eyes.
By the way, it says something when theres more than one person getting mad at you, and what the fuck are you talking about "comebacks" what the fuck do you think is happening, I don't think this is a kiddie playground argument.
Seriously, faggots like you should just slit their throats and die. Do the world a favor.
@padard Guys just calm down, just reading all of Padard's comments it's pretty obvious he's a deprived boy and just starving for attention on the internet because he can't get it anywhere else. Just ignore the kid and move on.
@Mythicshelper i really dont care about this anymore but even if you dont like my very first comment then ignore it and move on and if you cant move on then that sucks for you
btw, the real people that starve for attention are the ones that cant take a joke and always have to comment bullshit.
you can either stop typng and this conversation can be over or you can keep commenting about how you dont like my comment and you will still get nowhere at all with this
@padard Too long, didn't read. To me.. to EVERYONE who sees your other comments you're just a lonely kid who has serious problems so he needs to bash other youtube users to feel any sense of self-recognition.
@21ollej He was joking.... You can't take a joke? Along with all the Utah Jazz fans? If it wasn't a top rated commet, yall would scroll by it like it wasn't anything special.
@21ollej No you wouldn't because the comment is 2 months old. So you would read 2 months worth of comments? And it's not prejudice, it's a joke. I doubt he meant the city.
@21ollej Meant state, and I was saying you woudn't have seen the comment if it wasn't a top comment. Point is, he wasn't serious, and you shouldn't take it for being serious. Even if he was, who is he? Just some random guy on youtube.
@21ollej forget you man, i already have 32 likes and nobody likes an asshole who likes to start bullshit, why dont you get off your fatass and do something instead of staying on the freakin computer all the time you pussbag.
btw, your jokes are all lame because all you talk about is suicide maybe because your life sucks so badly that you try to ruin others even though it's not working at all and you should do yourself a favor and go blow yourself up, bitch
@padard Lol, you think I'm joking? And then you tell me to kill myself? Sounds like you're out of material, and yes, you have 32 likes which OBVIOUSLY makes you better than me.
How pathetic, using youtube likes to determine who's better, this is why I hate fatass pussies like you. You should take seriously just take a dive into a pit of needles. Dumbass kid.
@padard Seriously padard, how old are you? Telling people you're better than them because you have more youtube likes? At first I thought ollej was overreacting, but he may be right, loner nerds who will never get a girl (such as you) need to kill themselves.
@Top10WAR Come talk to me when you have a valid comeback that doesn't always end in me killing myself. Telling me to grow up? You're the one that started this stupid shit. You're just fucking jealous of how many likes I have, which shows how useless you are to society because you just sit your ass on the computer all day and watch porn. Natural Selection would be a valid argument here if you were dead because that would fucking help the human race from mentally retarded asswipes like you.
@padard You are high I'm a Suns fan but Utah has some very passionate fans and had some damn good teams that deserved a title and would have won one if not for these unstoppable Bulls teams
@BRBaller1213 Yeah he's ignorant. I was born in 88 and when I was growing up in the 90's, the Jazz and the Bulls were two of my favorite teams. When they'd play each other I really didn't root for one team or the other, I'd just enjoy the game and whoever won deserved it. Malone/Stockton and Jordan/Pippen...great duos there. I also liked the Pacers a lot. Fuck man..most 90's basketball teams were awesome now that I think of it.
Please Read This Im Only 14 Im Trying Make My Dreams Come True I Have All Ways Wanted To Become A Rapper But Me And My Family Are Just Trying Our Best So I Decide To Make Music Since i Made This Cooment Can You Look At MY Videos` Thanks
@truthisbest Yea and those impersonations got him 5 championships, that's some tripped out shit. Like they say if you want to be successful in certain areas of life watch the person who's most successful and just do what they do, kobe took that to heart and hey can't blame him " the shit worked'' lol
@nobodysperfect06 if u look at career stats, kobe is not better then jordan... i know thats wut ur getting at and its not true... look at playoff stats... jordan has way more total playoff points with way less playoff games... and one more title... every year jordan played with the bulls, they went to the playoffs... theres no debate... not saying kobe isnt the best today but he is not better then jordan was.. research it
@nobodysperfect06 In all seriousness though, Kobe is the closest thing as a player to MJ, but MJ was on a completely different league than anyone else. Had his father not get murdered -- and MJ still was motivated to win more rings -- he would have stay during the '94 and '95 season and most likely the Bulls won 8 straight. That's just unthinkable.
yeah, and Michael Jordan could have broken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record and be the NBA's all-time leading scorer if he he played consectutively all the way from his rookie year to his final retirement with the Wizards in 2003, never took any of those years off, he is only 3rd place
Nd u lames say LBgay got sumthn on MJdabeast haha LBJ only has power, no post, no dribble skills or nuthn. MJ got it all hey even 6 rings witone superstar dat WE EARN (DRAFT)----not no lets team up wit Fagget BoSh nd LAZy pumpfakN WADE.GET DEY ILLUMINATI selfs outta here
This is what makes MJ the best and most versatile in this game. He saw the position he was in relation to the referees, took advantage of that with the push off the butt of Byron Russel, and as they say it, the rest is history.
