  • i woulda cut the tree down. lol

  • @TheJnasThe

You use hairspray. I use engine starter fluid and if you snap a picture at night there is two feet of flame coming out the barrel. The whoe thing wants to jump out of your hands and it scares all the dogs in the neighborhood so they pee themselves. If anything, that wasn't enough hairspray.

  • how did they miss the plane entirely with shotguns?

  • how did you get that view at 2:00?

  • @TehProspector With there last method of getting the airplane down...

  • Hey that is an Ugly Stik!

  • U PUT TOO MUCH HAIRSPRAY TO THAT CANNON!!! =D Mine works like 10x less...

  • "i just landed on a house".... haha

  • why don't you use one of my methods. throwing sticks and stones at it. Never failed :). Just don't stand right under the plane when throwing sticks and stones for obvious reasons.

  • just wandering weather you cleaned up the fishing line, thats how birds die....!

  • I'd use a hi-power quadcopter to get it back!...Hobbyking got a quacopter-board on sale for 30 bucks!

  • In the past we hired a tree climber. In other cases we just grabbed the chain saw and took the tree and plane down. If course we got permission first. You be surprised how many people will let you remove a pesty tree.

  • climb the tree and take it down by hand?

  • Those are some drastic measures you guy had to resort to. Coincidentally, I offer a plane/heli "ReTreeval" service in, and around Lexington, Ky where I live. I am an experienced tree climber, and have many tricks, and tools that can be employed to rescue stranded models. If you ever find yourselves in this situation again, and you don't want to destroy your investment, I would make a special trip for you guys, for the opportunity to hang out with the cool kids.

  • Of course the grappling gun failed, spring loaded toy guns always suck. That method should be the best if you'd use a decent Co2 gas paintball gun.

  • You guys need to stop with the Redneck stuff, we watch you for the Rc reviews.

you do realise falling bullets can be lethal dont you?

  • Very fun episode.

  • Why don´t try burn it up all the trees? Is funny and colorfull.

    Saludos desde México.

  • Not sure if this would with the 150+ trees I have around me in the Pacific Northwest :)

  • slingshot

  • Hey, when are you guys gonna post a new vid? I wake up every morning and check. cool vid though

  • The scene at 02:40 is just hilarious!! That made my day:-)

  • Tie 8 foil helium balloons to fishing line on a fishing rod, guide the balloons up above the aircraft and tug until you dis-lodge it. Party stores typically have clearance designs they will sell you for around $0.50 each. My last retrieval cost $4.50.

  • I heard a good one recently. You get some long PVC pipes and connect them. You can get a good 60-80 feet of them pretty easily and pop the thing back apart and into your truck... assuming you have a truck.

  • Climbing the tree is close....but if the first branch is way up there it's nearly out of the question. There is a good method I learned years ago putting a rope out over a creek for a swing over the creek. You need an old palate, a handsaw, a hammer and some 4" common nails. The palate is your wood source....make several pieces about 18" long. Nail the boards to the tree. They'll be about belt high apart as you climb up and nail each board in. You can get pretty close to your plane.

  • I've found two very cheap ways to get a plane out of a tree with minimal damage.

    1. A thin nylon rope tied through a tennis ball. Good for short range. If you have a friend through some of the line after the ball is tossed, you get a little more range.

    2. A sling shot, some fishing line, and a fishing weight. Less than $20 at walmart. Plus if the line and/weight get stuck just cut it and tie a new weight on.

  • When my dad got his hawk sky stuck in a tree, we used a bow and arrow with a string attached to get it down. You guys should try that next time.

  • bando de felas da puta.. não voam nada e só ficam destruindo os modelos!

  • you guys forgot the way you would have done it in your childhood. CLIMB THE DAMN TREE!!! hahahahha.

  • Call the fire brigade ..

  • after watching this video i went out and flew my plane into a tree :(

  • @bassnfanatic fail. ;-) just kidding. did you try climbing the tree?

  • Climb the tree.

  • Great vid guys - We use a long rope with a stone at one end - but we think the graple chain is muuuuuuch coooooooler :))

  • A. Y'all are nuts. ( not a bad thing)

    B. Love the new intro and exit.

    C. Heh. Y'all are nuts.

Great vid guys. Thanks for the smile.

  • The best bit is......2 guys shooting at it, one with a shotgun. There are no marks on the aircraft from the weapons!

Never go hunting with those two!!

  • Climb the tree!!

  • HOW IS THE PROP NOT BROKEN?!?!?!

  • Comment removed

  • Why you didn´t just climp up the tree ?

  • I use a climbing harness and a length of rope. It works but you need to be fit.

  • i went to find my plane , took two goes. when i found it i also found a red belly black snake.. scary

  • LMFAO! Next episode, removing shotgun pellets and patching little holes in foam wings! Love people who dont take the hobby too seriously. Thanks guys

  • How about: CLIMB THE TREE!

  • You guys need to get a T-shirt made up " I just landed on the house"

  • Just 5 mins ago I just pressed the purchase button for the Bixler but after this I felt like cancelling it...

  • Hey Flitetest ......can you do something crazy and fun like flying a R/C plane while skydiving?

  • What about a bow and arrow with twine on the arrow.

  • Hahahaha! Using the spud goon wasn't too smart at all...

