Install a new motherboard in wii and use the boot mii disk....and ur wii will work perfect....thats what i did....and my wii is like new now

if you have a cheat device on your wii or any wires that shouldnt be and you use wii system update it'll come up like that cos the console can detect so if you perform a wii system update take out GCN Controller the SD Card Gamecube memory card and/or the disc

this is what i read from google on a wii error 003 forum so i dont know if it works hope it does (other than that i guess you need to take it to gamestop & ask them to fix it)

For anyone else having this problem:

The reason this error occurs is because firmware version 4.2 was made specifically to get rid of homebrew and other unauthorized modifications to the Wii system. Error 003 happens to be the error you get when it detects that you have changed the system's region (i.e. you bought the system in Korea and hacked it to make it think it was a US system, etc). Because Nintendo does not support unauthorized modification of this sort, they refuse to fix your system.

Hey man.. I have the same problem.. I guess you have a korean wii like mine..

At the moment there is no fix for this damn problem.. I tried to talk with hackers and wii professionals all of them said that all I can do is to wait for a fix (coz there isn't fix now) of buy a new wii.. europian wii oh.. they said I can use it to hold paper also.. :(

Error #003 comes up then you update a region changed wii. let's say your wii is an us model and you changed it's region to europe and update, then you will get a #003 error. sorry but at the moment there is no way around this other than send it to nintendo and let it repair