I especially liked how Jordan pushed off with his left hand but everyone that is on Jordan's nuts fail to see that or claims that Byron "slipped". LOL.
@joshw604 It's funny how some people took this interview seriously. Russell was joking around and confronting MJ in a funny way about his hall of fame speech. He wasn't being serious. You wanna know what Russell really thinks then go out and try to find his post-game press conference that he did in 1998 after the "push" happened. Plus, if you didn't know, there's a basketball move called "ankle breaker" which is exactly what MJ did on Russell. When u do this move, the other guy always slips.
@WorldOfSnakes did I ever say it was a pushoff? did i ever think that it wasnt a legit move and ask for a definition of an ankle breaker? no and no. i dont give a shit what bryon russell said and i'm an MJ fan. why dont you read what others say before assuming things and being all offended.
@joshw604 lol fool chill out no one is offended man! You want me to assume you know what an ankle breaker is? You're a stranger remember so I give you the definition and if you know it hey congratulations. Don't need your attitude lol. I just gave you extra info to make convesation you see so guess who needs to chill (hey it's you!!) llol
in my opinion jordan changed the game. he is and always will be the best basketball player of all time. he was not only an incredible all around player but he did something not all sueprstars can do and thats make your teammates better.
@u2MRtheFLY How did he do that? Pippen, Grant, and Armstrong all played better without him in 1994. Their ppg and fg% all went up, and their turnovers went down without Jordan. Grant and Armstrong both became all stars without Jordan, and they were never all stars with him. Rodman was already established as the league's top rebounder before Jordan, and Kerr played the same before and after Jordan as he did with Jordan. So how did Jordan make his teammates better?
@TheFreeMentality I think it's possible to make your teammates better and not necessarily have that reflect in better stats. I think having Jordan around gave them all a lot more confidence, and his will to win rubbed off on each of his teammates. Here's a stat though - 6 rings, that's how he made them better.
@bibzzzz Well I can agree with the first part, but the same can be said of several players. I still don't think Jordan was on the level of Magic, Bird, Russell, etc.. when it came to making teammates better. All the players on their teams saw massive drop off in production and winning when those guys retired. For Jordan not so much.
@TheFreeMentality That's exactly what I'm saying though. Jordan's ability to make his teammates may have been so great, that they were still better players after he left and continued to play well. Had it not been for Jordan I don't believe for a second that the likes of Grant or Armstrong would have been playing at an All-Star level the year he retired. Of course this is all impossible to prove or disprove, I'm just pointing it out because I don't think you've considered the idea.
@bibzzzz Your first point is largely disputable. No one knows how good Grant and Armstrong would've been without Jordan, who knows? My point is they played better without him than they did with him, which is highly unusual of role players following their leader's retirement. Again look at the players on Lakers and Celtics following Bird, Magic, and Russell's retirements.
@TheFreeMentality your talking about individual stats which mean nothing. You pretty much answered your own question. Of course there points are going to increase because Jordan was no longer there which means there going to get more shots and points. Im talking about Jordan making the team better as a whole. When Jordan left they had a 2nd round playoff exit. They were better with Jordan.
@u2MRtheFLY Yeah they should've scored more points, but it is unheard of to see teammates fg% go up and their turnovers go down in the absence of the player who supposedly made them better. When Magic, Bird, Russell retired, all of their teammates saw a drop off in their individually and winning. BTW don't get me started on that 2nd round exit, the Bulls were robbed of a chance to go to the Finals that year by the worst call in playoff history. That 94 team could've very well went to the finals.
do you know how many people in the history of sports have said 'they got robbed' by a call? so your telling me because of the call they didn't make it to the finals? If Jordan were there they would've probably won the finals that year. do you think jordan would've let the refs decide their fate? I dont think so. My point is without jordan they lost and when he came back they won champinships again. so without him when it comes to titles they couldnt do it.
@u2MRtheFLY That's exactly what I'm saying. If you watch the playoffs you know one little missed call, shot, or play could cost a team the season. The Bulls were a bad call away from going up 3-2 closing it out at home, and possibly going to the Finals, and I don't think Jordan being there would've had anything to do with it. A bad call is a bad call my friend. Cont.
@u2MRtheFLY I'm not saying the Bulls were better off without Jordan, but they definately didn't struggle without him the way Bird, Magic, and Russell's teams struggled without them. But yeah, with Jordan they won championships and that was a difference. But what I'm saying is they came awfully close to doing it without him. Bird, Magic, and Russell's teams barely made the playoffs without them.
