Regardless of climate change, improving energy efficiency and conservation is the only smart thing to do. We are incredibly wasteful, without even thinking about it (such as with "vampire loads"). That's true. But the "ice age" that you're talking about would happen during our children's lives rather than our own. Here the problem is legitimate because we are destroying our planet by our wasteful living. You wouldn't let a pipe keep on leaking in your own house, would you? Well our planet will eventually be overrun by pollution if we don't all work together to fix that pipe.
