This was the only episode of Glee that my mom has watched all the way through. She's a huge fan of West Side Story, so seeing the Glee cast do a stage play of her favorite musical was just perfect :) She even kind of teared up a bit when this song came on.

People who have problems with people who are gay straight or bi are exactly the same as people who are racist or sexist. I have a gay friend but he isn't any different to anyone else. They way I see it is that being gay is like believing in a religion (no offence to anyone), there's really no problem unless they do something bad (like kill people for being straight. not that that would happen).

@gabriellecorinne I'm pretty sure Lea is a "legit technical" soprano, at least when she isn't belting. There is a live version of her at a New York benefit event singing 'Take Me As I Am' from Jekyll & Hyde in which she operatically hits a D7, vibrato and all.

I think its the auto-tune that's making the song sound less Broadway, because when Kristin Chenoweth sang on the show, she sounded very 'pop,' even though she actually has an insane vibrato.

@SnowGirl098 D7? Okay I never heard that. But I stand by my opinion I think she's a mezzo, or maybe a pop soprano :) She hits high notes but not in a classical technique. Mariah Carey can hit insanely high notes and she is an alto :D There's no way to classify non-classical voices, so this is confusing. I love this song and felt it was even more tenderly expressed here than in the original. It's sweet how people have accepted the Blaine and Kurt romance.

But what brought me tears is that in real life, a new USA law takes from gays the same right to marry that it gives to straight people. Even if a few states allow gay marriage, gay people are legally denied the dignity of their feelings by national law, just as people of differing races were once denied. Kurt and Blaine need fair laws, too.

Its such a positive show for kids who are so pumped full of nasty media messages every day about being ridiculously perfect. Glee makes me feel like I'm just as special as anyone else. Like this version, although I prefer other versions with vibrato. They have it, so why pop the vibrato at the end? That makes it a pop version of the musical, and after listening to Bernstein's conducting of his own operatic version (as he intended it to be), nothing can sound better :D