@TheFreeMentality i understand what your saying, but 'awfully close' just doesn't count. the 6 championships proved that they are better with Jordan as a whole team. i dont think it was a coincidence that they didnt make it to the finals that year when jordan wasent there. sure they got a bad call but if Jordan were there he would've put the Bulls in a situation where they wouldn't have to worry about a call like that.
@u2MRtheFLY As for the bad call, what do you mean Jordan wouldn't have put them in that situation? You make it seem like the Bulls blew every team out by 30 pts with Jordan, and that isn't so. Look at Gm5 of the 93 ECF vs the Knicks. Imagine what would've happened if the refs actually blew the whistle and called a foul on the Bulls when they were blocking Charles Smith. It would've most likely costed the Bulls the series, so Jordan being there has nothing to do with a bad call.
@TheFreeMentality its an arguable point i guess. all i know is they won 6 championships with michael. would they have won all those without him? most likely not. my point is the team as a whole was better with jordan. just look at the banners.
@TheFreeMentality yeah but you're missing alotta key factors here, the Celtics were bad buz of losing, BIrd, McHale & Parrish, same goes for the Lakers losing Magic, Kareem & Worthy,
you cant compare the 94 Bulls w/out MJ to those forementioned teams bcuz they still had Scottie, Horace & Phil Jackson, but when the Bulls lost MJ, Pip, Rodman & Phil they were just god awful
@theiveslikeus No I'm comparing the 89 Celtics and the 92 Lakers which had the same teams minus Bird and Magic. The Celtics went from winning 57 games in 88 with Bird to dropping to 42 wins without him. The Lakers went from winning 58 games with Magic to dropping to 43 wins without him. Both teams had the same players as the years before. Now the 94 Bulls went from 57 with Jordan to 55 wins w/o him. So yes it's a fair comparison to the 94 Bulls which were the same team minus Jordan.
@TheFreeMentality you are taking wayyyy too many things outta context here and some of these claims are just flat out wrong,
Grant & BJ were all stars for just one year and didnt do much after that, their PPG are gonna go up w/out MJ, thats just common sense for them to see more ShotsPG, but them shooting better is ridiculous when GRant shot better in 91&92 than he did in 94 w/out MJ and BJ infact shot worse in 94
@theiveslikeus I was comparing the stats of those players from 1993 to 1994. The fact is those players never made the all star team with Jordan, but they made it without him. They and Pippen also shot higher FG% and commited less turnovers which is unheard of when taking the leader off of a team. What's the excuse for less turnovers AND higher FG%. Have you ever seen role players do that when taking the leader off of a team?
@TheFreeMentality Hey, genius.....the 1993-94 Bulls had far fewer possessions than the other Bulls teams. That would explain the fewer turnovers. As far as field goal percentage, that's ONE season!
I don't know how you can possibly justify the claim that the 1990s was a weak decade. Think about the players in that era: Jordan, Pippen, Reggie Miller, Ewing, John Starks, Shaq, Zo, Grant Hill (in his prime), Malone, Stockton, Hakeem, Drexler, Chris Mullin, David Robinson, Isaiah, Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, Joe Dumars, Tim Hardaway, Rodman, Gary Payton. I mean, come on. That era was more talented than any other era except perhaps the 1980s.
@MapleFreak181 6 Brand new teams Thats 72 brand new players So instead of 276 players there 348. Those players are all guys that barely missed out on the NBA and now were given jobs. No brand new team is going to be good right from the start. It usually takes a decade almost. Now talent has caught up because of the ambush of foreign players. Back in the 90s an elite team would have 2 all stars at best and they would be an elite team. Now you have the same guys getting snubbed.
@manimaduck In 1991, there were 27 teams, now there are 30... so Im not sure where that 6 is coming from.. And the league that MJ played in was far from "watered down"... There were tons of hall of famers, from centers to pgs, be it 80s or 90s, you would hear some of the biggest names in each position; kareem, hakeem, malone, bird, mj, magic, stockton etc...
@Anacarter 95 and 98 they added 2 more teams. That makes 29 from when he started was 23. Kareem wasnt playing in 91. Magic only played til 91 (not counting a comeback). Bird only played til 92. Even still, most teams werent legit because talent was spread so thin. MJ only faced 2 good teams in the final and even thats skeptical because besides Stockton and Malone (who were both getting up in age) they had maybe one roll player.
@manimaduck To get to the finals in the 90s, Bulls consistently beat the Indiana Pacers teams who won 50+ games a season behind Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Jalen Rose. The Bulls also had to beat the Knicks, who were perennially a contender w/ Ewing, Starks, Oakley. Both Utah teams they beat were in their prime. Also, they had no role players? What? Hornaceck averaged 14 that season and shot 44% from three. Russell went for 10 and 3. They had 4 players who averaged double digit scoring.
