ever considered hollowing out a nerf vortex from tip to 3/4 the length and about an inch wide. then you can fill it with  flour and hold it in with a paper plug or something similar. the force holds the flour in and on impact with ground the flour fly's forward pushes the plug out and releases the flour to add an explosion simulation. im considering getting a grenade launcher if i can make this work

love it, looks great and it adds something extra to games. problem is i dont know anybody that would take the hit unless you could somehow put flour in the bombs and add that sort of effect

@jtprouty no i get the idea and its really cool. marshalls must be good where you go. have you tried any way of adding flour or powder. just something to add more effect. the whistle is awesome it just needs more of an explosion simulation on impact

@Radioactivezombies59 you are exactly right. In WWII many American soldiers picked these up as souvenirs. They didn't know it was small just to be portable, so they thought it was fired from the knee. Many people broke there legs from this.

Not to be a douchefag but Yes it is called the knee mortar but it is actually not meant to be used on your knee many people have broken their legs trying to fire it from their knee and I'm 11...

This is the best Airsoft "Mortar" I have seen on youtube! Olny if you could some how put white powder in the Motar shell so when it hit there would be a nice white cloud..

For the White powder Flower should work..

You can buy these howllers on eBay I looked up but can you make a small tutorial video of the exact PVC parts and firing pin so I can build it? Oh and what type of airsoft grenade shell did you use? I'm thinking of buying a madbull shell

@HunterJman4 It's just a PVC adapter from the PVC aisle at Lowes that fits the shell. Sand down the corners to make it fit inside the mortar.

How did you make the fitting for the shell? I am experimenting with a soviet style mortar using a larger barrel and a shell casing that contains both the gas shell and vortex. Could i get some tips because i may be selling them and i want to make them last. These would be great at my local fields.

I don't have a list, just went to Lowe's and picked stuff out as I went down the aisle. The hardest part of the whole build is the trigger and luckily I got it right on the first try.

Its not really made to be fired from the knee. When the americans came across these they called them "Knee Mortars" because the LOOKED LIKE they were meant to be fired from the knee. They were actually designed to be fired on the ground braced against a log.

I play airsoft a lot and my uncle has made oone of those knee mortars before and the reason that I have posted this comment is because you are not pushing the nerf vortex down the tube far enough.

@pyrusmaster101 Actually, the Vortexes go all the way to the bottom of the tube without being pushed. Works that way with all of my airsoft weapons......

um u dont fire a knee mortar off your knee usual in a prone or kneeling positon a lot of us soilders would do that and they would hurt them selves ya

a piano wire is the pin? you can get the vortex football at Big Lots for $3 each

I bent a piece of piano wire to shape to fire mortar. It pushes the pin on the bottom of the 203 round.

Have lots of regular Vortexes. Would like to find some more of the pocket howlers.
