its not lip-syncing they having a backing track playing over his actually singing, but they are singing the whole time. It is basically singing along to your own song.

Stryper DID lip-sync their background vocals & Michael often lip-synced some choruses. This was very common in the 80's. Def Leppard & Van Halen lip-synced backgrounds too. It is understandable to have a backup track of lead vocals though. Otherwise you are screwed if you get a cold on the road. I know that Michael continued to lip-sinc backgrounds with his solo band in the 90's. My band rehearsed next door to his in Anaheim in 1994 & I watched them do it. Best group of the 80's though!
i know that stryper lip-synced their stuff, but van halen and def leppard?
i never heard any synced stuff of them...i know that for example TNT used to do pre recorded backing tracks alot. do you have some footage of van halen or leppard with lip-sync? no offense, im just interested...
I don't remember where I saw the Van Halen lip-sync but Def Leppard's "Live in the round" video from the late 80's is lip-synced (backgrounds anyway.)
actually the chorus parts are pre recorded, but michael is heavy as **** so who cares. They were too good for their time. Nowadays no one plays like this, unfortunately. Its cause the youth doesnt feel this kind of music as interesting as in the 80s
Sorry bobby, Sad to see you cant recognize that the vocals are NOT pre-recorded. He sings this a little different live than on the recording. And notice before the "singalong" part where Micheal does not sing in the chorus. His part is NOT in the mix. Good bands keep this motto in mind when they right. "If we cant do it live, dont do it." And these guys are damn good. Suck it up, Bunky.
Stryper is awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and will always be,my favorite musicians, long live Stryper