@jcj8484 Those teams were 50 win teams because they had just added 4 brand new teams from 88-90. Orlando got lucky because of Shaq. The heat only got good in 96-97. The hornets never had much talent outside of Alonzo. Utah was a good team, and the suns were too, but they barely had time to get chemistry because everyone was injured at various points of the seasons. The Bulls were a good team, but were overrated because of all the new undeveloped teams
@manimaduck If anything, the 90s were the most competitive years in the NBA. Even the expansion teams were good! Charlotte, Orlando and Miami (the expansion teams) each went to the playoffs that decade. Charlotte went 5 times, Miami 7 and Orlando 5, including a run all the way to the finals. These were not watered down years. You had great teams in Chicago (MJ), NY (Ewing), Houston (Hakeem), Miami (Zo), Orlando (Shaq), Indiana (Reggie), Phoenix (Barkley), Portland (Drexler), Detroit (Isaiah).
@jcj8484 Most of those teams only had 1 good player on them though. Most of those teams didnt have 3 HOFers on them like the Bulls. The bulls had 3 guys who had received MVP votes. The knickerbockers are about the only good team, with the Rockets for maybe a couple years. Orlando was a 2 man show.
@cerebralassassin711 Yes and 2 other hall of famers. Oh and a 6th man of the year. Oh and the all time leader in 3 point %. But ya there was only 3 hall of famers on that bulls team. All 3 of which got MVP votes in there careers.
@manimaduck if anything, 00s was the watered down league; all the HS players flooded into the league, i know half way thru the 00s, the rule was changed, but playing that 1 year in college before being eligible doesnt mean much. back then, players actually went thru (or half way ie 2 or 3 years) college basketball which prepare them to go pro better, so they actually "know" the game...
@Anacarter Ya it make sense that Lebron, Kobe, KG, Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, and them stink. Just because they are good enough to go to the NBA doesnt make it watered down. If you try from HS and arent good enough then you dont get drafted or get very limited playing time. Having a chance to play in 2-3 NBA years instead of playing in 2-3 college years COULD (I emphasize that it doesnt always work) make a player better i.e. Lebron and them.
im glad to have been alive to have witnessed that on my 16 inch television. actually im still alive, and the world and life has been been downhill ever since MJ left.
@Greenwood007 yeah he pushed off according to you but why is it that bryon russell, stockton, malone, hornacek & the whole utah jazz bench didn't complain? pls include the majority of the jazz fans in attendance at the delta center. THEY WERE STUNNED!!!
@claudine69retoke Yeah Bryon Russell, Stockton, Malone, Hornacek & the whole utah jazz bench didn't complain according to you. I was watching the game live, I know all about the complaining. Where do you get your info from?
@Greenwood007 you were watching the game live & you only saw the alleged push on replays. did you see that push in real time? after MJ made the shot the players didn't complain. At least 2 or 3 of them signaled for a time-out & went straight to their bench. I don't see anyone from the Jazz complain to the officials. Not even the coach. Where did you get your info from? From the Utah dailies the following day?
@claudine69retoke Google "fannation jordan push off russell". And lets hear your excuse. It was obvious in game time it was a foul, the refs knew it, Jordan wasn't called because he's Jordan, end of story.
@Greenwood007 Google your so called expert witness:Wikipedia:Mike Mathis, he's a dubious character himself. Read what Charles Barkley had to say about this referee.
Do you play basketball man? If you're playing basketball & the referee made a bad call or a no-call you will immediately complain, am I right? You don't complain a few hours, days or years after the fact.
You're saying that the alleged foul was obvious in game time. Who are you kidding?
@claudine69retoke Why are you so hung up on the players having to complain immediately for it to be legitimized a foul? The view that writer is shared by others, not just him on corrupt referees not calling fouls or over calling fouls for certain players. Jordan wasn't called a foul because he's Jordan, the same can be said for Kobe.
@Greenwood007 I assume that you don't play competitive or street ball for you didn't answer my question. And thats one of the reasons why you can't digest why I keep on forcing the issue of complaining about the no-call on MJ. This is the Finals, few seconds remaining, game & season of the Jazz on the line. You just can't keep quiet if you think the officials swallowed their whistles.
The offensive foul was obvious? WHY didn't the crowd shout at the top of their lungs to protest the injustice?
@claudine69retoke Actually you've avoided my questions which makes this all pointless. I do play ball, and I don't run after the refs on a bad call because I don't want a technical when my emotions are high. But I'm gonna end it here, you still can't defend any other statements I made and only think a foul is legit if there is complaining after.