  • Use Guns! Of course! only in America LOL

  • ok , my story, I used a softball, a staple gun and fishing line. I threw the ball over the limb my t-28 was stuck in. its was on about 40-60 pine tree.. it was like velcro. anyway after 3-4 days of trying i just looped the softball over the limb grabed the end with the softball and the other end, and justyanked and yanked untill it came over. Ilost the fuse and the battery, but but the fuse was 28 bucks, and battery 20. so persistence is key.

  • Thank you for putting a smile on my lips.

Maybe you should have considered a ladder and a good old fashioned hand saw.

(works for me on those pesky magnetic trees)

  • I wish I lived closer to you guys...I would come over and help with anything that needed to be done. Really enjoy the show, and believe it will push our wonderful hobby more towards the mainstream:D

    Keep up the great work!

If you ever make it to Orlando, FL then be sure to look me up. We will hook you, and your crew up with whatever you need!

  • what would you do when your airplane goes down and you cant find it but you saw the rough area of its crash zone?

  • persistence is a major part!

  • i will give you ten bucks for the pile< LOL

  • ive tried all of those LOL

  • nice video, but where's the old fashion way?? climbing and than shake the branshes? :-D

  • I kinda wish Flitetest to be more independent so you can be more like TopGear (british ofc) of RC. To review, not overview!

  • @Rogalik88 If Top Gear is independent then I'm Santa Claus.

  • @Rogalik88

You do realise Top Gear doesnt to any REAL reviews don't you?

  • I hate that you guys can't tell us the whole truth about the airplane but i understand that you are limited by HobbyKing. To every hater: they can't tell that the plane from their sponsor who pays them money for making episodes is total crap and you shouldn't buy it. They are better and more honest than hobbykinglive at least! Best wishes!

  • last time i got my plane in a tree, i just threw a steel cable around the branch it was on, tied it to my car an just pulled the branch of and the time before that i got in the bucket of my uncle's bulldozer and he lifted me up to the plane and got it back, never killed a plane by hanging it in a tree

  • not liking the killing of planes when some people cant afford them :(

  • If you just leave it in the tree, chances are the first windy day you have it will come out by itself. The battery will be ruined, but that's probably all you would lose.

  • what about a ladder?

  • I just flew my first plane into a tree, only a cheap trainer, but I'm kinda attached to it. It required a tall ladder and I had to cut through a large limb with a hand saw. Big fun. Love the show!

  • why not just climb the tree yourself of corse i use the naibor kid

  • what camera do you guys use to film your episodes? thanks.

  • @carlocivicsi the Canon 5D

  • Crossbow

Hire a professional tree climber $40-$50.

Bribe a city crew with a 6 pack of beer.

Use a quadcopter fpv to drop a line with a hook on tree branch.

  • I saw a DC3 in the intro!!!

  • At rcflyer247: that's a great idea!!

  • for a challenge you guys should do a fpv dogfight with hobbyzone xport technology!!

  • Im really looking forward to the recycling episode! its a great idea

  • haha, cool video

  • Never though of just climbing the tree?

  • You didn't try a chainsaw...cut down the tree!

  • @roastedghost Our chain was broken.

  • @flitetest Pick up a spare bar and chain when you're at the lift rental place...

  • @roastedghost thats fucking senseless... that tree took years to grow and feeds you fucking oxigen..

  • @Mena142 its oxygen

  • @Mena142 Ease up, Homeboy...you're right though. That kind of thinking is irresponsible and reckless. Much more reckless than shooting a tree with multiple shotgun blasts, we all know shotguns and other firearms have absolutley ZERO effect on trees or any other living organsim. But on the other hand, the wood from the tree could have been used to cook food or provide warmth for homeless people.

By the way, I don't get oxygen from that tree, I don't live in Ohio, that tree is in Ohio....

  • It's impossible to destroy these planes. If you have all the foams, they can be fixed, if not, you could always carve a filler out from other foams.

  • I keep a kit in the back of my car so that I'm always ready to recover a plane. In the kit, I have these items:

    rope

    fishing line

    fishing weights

    sling shot

    work gloves

I use the rope to get more leverage when shaking the tree. The sling shot is good for firing the weights and fishing line over the plane and pulling it back. The work gloves save my hands from blisters.

  • a lipo fire in the tree would have been funny :-)

  • I flew my cessna into the sun and it landed 20ft up a tree a couple miles away from my house, it took like an hour to get it back, no repairs needed either :)

  • You still haven't tell us where did you get the Swifts for the baloon challenge!

  • @argat11 We bought them at the local hobby store. Aero Tech in North Canton, OH.

  • Climb the tree, ya lazy bastards!

  • Fishin' for Squirrels!

    Thank Guys!

  • How bout just try to climb the freakin tree !!:0..lol

  • Great video, atleast you recovered it!!! I can't wait to see the frankinplane!!!!

  • This is now my favorite episode...

  • my hawksky has been through wores

  • @RCFindsen wores? i think you mean worse...

  • @j4cko56 true true

  • i just wait 6months on my first plane whipe i buy poles to ducttape together

  • nice job at destroying that plane

  • I got a foamy stuck in a tree the other day. Took a 20 oz soda bottle half full of water and 100 feet of rope to get it down.

  • what about climbing on that monster tree and get your plane down ?

  • Ha, great video guys.

  • first ya