@Greenwood007 You're the one who's not answering my questions & you have a bad habit of going into generalized conclusions. You wish that the referees should have called a foul against Jordan even though you yourself, Jazz players, coaching staff & the Jazz fans didn't see any foul on LIVE action or broadcast. As I said before they were STUNNED & that includes YOU! You only saw the push-off on replays. And you go into conclusion that the refs are corrupt & favors Jordan because he is Jordan.
@Greenwood007 I'm not the one who's suppose to be defending any statements, it is should be YOU. You're the one who issued the challenge to "Jordan nuthuggers" to come to you. FYI, just to let you know & so you be more informed, Bryon Russell himself told in a TV interview that Jordan made a GREAT basketball play, had no problem with the officials not calling the foul & in his eyes, Michael Jordan is the Greatest Basketball Player that ever lived.
@Greenwood007 And yes, Bryon Russell was very appreciative of Coach Jerry Sloan for giving him the opportunity to guard the best player of the game. End of the story. Actually the story ended almost 13 summers ago on a beautiful night @ the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Move on with your life as Bryon Russell did.
there is not doubt in my mind that jordan is the greatest but he could not have done it without his teammates. He had some of the greatest teams of all time backing him up during every championship. for anyone to think he could it alone is ignorant and naive. he can go for as my triple doubles and score all he wants. he still needs rodman down low and pippen on the outside and whoever else doing their part.
@bigcody79 please shut up! of course he couldn't have done it by himself, it's a team sport! don't come in here with that crap... we all know he couldn't have done it by himself. however, he had the ability to make the biggest plays when they mattered most and that is what's important right now. so stop the hate and appreciate the greatness! thank you
@cjeanfelix your comment was really unnecessary, all i was saying was he needed his teammates to get him in the position to make those big shots. jordan is the fuckin man, im not hating what so ever but even he needed help.

nobodysperfect06 6 months ago
@nobodysperfect06 In all seriousness though, Kobe is the closest thing as a player to MJ, but MJ was on a completely different league than anyone else. Had his father not get murdered -- and MJ still was motivated to win more rings -- he would have stay during the '94 and '95 season and most likely the Bulls won 8 straight. That's just unthinkable.
VF5 6 months ago
yeah, and Michael Jordan could have broken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record and be the NBA's all-time leading scorer if he he played consectutively all the way from his rookie year to his final retirement with the Wizards in 2003, never took any of those years off, he is only 3rd place

@nobodysperfect06 in career per game stats, Kobe only bests Jordan in 3pt%, and in FT% by less than a tenth
Jordans post season PPG is about 7 higher than Kobe
Kobe was second banana on his first championships to Shaq, who outscored him every year
Kobe will never be better than Jordan, especially not on the basis of team achievement[championships]
no one guy ever wins a title, as Jordan's early career shows--sick stats, but no rings until Pippen, Grant, Cartwright, Paxson etc showed up

This is what makes MJ the best and most versatile in this game. He saw the position he was in relation to the referees, took advantage of that with the push off the butt of Byron Russel, and as they say it, the rest is history.

joshw604 4 months ago
@joshw604 It's funny how some people took this interview seriously. Russell was joking around and confronting MJ in a funny way about his hall of fame speech. He wasn't being serious. You wanna know what Russell really thinks then go out and try to find his post-game press conference that he did in 1998 after the "push" happened. Plus, if you didn't know, there's a basketball move called "ankle breaker" which is exactly what MJ did on Russell. When u do this move, the other guy always slips.

in my opinion jordan changed the game. he is and always will be the best basketball player of all time. he was not only an incredible all around player but he did something not all sueprstars can do and thats make your teammates better.
u2MRtheFLY 8 months ago
@u2MRtheFLY How did he do that? Pippen, Grant, and Armstrong all played better without him in 1994. Their ppg and fg% all went up, and their turnovers went down without Jordan. Grant and Armstrong both became all stars without Jordan, and they were never all stars with him. Rodman was already established as the league's top rebounder before Jordan, and Kerr played the same before and after Jordan as he did with Jordan. So how did Jordan make his teammates better?
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality I think it's possible to make your teammates better and not necessarily have that reflect in better stats. I think having Jordan around gave them all a lot more confidence, and his will to win rubbed off on each of his teammates. Here's a stat though - 6 rings, that's how he made them better.
bibzzzz 8 months ago
@bibzzzz Well I can agree with the first part, but the same can be said of several players. I still don't think Jordan was on the level of Magic, Bird, Russell, etc.. when it came to making teammates better. All the players on their teams saw massive drop off in production and winning when those guys retired. For Jordan not so much.
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality That's exactly what I'm saying though. Jordan's ability to make his teammates may have been so great, that they were still better players after he left and continued to play well. Had it not been for Jordan I don't believe for a second that the likes of Grant or Armstrong would have been playing at an All-Star level the year he retired. Of course this is all impossible to prove or disprove, I'm just pointing it out because I don't think you've considered the idea.
bibzzzz 8 months ago
@bibzzzz Your first point is largely disputable. No one knows how good Grant and Armstrong would've been without Jordan, who knows? My point is they played better without him than they did with him, which is highly unusual of role players following their leader's retirement. Again look at the players on Lakers and Celtics following Bird, Magic, and Russell's retirements.
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality your talking about individual stats which mean nothing. You pretty much answered your own question. Of course there points are going to increase because Jordan was no longer there which means there going to get more shots and points. Im talking about Jordan making the team better as a whole. When Jordan left they had a 2nd round playoff exit. They were better with Jordan.
u2MRtheFLY 8 months ago
@u2MRtheFLY Yeah they should've scored more points, but it is unheard of to see teammates fg% go up and their turnovers go down in the absence of the player who supposedly made them better. When Magic, Bird, Russell retired, all of their teammates saw a drop off in their individually and winning. BTW don't get me started on that 2nd round exit, the Bulls were robbed of a chance to go to the Finals that year by the worst call in playoff history. That 94 team could've very well went to the finals.
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality
do you know how many people in the history of sports have said 'they got robbed' by a call? so your telling me because of the call they didn't make it to the finals? If Jordan were there they would've probably won the finals that year. do you think jordan would've let the refs decide their fate? I dont think so. My point is without jordan they lost and when he came back they won champinships again. so without him when it comes to titles they couldnt do it.
u2MRtheFLY 8 months ago
@u2MRtheFLY That's exactly what I'm saying. If you watch the playoffs you know one little missed call, shot, or play could cost a team the season. The Bulls were a bad call away from going up 3-2 closing it out at home, and possibly going to the Finals, and I don't think Jordan being there would've had anything to do with it. A bad call is a bad call my friend. Cont.
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@u2MRtheFLY I'm not saying the Bulls were better off without Jordan, but they definately didn't struggle without him the way Bird, Magic, and Russell's teams struggled without them. But yeah, with Jordan they won championships and that was a difference. But what I'm saying is they came awfully close to doing it without him. Bird, Magic, and Russell's teams barely made the playoffs without them.
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality i understand what your saying, but 'awfully close' just doesn't count. the 6 championships proved that they are better with Jordan as a whole team. i dont think it was a coincidence that they didnt make it to the finals that year when jordan wasent there. sure they got a bad call but if Jordan were there he would've put the Bulls in a situation where they wouldn't have to worry about a call like that.
u2MRtheFLY 8 months ago
@u2MRtheFLY As for the bad call, what do you mean Jordan wouldn't have put them in that situation? You make it seem like the Bulls blew every team out by 30 pts with Jordan, and that isn't so. Look at Gm5 of the 93 ECF vs the Knicks. Imagine what would've happened if the refs actually blew the whistle and called a foul on the Bulls when they were blocking Charles Smith. It would've most likely costed the Bulls the series, so Jordan being there has nothing to do with a bad call.
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality its an arguable point i guess. all i know is they won 6 championships with michael. would they have won all those without him? most likely not. my point is the team as a whole was better with jordan. just look at the banners.
u2MRtheFLY 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality yeah but you're missing alotta key factors here, the Celtics were bad buz of losing, BIrd, McHale & Parrish, same goes for the Lakers losing Magic, Kareem & Worthy,
you cant compare the 94 Bulls w/out MJ to those forementioned teams bcuz they still had Scottie, Horace & Phil Jackson, but when the Bulls lost MJ, Pip, Rodman & Phil they were just god awful
theiveslikeus 8 months ago
@theiveslikeus No I'm comparing the 89 Celtics and the 92 Lakers which had the same teams minus Bird and Magic. The Celtics went from winning 57 games in 88 with Bird to dropping to 42 wins without him. The Lakers went from winning 58 games with Magic to dropping to 43 wins without him. Both teams had the same players as the years before. Now the 94 Bulls went from 57 with Jordan to 55 wins w/o him. So yes it's a fair comparison to the 94 Bulls which were the same team minus Jordan.
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality Smartest argument in youtube history...
coogiszk 7 months ago
@TheFreeMentality you are taking wayyyy too many things outta context here and some of these claims are just flat out wrong,
Grant & BJ were all stars for just one year and didnt do much after that, their PPG are gonna go up w/out MJ, thats just common sense for them to see more ShotsPG, but them shooting better is ridiculous when GRant shot better in 91&92 than he did in 94 w/out MJ and BJ infact shot worse in 94
theiveslikeus 8 months ago
@theiveslikeus I was comparing the stats of those players from 1993 to 1994. The fact is those players never made the all star team with Jordan, but they made it without him. They and Pippen also shot higher FG% and commited less turnovers which is unheard of when taking the leader off of a team. What's the excuse for less turnovers AND higher FG%. Have you ever seen role players do that when taking the leader off of a team?
TheFreeMentality 8 months ago
@TheFreeMentality Hey, genius.....the 1993-94 Bulls had far fewer possessions than the other Bulls teams. That would explain the fewer turnovers. As far as field goal percentage, that's ONE season!

xRodolfoMR13X 8 months ago
I don't know how you can possibly justify the claim that the 1990s was a weak decade. Think about the players in that era: Jordan, Pippen, Reggie Miller, Ewing, John Starks, Shaq, Zo, Grant Hill (in his prime), Malone, Stockton, Hakeem, Drexler, Chris Mullin, David Robinson, Isaiah, Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, Joe Dumars, Tim Hardaway, Rodman, Gary Payton. I mean, come on. That era was more talented than any other era except perhaps the 1980s.
jcj8484 8 months ago
@MapleFreak181 6 Brand new teams Thats 72 brand new players So instead of 276 players there 348. Those players are all guys that barely missed out on the NBA and now were given jobs. No brand new team is going to be good right from the start. It usually takes a decade almost. Now talent has caught up because of the ambush of foreign players. Back in the 90s an elite team would have 2 all stars at best and they would be an elite team. Now you have the same guys getting snubbed.
manimaduck 8 months ago
@manimaduck In 1991, there were 27 teams, now there are 30... so Im not sure where that 6 is coming from.. And the league that MJ played in was far from "watered down"... There were tons of hall of famers, from centers to pgs, be it 80s or 90s, you would hear some of the biggest names in each position; kareem, hakeem, malone, bird, mj, magic, stockton etc...
Anacarter 8 months ago
@Anacarter 95 and 98 they added 2 more teams. That makes 29 from when he started was 23. Kareem wasnt playing in 91. Magic only played til 91 (not counting a comeback). Bird only played til 92. Even still, most teams werent legit because talent was spread so thin. MJ only faced 2 good teams in the final and even thats skeptical because besides Stockton and Malone (who were both getting up in age) they had maybe one roll player.
manimaduck 8 months ago
@manimaduck To get to the finals in the 90s, Bulls consistently beat the Indiana Pacers teams who won 50+ games a season behind Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Jalen Rose. The Bulls also had to beat the Knicks, who were perennially a contender w/ Ewing, Starks, Oakley. Both Utah teams they beat were in their prime. Also, they had no role players? What? Hornaceck averaged 14 that season and shot 44% from three. Russell went for 10 and 3. They had 4 players who averaged double digit scoring.
jcj8484 8 months ago
@jcj8484 Those teams were 50 win teams because they had just added 4 brand new teams from 88-90. Orlando got lucky because of Shaq. The heat only got good in 96-97. The hornets never had much talent outside of Alonzo. Utah was a good team, and the suns were too, but they barely had time to get chemistry because everyone was injured at various points of the seasons. The Bulls were a good team, but were overrated because of all the new undeveloped teams
manimaduck 8 months ago
@manimaduck If anything, the 90s were the most competitive years in the NBA. Even the expansion teams were good! Charlotte, Orlando and Miami (the expansion teams) each went to the playoffs that decade. Charlotte went 5 times, Miami 7 and Orlando 5, including a run all the way to the finals. These were not watered down years. You had great teams in Chicago (MJ), NY (Ewing), Houston (Hakeem), Miami (Zo), Orlando (Shaq), Indiana (Reggie), Phoenix (Barkley), Portland (Drexler), Detroit (Isaiah).
jcj8484 8 months ago
@jcj8484 Most of those teams only had 1 good player on them though. Most of those teams didnt have 3 HOFers on them like the Bulls. The bulls had 3 guys who had received MVP votes. The knickerbockers are about the only good team, with the Rockets for maybe a couple years. Orlando was a 2 man show.
manimaduck 8 months ago
@manimaduck so, its 2 aging Hall of Famer vs an aging MJ..:)
cerebralassassin711 8 months ago
@cerebralassassin711 Yes and 2 other hall of famers. Oh and a 6th man of the year. Oh and the all time leader in 3 point %. But ya there was only 3 hall of famers on that bulls team. All 3 of which got MVP votes in there careers.
manimaduck 8 months ago
@Anacarter Mistake It was 95 they added 2 teams. 97 they had a team relocate.
manimaduck 8 months ago
@manimaduck if anything, 00s was the watered down league; all the HS players flooded into the league, i know half way thru the 00s, the rule was changed, but playing that 1 year in college before being eligible doesnt mean much. back then, players actually went thru (or half way ie 2 or 3 years) college basketball which prepare them to go pro better, so they actually "know" the game...
Anacarter 8 months ago
@Anacarter Ya it make sense that Lebron, Kobe, KG, Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, and them stink. Just because they are good enough to go to the NBA doesnt make it watered down. If you try from HS and arent good enough then you dont get drafted or get very limited playing time. Having a chance to play in 2-3 NBA years instead of playing in 2-3 college years COULD (I emphasize that it doesnt always work) make a player better i.e. Lebron and them.

@Greenwood007 your not worth it

@Greenwood007 yeah he pushed off according to you but why is it that bryon russell, stockton, malone, hornacek & the whole utah jazz bench didn't complain? pls include the majority of the jazz fans in attendance at the delta center. THEY WERE STUNNED!!!
claudine69retoke 9 months ago
@claudine69retoke Yeah Bryon Russell, Stockton, Malone, Hornacek & the whole utah jazz bench didn't complain according to you. I was watching the game live, I know all about the complaining. Where do you get your info from?
Greenwood007 9 months ago
@Greenwood007 you were watching the game live & you only saw the alleged push on replays. did you see that push in real time? after MJ made the shot the players didn't complain. At least 2 or 3 of them signaled for a time-out & went straight to their bench. I don't see anyone from the Jazz complain to the officials. Not even the coach. Where did you get your info from? From the Utah dailies the following day?
claudine69retoke 9 months ago
@claudine69retoke Google "fannation jordan push off russell". And lets hear your excuse. It was obvious in game time it was a foul, the refs knew it, Jordan wasn't called because he's Jordan, end of story.
Greenwood007 9 months ago
@Greenwood007 Google your so called expert witness:Wikipedia:Mike Mathis, he's a dubious character himself. Read what Charles Barkley had to say about this referee.
Do you play basketball man? If you're playing basketball & the referee made a bad call or a no-call you will immediately complain, am I right? You don't complain a few hours, days or years after the fact.
You're saying that the alleged foul was obvious in game time. Who are you kidding?
claudine69retoke 9 months ago
@claudine69retoke Why are you so hung up on the players having to complain immediately for it to be legitimized a foul? The view that writer is shared by others, not just him on corrupt referees not calling fouls or over calling fouls for certain players. Jordan wasn't called a foul because he's Jordan, the same can be said for Kobe.
Greenwood007 9 months ago
@Greenwood007 I assume that you don't play competitive or street ball for you didn't answer my question. And thats one of the reasons why you can't digest why I keep on forcing the issue of complaining about the no-call on MJ. This is the Finals, few seconds remaining, game & season of the Jazz on the line. You just can't keep quiet if you think the officials swallowed their whistles.
The offensive foul was obvious? WHY didn't the crowd shout at the top of their lungs to protest the injustice?
claudine69retoke 9 months ago
@claudine69retoke Actually you've avoided my questions which makes this all pointless. I do play ball, and I don't run after the refs on a bad call because I don't want a technical when my emotions are high. But I'm gonna end it here, you still can't defend any other statements I made and only think a foul is legit if there is complaining after.
Greenwood007 9 months ago
@Greenwood007 You're the one who's not answering my questions & you have a bad habit of going into generalized conclusions. You wish that the referees should have called a foul against Jordan even though you yourself, Jazz players, coaching staff & the Jazz fans didn't see any foul on LIVE action or broadcast. As I said before they were STUNNED & that includes YOU! You only saw the push-off on replays. And you go into conclusion that the refs are corrupt & favors Jordan because he is Jordan.
claudine69retoke 9 months ago
@Greenwood007 I'm not the one who's suppose to be defending any statements, it is should be YOU. You're the one who issued the challenge to "Jordan nuthuggers" to come to you. FYI, just to let you know & so you be more informed, Bryon Russell himself told in a TV interview that Jordan made a GREAT basketball play, had no problem with the officials not calling the foul & in his eyes, Michael Jordan is the Greatest Basketball Player that ever lived.
claudine69retoke 9 months ago
@Greenwood007 And yes, Bryon Russell was very appreciative of Coach Jerry Sloan for giving him the opportunity to guard the best player of the game. End of the story. Actually the story ended almost 13 summers ago on a beautiful night @ the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Move on with your life as Bryon Russell did.

there is not doubt in my mind that jordan is the greatest but he could not have done it without his teammates. He had some of the greatest teams of all time backing him up during every championship. for anyone to think he could it alone is ignorant and naive. he can go for as my triple doubles and score all he wants. he still needs rodman down low and pippen on the outside and whoever else doing their part.
bigcody79 1 year ago
@bigcody79 please shut up! of course he couldn't have done it by himself, it's a team sport! don't come in here with that crap... we all know he couldn't have done it by himself. however, he had the ability to make the biggest plays when they mattered most and that is what's important right now. so stop the hate and appreciate the greatness! thank you
cjeanfelix 10 months ago
@cjeanfelix your comment was really unnecessary, all i was saying was he needed his teammates to get him in the position to make those big shots. jordan is the fuckin man, im not hating what so ever but even he needed help.
